Yup that's why after all they invested.....what is it now ?? almost 20 mil. in this game ???? They never expected to actually make their money back or even *gasp* make a profit out of it and even more a large one for that matter........ they're above money and beyond materialism.

They're not like those big "bad" corps that are only interested in your money, that would lie to you about the state of the game just to squeeze another month's sub out of you, that, that would double charge you just to play on a different server, that would ask you to pay to beta test the game while claiming that the game is "feature complete" [add your own thing "that big corps would do for money but AV wouldn't " here ]........no,no,no Aventurine is nothing like that ;they're a small indie company with a niche game....they're the "good" guys

I mean it's not like they have bills to pay or anything.............you know......

The whole development cost was 10 million. It was said that in a greek interview before release, so its probably one of the cheapest if not the cheapest MMO to produce that came out in the last few years.

I've been burned by my share of games that I had been following that I never subbed to. Never would you find me on the internet campaigning against them for months on end, or trying to stop people from playing it. Why would I care?

I've been coming to mmorpg.com for a long time, much longer than my registered join date states. Most of the people who stood against this game no longer post. So why do you guys still care to such a degree?

Please tell me it's not for attention, because that would be so sad.

Whether you would or not, some people who play the game want to discuss it.

A lot of people have had or still have an interest in the story of DF and where its going. They like me and others hope AV can get it together and pull off a EVE type of revival. I am playing currently and the pop is thin...real thin. There is enough for some pvp but the world size of DF makes it to where you need a vast amount of folks to make it completely playable with its current content. Then again there are people who just like to watch a train  wreck just so they can say trains are unsafe so who knows all the forums have the same thing as this one.

I'll be happy to reply to your question IF you can find me one example of a post of mine that includes:

"...campaigning against them for months on end..."

"...trying to stop people from playing it."

If you are genuinely interested, you'll have to start with a correct background of what has and hasn't actually been posted.  Don't mistake criticism and skepticism for hate or revenge. 

Yeah I can't disagree with the fact that all forums are like this. I spend more time on a Mixed Martial Arts site than I do here. However even though there's as much BS over there, the threads are much more mature (the trolls to). I always thought the bigger brains would have been here.

But thank you for actually responding to my question. I am playing too, and really hope this game will thrive like EVE is now. It's just too much fun (for me).

I think I've been pretty consistent with keeping anything I state as fact backed up with links pointing to where that information comes from.  I've always welcomed anyone to point out any mistakes that I post, and I try to quickly correct them.

I also don't think I've waivered in my stance on DarkFall since it's pre-Beta days.  I've stayed consistent to what I'd like to see from Aventurine and the direction I'd like to see the game take. 

Something to remember is that this forum is meant for all, not just fans of the game.  This forum is NOT the official DarkFall forum.  This is MMORPG.COM's sub-section where we are to discuss ANYTHING related to DarkFall. 

It could be argued that the reasons some choose to post in this section are indeed related to the game DarkFall... but in my experience it would seem that the mods generally disagree with that point of view.   Just an FYI. 

I am actually very impressed with some of the research done on this game. I personally wouldn't go into looking up how much was spent on making the game with as much enthusiasim. When it comes to darkfall I just like to enjoy the show here on the forums about what everyone has to say about it. It was never my type of game. I love pvp, but the risks from what I have heard in Darkfall are a bit too extreme for me and would kill a lot of the joy I feel I would be able to have.

I can understand how Cecropia come to the opinion he expressed regarding you. 

Looking at your post history all posts of yours are made here in these forum, a game you always criticize, you always have to point to negativity. That's not usual  behaviour regarding a hobby like a game if  someone DON'T likes it.

You always point confronted with that to the forum being for anything related to Darkfall and then if there is a topic on official forum with some negative statement you will the firs to find it.

the guys from AV  pulled something of against the stream and against the badmouthing and negative opinions like yours and that thousands can enjoy. No word from you on that.

It was us supporters quoting the source you quoted here prior the game enters beta to document AV having money for to support an ongoing development and i can remember haters commenting with

"Uhm ...convertible bonds isn't "real" money ...that means nothing and the game is vapor" lol 

I'm glad I can give you the same enjoyment you provide for me Darth. 

I didn't happen to notice any examples of falsehoods I've presented as fact about the game though... perhaps I missed it? 

Check back on my post history, you won't find a single post of mine that says anything about vaporware in regards to DarkFall.  You also won't find a single post of mine telling people not to play DarkFall.

Am I cheerleader for Aventurine?  Nope, not by a long shot.  No apologies here for that.  In my opinion they deserve the criticism I've given them.   I've also just recently said I liked some of the things they are doing... go figure. 

You would think that the fans of DarkFall would be a bit more greatful for keeping the interest in DarkFall going.  It's not exactly like this particular forum has been a beehive of activity lately.

Well i typed something along these lines but my browser 's been acting up so i never got to post it so i'll just suffice to say that the above lines that xzyax posted cover my points pretty much, even though i might not have been so eloquent and  would 've put a bit more sarcasm to it and a couple of pics just to lighten up the flavor
