I think im burned out on these games! I just bought/downloaded Aion, updated, and played for about 30 minutes and I realized “I can’t do this again!!” I quit and cancelled my subscription (obviously still have my 30 days left!). Once I had figured out all the controls I was running to the NPC’s with marks over there heads, clicking accept on the quests without reading them, then running to kill x mobs or collecting x items. Maybe it’s just me but it just seemed like the every other MMO with better graphics? But then again how do you make it different from every other game, maybe I’m just burnt out on this genre. Not a flame on Aion because I can’t personally say any other game out there right now is doing it any different. (that I have played to date). Is this just me or are others finding the same happening to them?

I tried EVE but spaceships just aren’t for me!

P.S. I also bought Fallen Earth but don’t even get me started on the technical issues. Spent 3 days just trying to get ingame and I quit. Tech support just told me to uninstall and reinstall over and over.

Can I have your 30 day trial to try it? =)

I am personally burnt out on them simply sue to there being nothing to "grab me" like EQ did back in the day.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts.

Go read some books, and when you dont feel like that go and work out at the gym. And after some time you will meet a girl and have some sex.

Sounds like my Aion experience almost exactly.  Decent game but made me feel like I was about to spend months repeating something I already did.  Unsubbed after a week.

Ignorance is Bliss.

Well when you already know that you are tired of the same old same old yet buy a new game with the same mechanic, you had to see it coming.

I suggest you look around a bit. There are many rare gems out there and not all of them are P2P.

Feel the same way exactly. First time I haven't been subed to anything in 5 years. At the moment i'm playing other types of game (mostly single player) and concentrating on real life stuff. Not really worried about it. I'm sure after a bit of a break I can come back to the genre with a fresh atitude. Still log in here every day just to see whats going on though:)

i totally agree

aion was alright at first, got to level 25, was unimpressed and cancled

tried Fallen Earth, actually started to enjoy it a little bit.. got to like level 7 and have had 0 interest in logging in the past few days

.. i think we are tired of the same ol boring ass pve grind..... specially now that it really is centered to have you solo

i personally love pvp, so does the wife... and i don't think its so much the genre but the grind to get to the endgame, there is no enjoyment in the same ol shit, i don't care about the crap stories they come up with

blah blah blah

gonna get told to play a fps now ::waits for it::

finely someone that say's what i fill

i played so mach game's for the past 6 months got sick of of them fast

i don't know what it is that but i think because the games now are boring ,all is the same, they all have the same structure.

there is no game to day that brings something new to the table all of the go on the same principle called the WoW principle with

minor adjustments to it .

and it is sad to see that happening

Same thing here. The stuff of today is just too much of a "shallow game to play and flow with the mainstream" instead of a world to roam in and experience my own adventure -incl. all the dangers and learning curves, which both seem to be bad things to better avoid when making a game today.

Hopefully one day, when the rush for blockbuster-mmorpgs is over, some company comes up with a game that goes back to "epic", "adventure", "journey" etc. again. Until then, these jokes of supposed to be "massive multiplayer" rpgs aren't even worth to yawn about. It's all just shit for stupid adhs-kids which fail at playing shooters online and therefore haunt the mmorps with their inabilities, dragging down the genre.:

Really?...but...do I have to like, you know, talk to her and stuff?  Or will she just jump my bones while I'm doing bench presses?

On topic: Is it just my imagination or are these types of threads becoming more common?  Maybe some day some game company will notice the growing dicontent and try to take advantage of it.

Lol the ignorance of this response actually made me laugh. Thanks!

I couldn't agree with this more.  My first game was AC which was EXACTLY what you just described, followed by DAOC which was the last game to actually capture my interest for a significant period of time.  Of course then I played wow (never got past lvl 40, was just to boring), and it's been a total downhill slide from there!  I can't even count the number of trials of tried in the last few years.

I know how you feel, i would literally get so hyped about games, do my research on classes days before and then log in and pretty much loose all motivation to do anything once i realize its gonna be the same thing i've done over the years. Maybe im just sick of themepark games, but lately ive been having quite alot of fun playing some sandbox games. Another big factor games lack now is well...Fun, they feel more of a chore on grinding and just rushing to end lvl where then you grind to get gear for the little bit of fun you can get using that gear.

I agree with the OP, with so many similar MMOs out there is little to catch the imagination.

That being said, I have been fiddling around with various free MMOs and trials for about the past 2 years, never really getting one that could keep me going. I have been on again, off again filling the space with single player games. But a friend said he was playing DDO and I should join him. Well I played DDO when the price dropped at Target to like 7 bucks a year ago and really couldn't get into the combat or questing. Now I have resubbed after a couple of weeks and can't get enough.

So, to my mind, it all boils down to where you are at in your life, what your tastes in games have become. But in my opinion the days of long term MMO commitment are over for most one time MMO fanatics. While I am enjoying DDO right now only time will tell how I feel about it in a couple of months and don't see any other MMO to take up the space.

I have been burnt out too, however recently i tried vanguard just to see how the game was fairing.  I have to say i am amazed.  it is a great game with very strong content and mechanics.  Give it a try guys it is a lot of fun makes me think of my first MMO experience.

I am not burned out at all, I just need EQ and UO with 2010 graphics and some modern technology.
Is it too much to ask?
But by looking at the crap developers are producing since 2004, apparently it is asking too much....................

I'm not quite burnt out yet, but I'm getting there. Every game I play starts out fun with lots of stuff to do, but rapidly devolves to a massive grindfest (Gah, Maplestory *twitch* *twitch*) I've also slowly been gravitating to smaller mmo's (grand chase, most recently) for the point of trying to find a game I can stick with, and though I've found some okay ones, I find myself hesitant to readily start grinding for quest items or grinding for levels or grinding to master skillz or going through quests requiring me to run half way across the entire freaking world and back.
