Have you never been a part of a group?  If you're well involved with that group, why would you sit up one day and say "I need to meet other people!" unless the group is unfulfilling?  I don't "give a shit" about anyone else because I don't [i]need to.[/i]  It's a simple matter of not wasting calories.  It's not a matter of a lack of respect, please.  It's not like I run around every game world waving my dick around shouting SOMETHING AWFUL DOT COM.  I shut my mouth and don't interact in any way, positive or negative, with 98% of the rest of the players.  It's the simple, time-tested way of the world: you stay out of my way, I'll stay out of yours.  My "attitude" is reactionary - you're the one who started spouting hatred long before I even found the thread.

 

I like (or at least don't have any ire for) DarkPony because we've run together, even if just for a few minutes, and he proved himself to be a nice guy and not a moron.  I like blakavar because he's at least waiting until we "ruin your game" to pass judgement.  Amazing how far that goes in fascilitating a modicum of courtesy, if not your cherished "respect."

and your saying it isnt warranted? Again look at the post above... look at the goon members in other games. Reputations switch from game to game, it doesnt matter if i "spouted hatred" first because either way the goons in any game will act the same as every other game they join. Unless you or your guild members can prove me wrong by not being asshats in the games you join. That doesnt mean one person doing something that isnt disrespectful (like you ... thanks for not being an asshat btw) it means a large group doing something that doesnt ruin other people's fun day after day.

its not about ruining the whole game, its about ruining the game for others or giving them a hard time. Something i've seen in this thread and on the FE forums. There is no "changing" for your guild as a whole, i mean really unless you can prove me wrong and posts like the one above quit showing up i'll change my opinion.

like i said before, why should people respect your guild if you dont show respect back? Albeit i shouldnt have singled you out (if i did) because you did help someone out. But it doesnt exactly make all the shitty things your guild does go away.

Anyway, the problem is solved. I joined a guild called SOF they've been helping me out alot. I even got a free mount without asking. If any griefers try to make trouble we have a guy that can take care of it.

 The PvP in Fallen Earth is NOT FFA. It is only in certain zones! You can kill anyone in that zone, but  it's your choice to enter that zone.

2 Rather than blame the players,blame the design,this will only once again confirm,MMORPG games do not know how to do PVP.Not in AION,not in WOW,not in ANY game.

You want fair PVP aside from latency?go play Quake or Unreal tournament.,or COD.Sorry COD is not so good anymore everything is just radar ,you know where everyone is at all times.Play COD 1.

It's not the Goons in FE you need to worry about being a zerg..

It's all the morons and asshats in the Enforcer faction that are the zerg now.  They can't hit the broad side of a barn from inside of it, so they make up for sheer ineptitude with mass numbers.

To wit, the Goons, while not being the most favored of groups out there, are actually doing some factions a favor..they're currently Travelers..or some of them are..and helping to deal with the zerg of the keyboard generals.

May not like 'em..but they are at least helping for once.

I always considered goons harmless,I mean when they were in darkfall, they had 4x our numbers, and we rolled them every time, maybe its due to FPS combat, but FE should be no different.

Goons are fairly bad when it comes to FPS games, they are good scammers, but FE is more about combat IMO.

It is not a true sandbox.

I went back to Eve, after darkfall population dropped( going to give it a nother try after expansions/transfers) and I forgot how much I missed true sandboxes after playing Darkfall.

Here is what some people don't seem to understand:

The SomethingAwful forums where we're from has over 133,000 members.  We are not a large MMO guild that jumps from game to game - we are SEVERAL THOUSAND DIFFERENT PEOPLE who play whatever the hell game they want.  We congregate together because we have common background, and generally our senses of humor sync.  Groups of goons have varying degrees of sway in a lot of games, but the people on Mal'Ganis in WoW aren't necessarily the same in the massive alliance in Eve, and they sure as hell aren't necessarily the same people playing Fallen Earth.

 

There's a LOT of nerds on SA, and a lot of those nerds play games.  There are goons in every MMO out there.  If you're avoiding games because of "goons" then you may as well throw your computer off of a moving train.

