After reading through many threads and postings... is there an actually release date yet?

I'm ready to move on from AoC and this is the only game that's grabbing my interest out there....

 Only rumors so far. Nothing official.

Look.. MMORPG is THE MMO site on the net. Do you see up above your post where the SW: TOR icon is? Now look to the right. Do you see where it says "Status: Development (est.rel N/A)"? 

Now use the brain that we all know you have in your head and break that down...

Status is in Development. Est means "estimated", rel means "release", N/A means "unknown".

See what that means is that they don't know when the game is going to be released so why in hell would anyone else?

You know, the odd thing is, I never needed to ask anyone what that meant when I started coming onto this site because ITS OBVIOUS.

That isn't always true. There have been a number of times there have been content/date changes for games, and it has taken this site a few days to update with the new info.

You fail at trolling, but I guess that is pretty OBVIOUS.

Considering the fact that the game is entering a beta, that should say a lot-one of the dev's even said that "It would be released sooner than you think."

At this moment, there is no accurate answer so I hope this one helped.

It releases next Tuesday.

If this game launches in January then I'm a monkey's uncle.  Imo the earliest I see this thing hitting shelves would be Q2 of next year.  Unless they are doing massive internal testing already before a beta phase then I can't see a proper beta on the game only taking a couple months.  Not with the amount of content the game is supposedly launching with.

Me to, but I'm glad it's not. I want them to seriously take their time with this game. I don't want anything half done, I expect it to be complete on release day.

Sorry... the game isnt going to come out in january. I don't find the article linked in the other thread to be substantial. We don't know exactly how Sean was referring to that article when he cited it.

Currently beta applications have just begun to be taken, and we still know of only 50% of the classes that will actually be in the game. Bioware is still releasing information on the game such as classes, planets, etc and generally when a company is announcing such major parts of the game it is still far from release. That being said I do believe bioware is taking it slower than usual in terms of releasing information. January 1st is really only two months away and I don't see how anyone in their right mind can expect the game to come out then when beta invites won't be going out for at least another month and that is only for closed beta which will likely last at the very least 3 months.

The game won't be out until late spring/early summer at the very earliest.

I really don't get how anyone can actually believe that this game is coming out in January considering that beta applications were just opened in the last couple of weeks... but whatever floats your boat.

I expect the big marketing push to come in 2010....which means...Dec. 2010 or sometime in early 2011.

Still we have only seen demo so far. The full scope of the game is yet to be revealed.

Couldn't agree with you more Garrett, this has always been my thoughts as well.  I have been saying forever now Summer 2011, I expect their to be some complications that need to be fixed that's why my time frame is a little later than yours.

I agree. Q1 of 2010 is too early, because they haven't even started the marketing push or the Closed Beta. Q2 is pushing it, and would leave many people wondering if the game is actually finished. Q3 isn't a great time to release an MMORPG, due to vacations and such. Q4, however, gives them enough time to test and market the game, assuming the game is close to beta already, and allows for a release during a time when people are starting to head in doors due to the cold. I'd say a December release is most likely, because it's a time of year when parents are buying more things than usual, and feeling especially generous.  It's also when a lot of college and high school kids get a lot of time off, making them more likely to buy a game that requires a big time investment.

So a December 2010 - January 2011 release would seem optimal to me.
