SORRY TO CUT AND PAST. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY MMORPG DID NOT COVER THIS NEWS IN A HEADLINE? "China has banned foreign investment in its online gaming industry in a tightening of its censorship regime and an effort to protect local gaming companies. Foreigners would be banned from operating online gaming within China through wholly foreign-owned investments, joint ventures or any other forms of co-operation with local companies, the country’s publishing regulator said." IS IT TRUE? IS IT NEWS? ISN'T THIS SITE ABOUT WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE MMO WORLD? AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY IT DIDN'T MAKE NEWS ON THIS SITE? AND IF IT DID, CAN SOMEONE SHOW ME WHERE? …..it’s a guideline, not a rule, as players we must remember: “It’s a Game”. |

Because no one posted it on the forums yet. That's where MMORPG.com gets it's news. |

This is not about what China is doing, but what MMORPG isn't doing! …..it’s a guideline, not a rule, as players we must remember: “It’s a Game”. |

I think it still remains to be seen how this will affect the MMO industry as a whole. They may want to gather more facts before posting a news article about it.

Do they really need to make a seperate post or headline when it is already being discussed on their forums? This isnt fox or cnn where you get 24 hour a day coverage for 2 months because an entertainer dies. www.agonysend.org |

Considering this is the precedent they have allways used, why would they stop now. Here is how news is aquired by MMORPG.com.

Because journalism for our genre has yet to evolve beyond covering releases, gameplay discussions, reviews and "insider" looks. Take sports as an example, in countries with a well developed football press (Argentina) analysis becomes not only very elaborate and technical but all aspects of the game are discussed and covered. Violence in stadiums, corruption amongst FAs, player transfers, social and cultural aspects of the game, etc. Countries with poorly developed media (Honduras) will only focus on cheerleading their teams and hyping readers/viewers about medocre games. MMO coverage is geared towards providing consumers with whatever info game companies decide to release and doing a bit of critique. We even get a guy on this site (good writer tho) doing lists of what games would be cool to have or what are the all time favorites... It really is our fault for not being discriminating about the quality the of journalism we get... Just to make things clear... |
