I'm not exactly sure what Blizzard is trying to do with battle.net. Hopefully they are not trying to create a steam service, so to speak. Whatever they are trying to do, hopefully it'll finish sooner than later. It's delaying SC launch :)

Bnet 2.0 biggest feature is the cross game communication, but unlike steam its intergated into the games, steam has an overlay system but in Bnet 2.0 I can be playing Starcraft 2 and in starcraft 2's chat box I can chat to some 1 playing WoW and it will appear in WoW's chat box.  I can check my Friends list in WoW and see that 1 friend is playing SC2, 2 are playing D3 and 3 are playing WoW etc.

It's true that Steam does not offer ingame chat integration between games. For most games however you can press shift-tab, select your friend from the list and send him a message that he'll instantly view. There is also a notification when somebody comes online. The list also mentions what game the other people are playing.

You need to keep in mind that steam integrates games from different developers, while Blizzard is one big house hosting their own games.

The overlay system although it works its not very nice, hard to play Lf4 and alt out to type a chat to a friend playing Tf2, so blizzard system is a better system, but yes limited to blizzard games only.

Blizzard will be making money from Bnet2.0 with an app style store, people can make maps/mods for SC2 and place them on an online market place store thingy for a small charge (if they want to charge for it) and blizzard will take a percentage.

Seriously, so much bitching and moaning over a simple upgrade in how one accesses WoW and other current/future Blizzard accounts.  Do a little research and you'll find the answers you seek!  I love the idea, and if the first thing that comes to mind; which has for several already is OMG all my accounts will get hacked now, then you need to rethink your online activities outside playing WoW.  Stop being a dumbass and clicking on mysterious links sent to you in-game or though email, and find safer porn / cheat / torrent sites to visit if you refuse to protect your PC properly!

That isn't really fair Coffee, there does seem to be some fundamental issues at the moment with the process. I registered for my battlenet account two days ago and still have not recived a confirmation e-mail. Have logged back into it, checked all the details are correct and re-sent the e-mail, but still nothing!

You know how big a fan of Blizz and WoW i am, but i do have some worries if they can't get that right from the off. Have guild mates who were unable to access their accounts for anything from hours to a couple of days after this process too, so it looks like they need to sharpen this up before crunch time comes around.

aye maybe it was a little harsh, but its was smooth for me and of those of my guild who have done it.

I do work in IT support so often when some on complains about logging in etc the first think that springs to mind is their incompetence as 9 times out of 10 it is their incompetence. =D

I guess with millions of accounts needing to change to bnet 2.0 there will be issues.

honestly, before somebody wrote there is elf on screen, i thought its orc or tauren. this game has so ugly (blunt) graphics. and the penguin looks more like gremlin gizmo

Well they'll be testing Bnet 2.0 when they get around to the SC2 beta, and part of Bnet 2.0 is cross game communication so they probably want Wow moved to bnet 2.0 so they can test that too.

As to wether you need to sub back to get the penguin, probably not.

Side track abit, on my local magazine, game axis, just preview regarding cata, and say release date is Oct next year. Strange, i always thought it'll be around April...
