Yeah ?  I'd be willing to bet you never left it.

Was that supposed to be a criticism?  You realize that Aion is just another themepark MMO, just like the MMO-that-must-not-be-named.  In fact, I think a lot of people would say that WoW is a better game.....about 10 million of them.

Last time I checked my name wasnt  "Lemming."

"You realize that Aion is just another themepark MMO,"   -- You realize this is your opinion ?  You realize there is a nice little cliche out there about opinions ?  Good, thats what I think of you.    :)

But Aion is a themepark MMO. I mean take EVE and WoW, which game is Aion most similar to?

Damn i was not suprised there.

We have no evidence of how bad its has been and how many people left but im sure a huge chunk of people left . But people that are leaving probably like the game the problem is they are seeing lineage 2 all over again with bots and farmers driving the economy wild. I mean in lineage 2 it got bad eventually to get B grade or A grade weapons you needed like 500,000,000 adena. This was due to people just botting and buying gold from farmers and the legit people couldn't even enjoy the catacombs or doing pve because farmers camped everything.

Well same thing is happening here in Aion and if it is not stopped then sad to say Aion is gonna go the way of lineage 2 great potential to be awsome but shutdown due to lack of effort on the devs part.

I would give you a guest pass to SWOTR, but then I wouldn't be able to find a way to live with myself afterwards....

I havent seen a serious decline on my server yet (Castor, Europe). Yesterday it was hard getting questmobs again in Salintus Desert, because of all the other people who were fighting the same mobs.

it all depends on what time of day, and what day you logon... my 2 servers were on "full" status last night, and during the day over the weekend all of the other ones were on "Full" status but mine lol.  Do not jump to conclusions

Pure idle speculation based on no facts at all and a single observation of the server status screen. Sort of like looking at a taxi stand that has some taxis in it and from that deducing that half the city has moved out.

In Europe all the English speaking servers are reporting full during peak times and so are many of the other language ones. NCSoft was very tight on the server populations at the beginning and yes everyone was complaining about the logon queues but it really was the only way to force people to other servers to balance out the populations and now that there are good sized stable populations of both Asbos and Elyos on the servers they can and have lightened up. This is not a reflection of the games popularity but a reflection of changed policies.

In that vein as a purely non-factual observation all the major cities are still crammed full of people and all the questing areas have people running around 24x7 and it does not feel like half of the people have disappeared so I think the original OP is mistaken.

This is not an AIon fan site. If you're here to only publicly masterbate among gushy warm posts about your latest mmo love, then you're in the wrong place. You should always find both sides to any discussion here.

There is a drop in subs...as in any  MMORPG there are those who like it and play, those who quit and bash it when ever they can and those who complain while they still play it.

If you want to know the server stats all you have to do is look at the server status.

http://na.aiononline.com/livestatus/server/

I suspect in 6-12 months there will be a server merge....but by then I and a lot of playes will move to the next FF MMORPG.

Money in politics is the root of all political evil. It is corruption at it's worst.

Most of the servers was at level Full during weekends in EU so no mass quitting there yet.

in 5 years, Lineage 2 never went f2p with cash shop and it didnt had the initial success Aion is having, so that is completely ridiculous and shows you have no clue of the market and of NCSoft way of business.

Second, like the ppl who actually know are saying, the servers keep full in many cases, and very well populated in others, there are no empty servers or lack of groups to do anything.

Even so, in a second some other hater will come and say another stupidity again, even after all ppl who actually are there to know, say the community is very healthy....  sigh...

But back when Lineage came out MMO's weren't as popular as they are now. So of course Aion initially outsells it. But has Aion sold as many boxes as WAR or AoC? I don't believe they have, but I may be wrong. I 100% believe the dude you quoted. All along the game has felt like that to me anyway. Except they chose to charge you 15 bucks a month for it. Other than that it's felt no different than Perfect World, Lineage or any other cookie cutter Asian MMO.

They do not have to get 239567290743 subs here to be successful and believe it or not this country is not the center of the importance universe.  That idiot over at Aion Source who wrote that big long letter could have just summed it up in a few words or simply..........Dear NCSoft, Please make this game a carbon copy of WOW with wings. That would have saved a ton of space. If you leave I promise you they will not care and will not be any less successful. All the folks spouting this was a WOW killer or stuff along those lines was also a fool. NCSoft history goes to show this and a company rarely changes its ways to satisfy a few.

Your right so I don't know why they even bother to lauch a game in the west?  Why spend the money to westernize it if tney don't want it to suceed?

I'm sure it is successful in the east, but until they bridge the culture gap and realize the majority of those who play MMO's in the west are casual players who have a life outside of games and don't want to spend what little time they have, grinding until their eyes bleed to make the next level or have to put up with bots and spammers.

The people who frequent this site are not a true sample of the people who play MMO's.  I'm willing to bet that most of the frequent posters here are more of the hardcore gamers and represent the minority in MMO's.

If what NCSoft does works for them and their investors then I wouldn't change anything either.  That leaves you two choices, either shut up and play as it is or quit and show your distaste for them by not giving them your money.  simple really.

I'm not an IT Specialist in real life, but I play one on the internet.

I still have a month left to play in Aion but I havent logged in for weeks.

Im not comming on the forums to complain that its bad or anything, some people love it some dont, its just not my cup of tea,

so I move on to the next MMO that fits more my taste, perhaps STO or SWtor (sci-fic) will peek more my intrest.

Well regardless of this whole topic id like to see it do what GW did and cost money to buy and be f2p

But i know this game wont

and just because the game seems buggy now all games are at there release and give it time to work out all the kinks and etc and i bet you more people will come to the game including people who quit.

Besides no one is really sure how many people have quit playing this.

So unless you work for ncsoft and have these statics dont post anymore of these threads

Its pointless

and besides most of the threads on here latly were all haters its stupid,

I think they should have built this game to have four different ways of playing on four different types of servers it instead of limiting themselves to the untested market of players that want a strictly PvPvE experience.

They could have easily made this a kick-ass, PvP-only game with PvP from the 1st level to the cap with very few tweaks and launched it in North America on 10 servers designated as PvP only.

They could also have easily tweaked the same "base game" to be PvP optional.  All it would take is a LOT more quests throughout all levels and more zones and a PvP on/off switch.  That's another group of servers.

They could have easily tweaked the base game to be PvE only. That 's another group of servers and it caters to (probably) the most common playstyle of the MMORPG community in North America.  It would also be where NCSoft makes the most money because North America will probably never be PvP-centric.

And, of course a set of servers for the game as it is now for those of us who like PvPvE and enjoy Aion the way it is.

What's more, there could be RP servers for each of these 4 playstyles.

Think about it. Every  playstyle is accommodated and 4x the amount of MMORPG players can be targeted by marketing.   PvPer's don't have to put up with PvE-centric players or have their game softened because they'd have their own servers like every other friggin' game out there etc.

NCSoft never should have limited themselves to what's basically a niche/untested market of PvPvE without player alternatives.  It's extremely narrow thinking, particlularly when you consider it wouldn't be too awfully tough to tweak the base game the way they tweak most PvE MMORPG's to accommodate the PvPers.

Because 3.5 mill subs in Asia and 500k in the west is pretty niche :)

Their are not many MMOs that can boast this type of following. Expect more servers added in the west once the word gets out how great Aion is. The Koreans have done it again!
