Anyways, if you read up, you'll see I'm giving it one more shot. |

It's your 5 minutes, so I won't begrudge you of them, but if you can't spend that kind of time reading a post, then why come to the forums to begin with? You'd rather read a page worth of flaming between 2 parties than a longer more mature post? I hope you don't approach college the same way, because you can learn something from anyone. If you just view others opinions as ramblings, you're going to grow as a person very slow. |

Honestly you're not missing much at higher levels. You've effectively played 90% of what the game has to offer. At 25 you get the abyss but the abyss is more like a PvE zone with ganking enabled. Artifacts and Forts are JUST LIKE WAR. Dungeons are boring snoozefests that passed the first one don't give decent XP and all them don't give decent rewards(Bosses with a chance to drop no loot?). If you're getting bored at ~20 then welcome to 30+. Its the same thing except more time per level grinding the same mobs while dealing with 100's of bots that they never ban. |

spot on op, I said this before and during the cb about how there is 0 replay ability. I enjoyed the game what killed it for me is how there is 0 gm's 0 customer support and still yes still 3 hour queue's in the eu.

Rather I skim through. I save reading a few pages of text for when I am reading news, such as can be found on cnn, google news, msn, etc. "because you can learn something from anyone." -- couldnt agree more. I tell this to people all the time. But, that doesnt mean I am going to read every random wall of text on a message board. |

Dont post in a thread if you aren't willing to commit the time to read the OPs post, some of us like to read in depth opinions. It's a waste of other peoples time when you post nonsense. EDIT: You are either posting on a different forum handle than your "main" or you've only been here for two months, what do you know about this forum?

I'm not saying your opinion will change, but give it time. I played the game A LOT since headstart as you read. Most of my characters were 18+, and the rest were around 15. I also got 3 crafts to 99, which adds even more time in-game. Basically, I'm just saying I probably have a lot more time in the game than you, so got burned out faster than you would. So I think it'll be a while, if ever, before you get burnt out on the game. The amount of time I play probably also has an effect on me being bored. Your problem lies in how much you play. How many characters did you have at 18+? Plus all the time you took to level crafting? I would be burnt out too. But I don't play as long as you do because I have other matter to attend to besides my gaming hunger. |

Currently have a 22 cleric and 20 assassin and loving Aion. I plan to roll a 3rd toon once I get both 25+ so their Abyss ready. Sorry to see you got bored but I would to rolling 8 toons right off the get go....lol. Reapeating the same content over and over and over only forces you to pick at the content and look for problems in the game. I think most should disregard your review IMO. Good luck bud! Fair enough. I assumed you were in college, because of the 88 at the end of your username. People generally use numbers like that when they are significant, in this case your birth year. I would also rather spend 5 min reading CNN or the news than some gaming forum where it is a 14 yr old most likely rambling and not a grown mature adult. |

Yeah, I'm sure that's the reason. 18 or above was a Gladiator, Sorceror, Templar, and Chanter. I had 2 lvl 15 SM's, one on two different servers. My scouts were both lvl 13, and my Cleric is now level 12. I tried to give it another go, but I'm burnt out. I know if I get to 22 it may be different, since everything will be new, but it really won't be by much. It'll still be the same gameplay that I've wore myself out of by playing so much. Playing MMO's is cheap entertainment, so that's what I do when I have a lot of free time. Right now, my college schedule is not that demanding, neither is my family, so I've been playing a ton. At any rate, I'll likely put MMO's down for a while and catch up on some single player games and probably read a lot more. My real interest is in Mortal Online and SWToR. AION was just supposed to tide me over. I really like playing around with different classes, but I like to do so in different environments. AION forced me to level up every class in the same environments. There wasn't even much of a variety of mobs if I wanted to change things up, because each level is long enough to bounce between them all before leveling. In DAoC, there were 30+ classes and I played most of them to a significant level. Sure I got bored sometimes, but not like AION. There was multiple starting zones to begin with, and no quests. Grind groups were fun, and the conversation made the grind not boring. Dungeon crawls at lvl 9+ were fun. Fighting in BG's and Darkness Falls also added some variety. So even though I played a lot of classes in that game too, the variety and the difference of the community back then made the game fun. In AION, I have to do the exact things over and over again until about what? lvl 30? Someone said AION was very linear in another thread a couple weeks back, but at that time I was still having fun, so never commented or agreed with that person. The world linear really sums the game up though. I'm not saying AION isn't fun, because it can be if you don't reroll much, and I love the armor styles and the graphics is on par for a modern day MMO. The combat was fun, as were the classes. But the content and the amount of killing needed per level without much of a change in either was just boring. Maybe this could have been tempered by playing only a couple hours a day, who knows. I know others who play less are having more fun. |

I've noticed many people commenting on the fact that I played all 8 classes. I have a question to ask you all. Knowing that the game is grindy and takes a while to reach max level, don't you want to be sure you leveled up the right class? You can read all you want about how a class plays, but you never truely know until you try the class out yourself. You also can't judge a class too early in the game, because some classes don't come into their own until later. Instead of wasting hundreds of hours getting one class to lvl 50, just to find out it wasn't the best class for you, you could spend far less time trying them all out, and then picking the class that's best for you. So it's not that I tried out 8 classes that made me burn out, it's the fact that the game has no replay value. A game with no replay value does not work for those who like to be sure they choose the right class to spend hundreds of hours playing. I'll give you two examples of games with high replay value. DAoC had 30+ classes and 3 starting areas per realm, and a variety of ways to level past that. WoW had 3 starting areas per faction, and a few different ways to level after that. WoW has a lot less replayability than DAoC or EQ did, but it's still a few times better than AION concerning replayability. So for those who like to reroll or try out different classes before committing, AION will bore them quickly, whereas some other games may be right up their alley. On the other hand, those who stick with one class may find AION fun, and more complex in some ways than say, WoW. It really depends on what you look for, but my original post was my feelings and experiences with AION as the type of gamer I am. |

/shrug I played the game during beta and I'm playing it now and enjoying it (lvl 29 ranger). However, I will say this is not a game for going alt happy in because I could see myself getting bored to no end having to run through the same content over and over. That is a flaw in this game that there is one set, linear path for leveling. Once you hit the Abyss it opened up to me because then I have more choice as to what I want to do plus at this level there is more available then simply one to maybe two set areas. However, I do not, least at the present time, look forward going through it even one more time let alone several if I decided to make "numerous" alts. It's a good game, but it has it's flaws one being rather significant if you're someone that enjoys having several alts or likes to play classes to a decent level before deciding which class you would like to be your main. 1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical. 2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself. 3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose. |