 

That said, the fact that there was a pre-release thread complaining about goons MERE PRESENCE in Fallen Earth doesn't do a whole hell of a lot for community relations.  Why should we even BOTHER to try to integrate into your community and play nice if every dipshit in "The Juggalo Nation" is going to ride up to me on an ATV 3 days into my first month and start giving me shit for something from a game I've never even played?

 

This is exactly why I filter out Local chat.  If I can't see someone insulting me for absolutely no reason, then I'm less likely to get pissed and fire back and do more to "ruin" my already apparently shitty rep.  I am close to the nicest fucker you will ever interact with in an MMO, but if I'm going to take fire from all sides just because I think SA is hilarious, then I have no trouble dropping any pretense of amicability and playing the retard you expect me to be.  And if you keep stopping, dropping, and screaming your head off every time you see the Goon Squad tag, then I'm perfectly content to laugh at how retarded you're acting.

 

People were calling us out and whipping themselves into a frenzy on the FE forums before ANY goon started doing anything to deserve ire.  Now our trolls are laughing at you all for doing all their work for them.  We don't even have to POST and you whine.

 

DarkPony, if you're still watching the thread, I'm pretty sure it was me that helped you.  Was it Loki in Junk Fortress?  I helped someone fight off the constant respawn while we tried to figure out to click the stupid skull in the room to open the door.

I, for one, am willing to give you guys a chance. You have to keep in mind though, that you're wearing the banner of a community who has developed a very bad reputation in most of the games it touches. That collective sense of humor and collective set of interests you guys have has also led to a collective reputation as griefers, trolls, and unskilled zergs. People have already pointed out some instances of this in FE  from in game and on the forums. If these are the people you choose to associate with, you must be prepared for the "guilt by association", whether deserved or not.

 GOONS, NOT THAT WORD, 4.5 HALF YEAR GOONS, RUN AWAY.

(90% of the times i was ganked in WoW was by people who there in the guild Goon Squad, beware, they are everywhere!)

Instead of telling us what "in your opinion" doesnt work (ie: PvP) how about telling us just how you think it should work? or better yet, design your game, market it and let us all play your fantastic MMO..lol

You know, I played Eve and I know that Goons had a bad reputation in that game.  I even had a GS member try the ol' recruitment scam on me.  What was funny about that is I lead the guy on for a few days about how I was trying really hard to get the ISK together so I could join GS.  Eventually I broke it to him that I was just messing with him and we ended up having a good laugh about the whole thing.  I also read the forums with the GS chest beating and all that from Eve and I guess in my old age I'm not bothered by that stuff. 

Last night, 2 Goons were in the bank area of Old Kingman talking back and forth about 'loving' their horse and I had to laugh because it was funny as ****.  I have never been griefed by a Goon, talked badly to by a Goon, and really never had a negative run in with them.  Maybe I will in the future, I don't know.  I can tell you this, if I do I'm going to think badly about that player and not then extend my unhappiness to the entire guild.  Guilds aren't jerks, people are.  I for one look forward to doing battle with them, even if I do end up on my back more than the prom queen.  /shrug

This is how games with open PvP are.

They attract the sociopathic dregs of the MMORPG world. What on earth did you expect when you joined one?

There is something you must know, however. We don't really care. With the amount of people who join any specific goon guild in that game, we can make enough groups within the guild for every bracket. In Goon Squad on MG Horde WoW, you NEVER have to pug. You can form a group out of the 5 thousand or something members of Goon Squad in a second.

The best thing about goons is they don't give a crap. There are people who play video games and just take them too damn seriously. The point of any goon guild is to have a good time, and not take the game seriously. Look at Age of Conan. We had an absolute blasty blast playing that game even though it was so bad. Hate tells feed the goon players because it makes it even more fun. Its like going with a group of friends to Disneyland just wasted. Who cares what other people think, you're having a hell of a time. Thats what any MMO should be like, in my opinion anyways.
