Lets forget the issues people have with constant crashing during Fortress Sieges. As there are still plenty of people who don't experience it. I guess.

Lets forget the issues about the gold sell spam. That is. As long as your blocklist isn't full. You can ingore it. Somewhat.

The fact is. From now on, no new player with some form of sanity is ever going to sub for this game. Ever.

Right now, the moment a new player logs into the game for the first time....

....it will not only be overwelmed with a raging chat window moving faster then the average Formule 1 car. Because of all the spam.

But he/she will have to put up with farming bots all over the starter areas. They are everywhere and in very large numbers.

It's a joke!  NCSoft has lost complete control over their game. The spam and botting is so excessive. It's really disgusting.

I have never seen this amount of spam and botting before. Even Lineage 2 wasn't that bad at launch as is now the case with AION.

I guess. This is what you get when you don't bother writing any security nor any checks in your game client and make the bussiness choice to rely 100% on a crap program called Game Guard.... and then at launch make the decision to remove this crap program from the game client as well. Leaving it completely open and defenseless.

I guess NCSoft has just set a brandnew record in how fast you can run a game totally into the ground after launch. (just talking about NA/EU launch here).

Cheers

Troll? Nope.

I'd love to know the bot:player ratio. There's squillions of bots. Midget/unguilded/untitled players repeatedly killing mobs for days on end in the same spot.

Reporting them does nothing. Players I reported over a week ago and are obviously bots are still 'playing'.

Players come for the game, but they stay for the people- Most Devs have forgotten this.

yeah, the bot issue needs addressing asap, but to say that it's 'done for' is just overly dramatic amd only really a stance someone already had decided they didnt like the game for whatever reason would take.

With that, I don't see anything else to talk about in this topic so I will just make my way out.

peace:)

As much as he is trolling, he does have a good point: MMO companies should create their own security system instead of relying on the tried and failed system of gameguard.

Blizzard and Valve both created their anti-cheating systems.  Do cheats, hacks, and bots still get created for their games?  Yes definitely.  BUT, they are able to respond to the problem and fix it much faster then other companies using a third party program do.

I work on a game that uses gameguard and whenever we have a problem we must first inform our producers who in turn inform our developers who in turn inform gameguard who in turn block the problem.

Companies like Blizzard and Valve cut out the middleman and fix their own problems much fast and more efficiently.  Honestly, I believe it seperates the top devs from the second tier but you dont have to take my word for it, do your own research.

they do need to address the botting issue but thus far everyone that i have reported for botting has been banned.

The point is. That this game has no form of security whatsoever at this moment. As NCWest made the decision to remove GameGuard at launch. So it is no longer active at the moment.

The game client is so open and defenseless. No wonder the botting and spam right now is so totally out of control.

Gameguard is about as much use as Punkbuster.

Stops the readily available hacks that have been out for ages but that's about it.

If only it was a troll..  I really like Aion, but have found myself slowly losing intrest in logging in since I hit 30.  Since I arrived in Belusian (sp? Lvl 30+ asmodian area), I have been disgusted by the number of KSing, blatant botters.  Its frustrating when you are trying to kill quest mobs, a bot 4-5 lvls higher then the mob (usually a Sin, or glad, sometimes with a chanter partner) shows up and snatches it away.  Hell, even in off hours, its hard to efficently grind/and/or quest due to the number of bots grinding away in Belusian (not to mention there is only 1 channel, so you can't escape the robot invasion).  It would only take a gm a few moments to recognize all the bots. Usually they have "strange" names that seem to be two random english words formed together to make a name, they usually have no title on, and are never guilded, unless they're in a guild filled with botters (it seems every server has atleast 1 bot guild).

It really is a huge problem, not to mention that I have been auto-reporting legions of bots since release, yet many times see the same bots, in the same area, for days at a time.  If they don't take some real serious action, pretty soon there will be more automatons then real players, with the only chat ingame being the numerous gold spam adverts competing for the shrinking population's business.

Just like everyone else, I agree.

I just started the game recently, and was fairly overwhelmed by the number ot bots/farmers that have planted themselves in a P2P game so early in such shear numbers.

But, then again... yea... its GameGuard.. heh

I dont think this alone will kill the game though. By now im sure theyre panicing to try to deal with it before subscribers drop low enough.

Yeah i too remember there being bots in WoW . It got quite bad at one point they would take over entire areas a bit like a virtual maffia . Every problem i m seeing in Aion i saw in WoW in its opening months . Including the ques . The only thing i would say Blizzard did better was it recognised the problem of ques and did give out free time which Ncsoft arnt doing . I do agree the OP is entitled to his own opinions but the title of this thread really does make him a troll . As for Xfire its widly known by anyone with any sence its a vastly inaccurate tool for measuring a games popularity . If you have any doubts about Aion and are reading this thread i would say check out the official online reviews all of which say its the best mmo release since WoW and most of which give it reviews of over 90 percent . I would suggest leaving buying it for a couple of months when the new servers have been added . The opening month or two of an mmo are never without problems .

Yep, just put a piece of junk up for sale for the desired amount. The gold seller can then buy it from you.

Just for the record: Age of Conan and Warhammer online got pretty good online reviews at launch. AoC,even with those giant problems, managed in misterious ways to score good points in online reviews. Come on dude, with your hand in your heart,do you really trust online reviews score?

I loved the game until yesterday. I got my first taste of pvp. Im the kind of guys that loves pvp and pve so this game seemed like the right thing. I have a level 24 gladiator and a 19 templar so far. I was pvping and didnt realize, as i was leveling that you cant run while using your abilites. meaning standing still while going through your skills. I was fighting equal level dudes (casters clerics) as they ran i would try to attack, as i closed the gap on them with starting chains, only to have them time out as i got to the opposing player. Now I still think the  game is great , this may be an eventually killer for me. I dont know, but it was something in pvp that im not used too.

I never said the game itself is bad.

That is why it's so sad.  I love the game for what it can be. The gameplay is fun. The grind isn't that bad as some people are saying. The crafting is pretty okay.

It's that the botting and spam is so totally out of control. And seeing NCSoft's history with their Lineage games. I have no hope anymore that it will be any different with Aion.

This game is so Kinah dependend. It's so full of money sinks. It's botting and cheating paradise.

Just wait and see. The only thing NCWest will do, when loads of people are not going to resub end this month, is going into even more panic mode (then they already are.... see the mass banning topics) and just put GameGuard back in. Think they solved it. And that's it.

And then all that is left. Are the people who cheat and bot themselves. The spammers and farm bots. And a handful of people with a very very thick skin and able to be put up with it. Just like Lineage 2.

Cheers

Look the game is in its first month . Do you remember what Warcraft was like back then ? It certainly was nt as smooth as it is now ( mind you i m not sure smooth is what i would apply to the lag fest of wintersgrasp lol ) . What amazes me is people buy these games at release and expect them to be perfect when games that have been out for years still arnt . We still get rubberbanding in lord of the rings online . The biggest problem i have with Aion is the ques . The bots problem will be sorted out  but as in every other mmo it takes time . The actual game itself is what every reviewer has said it is , namely the best game to be released since WoW .  I m reserving judgement on how many people will leave . I know a lot that arnt leaving but taking a month or two off untill the ques are sorted out .
