I have symapthy for those that attach their name to an mmo . Its a riskey buisness but for my money its Richard Garriott for the Tabula Rasa mess . My perception is he let personal ambition overtake his roll in the success or faliure of Tabuala Rasa . or maybe Gaute Godager who compared Age of Conan as steak to Warcrafts burger yet unless than two years later he has left blaming others for the way the game has gone while he was the man in charge . |

Anything with a SOE attached to the game! ACH! Everyone on MMORPG.com before every thread put the letters IMO as you and I dont speak for the gaming community or anyone else. Playing: SWTOR, Eve Online, and World of Tanks. |

The mastermind of Warhammer Online should be named here. Why couldn't they just make a DAOC2??? Seriously!
Until Mythic produces another DAOC, they will be on my shit-list. |

I liked Tabula Rasa, had a lot of fun in it despite the problems, and was sorry to see it go. For me, it's Bill Roper. Screwed a lot of people (including me) out of a lifetime HG:L membership, screwed up Mythos, f*cked over an entire company of dedicated and talented people, and just overall doesn't have a clue as to what he is doing. I'd probably have tried CO if his stench weren't all over it. Oh well, I'm sure he'll convince Cryptic to bargain away the IP to a bunch of koreans, seems to be par for the course with him. I hate that man with the flames of a billion internets. Westwood Studios, Bullfrog Productions, Origin Systems, Pandemic Studios, Maxis, and Bioware. What do all of these fine game studios have in common? They made innovative, fun, and popular games. They were communicative with fans and greatly appreciated them. Also, they were all killed by EA. People, for the future of gaming, please do not buy EA products. |

Think I have to go with ncsoft. Its not a bad company, but 3 games over the years and all 3 left my harddrive after 2 weeks. They just dont have games I like, so they are on the short list of never buy again. |

Okay, as much as I hate $OE- you have very eloquently explained to me in simple yet precise terms why I should hate Blizz even MORE. You Sir, have shown me the error of my ways and I stand humbly corrected. I change my vote from $OE to Blizz for the aforementioned reasons. |

Mythic's name shouldn't belong in this conversation. War wasn't perfect, or maybe not even great, but it's not like it was a scam or just atrocious. They deserve another chance. If you say Blizzard you're just a mindless hate-boy. By any objective (look that word up if you don't know what it means) measurement they are excellent developers. NCsoft I could agree with, they've screwed over some good games. SOE made a mistake changing SWG so much, but they can still do good. Free Realms, for what it is, is a good game. Really the worst is probably NP Cube (Dark and Light). |

SOE. In truth, people should be very suspect of anyone involved with the NGE and has subsequently moved on to important, influential roles in other companies. Namely Bioware with TOR and in particular Richard Vogel and Walton (his first name escapes me at this moment). These guys were buddy buddy with Smedley for a long while and unless you were a fan of the NGE, well, think long and hard about giving them a second chance. Yes, there a re more than a few Bioware originals working on this, but they don't hold the status and positions that these two do, which ultimately means thsoe Bioware originals get told what they can / can't do by 2 NGE super Smedley soldiers.

If it contains the words video and game, it must be a WOW clone. |

Originally posted by mmo4life Im sorry to flame here but I dont think the MMORPG genre has every been "hip, counter culture, trendy, big city [WTF?] sexy". I realize your from Taiwan so anything on that shiny box we call a computer probably seems hip but in reality this genre, which started in the US, was created by D&D fantasy nerds (nothing wrong with being a D&D nerd) who wanted to expand upon MUDs. INFACT, World of Warcraft is the closest thing that could be considered a "hip" and "trendy" mmorpg since so many people have played it. Not that it IS "hip" or "trendy" (although you dont see Ozzy Osbourne nor Jay Mohr performing at Ever Quest conventions) but it definitely is far more hip and trendy then other mmos.
ANYWAYS - back on topic; My vote is Mark Jacobs. "The WoW forums are and have always been, the true heartbeat of the game. Having said that... RIP wow. You had a good run." - MAnalog 10/13/10 So WoW is dead? |

Yeah I have to go with SOE as the house I run from at the slightest reason. It's easy and fun to hate on Blizz, and I do, daily, but I'm still looking forward to see what their next MMO will be. One name that surprises me that hasn't come up directly is EA, but that may be just my old UO hate coming to the surface. Played in some form: |
