"Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof."

I do not really like analogies (mostly because all of them can be misleading or misinterpreted). However, here is one for the majority that believe, that it is not reasonable to purchase an mmo that has you play through "mind numbing boredom to reach the fun(aka grind)".

Why buy and cook food from the market when you can get it at a fast food place for less, without working and for instant good tasting gratification.

Most likely, millions of americans prefer to eat fast food. Why? Cheap, Taste good, and its Easy =(which equals)= unhealthy overweight, and lazy consumer. When currently less of the population (unkown statistic) prefers to purchase their food at a Higher price, only to take that product home to actually cook and prepare that said food.

Could this same idea be applied to the mmo genre? And if so what does that say for MMo's with higher subscriptions. Does the most popular always mean its better? And should hard work in mmo's ever be accepted as normal? This is just different way of thinking about the same old topic that pops up lately.

My opinion : Yes just because you pay for a game there is nothing wrong with a little hard work to get to the fun. And hell no does a larger subcription base mean that you have the better mmo. Otherwise the big "M" must be the best place in the world to get nutrition.

yea, this is flamebait... although i totally agree with comparing McDonalds to you know what...

Just to make things clear...
I speak for myself and no one else, unless i state otherwise mine is just an opinion. A fact is something that can be independently verified, you may challenge such but with proof. You have every right to disagree with me through sound argument, i believe in constructive debate, but baseless aggression will warrant an unkind response.

Just a thought that came to mind while i was lurking the forums as usual. Thought it would be good share. Instead of the usual "OMG this game is so grindy, why play this? This X game has so much less and is easier", or "This game sucks with its X amount of grind, I think i will just go back to X game."

You can't really use the food anology.

Since you'll always have food to buy at supermarket, take home and cook.

But mmorpg without the subscriber number just won't be able to maintain and expand.

You can go to subway and get a veggie sandwich and a bag of sliced apples.

You can go to Chick Fil A and get some coleslaw and some shredded carrots with raisins.

The whole "it's cheap and easy that's why people are fat" thing is just baloney.

People make bad choices, and healthy alternatives are easily available to them that are just as cheap and just as easy.

Unfortunately, good alternatives in the MMORPG world are not so readily available.

The mmo we are told to get vs the one we actually get:

Any other comparison with food fails. :D
