Me, like others, feel robbed by Age of Conan. Lied repeteadly with false promises of patchs, miracle patchs, content, on a linear game with a abrupt end on nothingness.

As a result some people started to use a custom avatar with the name of Funcom replaced by Failcom.

But, time have pased,  .... Age of Conan is #78 or something like that in popularity has a game. Some people got fired, first a head, and recently some normal people  :-(

I even have started to recomend again it, with huge caveats about it, what to expect, and what not to expect.

So... we sould stop this boycott, and start using again normal avatars?

lets wait and see how the secret world does, first.

If you stand VERY still, and close your eyes, after a minute you can actually FEEL the universe revolving around PvP.

Frankly speaking I think the shape Funcom is in is b/c of Funcom and not your so called boycott man. Its one MMo site among hundreds and you really need to get overself.

Yes I do understand your hate of Funcom because I bought the preorder collectors edition box and wanted this game to succeed but you think a avatar pic will spread your meg to overthrow a corporation?

really?

Just wait until the day you try products like Gilette, Axe, Coca Cola Zero etc.. Your boycot list is going to be *huge* :)

Spending so much effort on a failed game is just silly. Play something else.

Boycott?  What boycott?  I signed up for Secret World , going to be a Templar one day. (Take that you wrong doers)

AOC was just a game. I didn't care for it, I stopped paying for it.  Same for any new game, I'll give it a try, if it isn't to my liking, I'll stop paying for it.

I don't wrap my hopes and dreams up in a video game, just not worth the effort.

They took the guy's 50 bucks and gave him a game which was merely average.   Let him have his unbridled outrage in peace.

We were doing a boycott? I thought we just stopped playing AoC cuz of the low pop and the not a lot of fun factor...

Just to make things clear...
I speak for myself and no one else, unless i state otherwise mine is just an opinion. A fact is something that can be independently verified, you may challenge such but with proof. You have every right to disagree with me through sound argument, i believe in constructive debate, but baseless aggression will warrant an unkind response.

I'm not boycotting any company as only an emo-drama idiot would do that. If you want to deliberately not play some games that might be good simply because the company involved made a game you didnt like in the past then thats your problem. Dont assume that everyone else is going along with your insanity.

The quality of games from any company can easily vary because new staff come and go all the time. People can also learn from their mistakes.......and sometime forget them. Mythic is a good example of that for me. They made DAoC which I loved and then they made WAR which I hated.

In other words its all random chaos so I just judge a game by the game and not the company.

Boycott just because you didn't like a game? Bofookingho. You sound incredible childish, and I dread to dream how the world would be if every game we didn't like ended up making us do something like this. Very very odd behavior.

There is tons of mmo's that I didn't like, that I was hyped and looking forward too, do yourself a favor, move on.

damn, I think I missed the memo on this.  Am I too late to boycott?  Oh wait, guess I am.  I'll stop boycotting them also

Boycott is a big word.  I do not plan to buy any Funcom product ever again - but Im not boycotting them.  I am just not satisfied with their products (AO first and then AOC).  Funcom does have a pattern that is becoming aparent and TSW will not be any diffrent.  Thats something all will just have to accept and get ready for their PR machine.

The job of the ppl that got fooled before is to let others know what the company is about.  And then Im not only talking one MMO game.

So - advice to all - Join TSW beta if you are fine with companies not lifitng NDA before game release.   And if you dont get in - Get ready for the PR campaign and avoid the urge to preorder a game from a company that tells you so much - but deliver so little at release.  And actually prevents their testers to tell you the truth.

Just remember that.  And if you don't - I promise that I and alot of others will keep reminding you - and others what Funcom is all about.

I try to consider games on a case by case basis.

I don't see any point in boycotting a whole company based on the failure of one game. I agree with many of you that AoC wasn't anywhere close to what I had hoped it would be, but that doesn't mean that I will never touch another Funcom product again as a result. Who knows, maybe their next game will be the best thing since sliced bread.

While I certainly won't give them money before I can play it, there's no way in hell I would let a prejudice against funcom keep me from trying out The Secret World.

All you need to do is speak with your money.  Nothing else you do or say online makes a difference.  If a game sucks, stop paying for it and move on.  If enough people agree with you, the game will die.

I felt burned by AoC, but my complaint had more to do with their design decisions than anything else.  Yeah, the broken/lacking content sucked, the the moronic lack of communication during the first month was a bit infuriating.  I left before the first month sub was charged and never looked back.

I'm looking forward to seeing how TSW comes out.  It's a different dev team and I believe Funcom learned a lot from their mistakes with AoC.  Boycotting them permanently over one game is ludicrous.

Anarchy Online was another release from Funcom that took the exact same path as AOC.  No lifting of NDA - half finished game beeing released - ended up as free to play ? ...

In many cases - this is not about the product.  Its about the method that is used to deliver that product.  Through the years gamers have realised that not lifting NDA and allowing for free flow of information between gamers - is simply not good for the gamer - but ONLY for the company.   Funcom stated in both the case of AO and AOC that they would not lift NDA and the result is obvious to all.

5 guys does not a boycott make.

I personally wouldn't play a Funcom game because I think they don't have a clue of how to make a good game, I wouldn't call that a boycott, just good decision skills.

For instance I think Blizzard tends to make good games (although I don't care for WoW) so I will buy Starcraft 2 and the new Diablo without much thought because I am sure I will have fun with them.

So I do base a lot of my game buys off of company name, but I don't set out to make a boycott or a forum image to shout my opinions as loud as can be. Don't like something then don't pay for it, simple.
