Hey, I was looking foward to Darkfall for about 2 years, came out in a rough way, turned me off, figured I'd wait.. and here I am. Just wanna know if it is what I imagined it to be.

Does it have that one place where all the players on the server generally hang out and show off stuff and trade, talk, duel, socialize?

When you enter the game, do you feel like you have a 'to-do list' to progress?

Can you get lost?

If I wanted to stealth around with a bow+arrow and pick off people, can I do that?

Joining a guild easy? And is the PvP badass or is it still naked people?

Thats it for now, probably more to come, but I imagine my Darkfall character running through the woods stealth mode with a bow and arrow shooting people and stalking people while playing a nice roleplay theme through my head for kicks.

No, No, No, No, and No.   I have never seen a single person post that there are such spots, but that doesn't mean you couldn't try to start one if you decided to try the game out.   All I can say is " Good Luck "

The only item on the " to-do list " that I have seen players post is join a guild, and do the early quests to earn some cash and get used to the game.

You will get owned by magic, but there is nothing stopping you from doing that.

Yes, I don't know if its still rampant, but my guess is it did not disappear.  At least no one has mentioned that naked zerging is fixed.

LoL why you bother to answer  if  you don't play or haven't played in months.

A new large patch is coming out late this month which you may want to wait for, for an even better first experience.

Players are spread out in clan cities and you will find most of them in the amount depending of the size of the alliance holding such a city.  NPC citys holds mostly new players and they don't trust much starngers i guess for wild duells and trades etc. ;)  You will find a lot of "vocal"  talk on voice chat servers of clans/alliances.

No one will tell you what to do, is a sandbox afterall, just grab the first suggested welcome mission  for your first game session tho.

You could for a small timespan, although there are  tools like a zoomable map , minimap and compass to prevent you from it.

Don't fight or use magic while approach someone, go in from his back and use terrain and line of sight, do last steps crouching  and you have good chances to catch someone offguard especially if he is gathering materials.

Joining a clan (guild isn't "darkfally")  is easy , pick a good one , take your time talking to recruiters to find out if the clan fits to you / read  up the recruitement mesage in chats / forums. 

Naked people are cannonfooder.

As someone mostly intrested in PvP you might will have great fun in Darkfall IMO.

 Joining a guild is easy. You cant get lost due to there being a map and minimap. There is no social hub and chat outside of clan/alliance is very quiet. The naked people are still there but the pvp can be fun. When you first start you have a to do list but after joining a clan its more or less go out in a group and whack mobs to raise your skills.

Magic only owns everything in Sieges. Out in the wild you can crush a magic user if you're stealthy and get the drop on him with a bow. I've been killed 95% of the time with melee/archery over magic.

I think magic is overpowered at the high end for sure, but for the majority of the server it's something to run from, like a dragon, and not something to fight. If you see a dragon and stick an arrow in him and he starts shooting walls of fire, followed by sheets of acid at you and your arrow barely touched him, you might want to run. The same goes for certain high level characters.

During sieges, is it instanced?

Also during sieges, is it possible to sneak around as a group of 4 (similar to my other question) and basically pick off the casters in the back with bows without being seen?

One more: Are there queues to get into the server?

No, no, no

If you haven't figured it out yet the answers to most questions that relate to other games will always be no with DF. It has nothing to offer so there can't be a yes answer.

And yes Darth, I have played since back in beta. I quit a couple months ago due to the massive boredom so don't even try going there.

Nothing in DF is instanced, from housing to dungeons to sieges. If its there everyone can see it and join in.

Yes you can sneak around in small groups and try to kill people, I tried it personally and it works till the main group finds you and you get steamrolled.

The thing that sucks is there is no trial so you kind of just have to jump in on faith.  My first couple of days on darkfall I was like "Wtf?" because it really isn't like a modern day run of the mill mmorpg.  It's as if EQ and UO had a bastard child that no one knew about so I had to relearn the old ways which was refreshing.  It's an acquired taste but it pays off imo.

I'm really enjoying Darkfall so much more than i expected too.

But to be completely honest (as I've said in another thread) if I didn't have a background with EVE, I most likely would have quit already. EVE has made me incapable of enjoying "themepark" style games.

Most clans own a city, which is where they all usually hang out.

Theres no true stealth but you can be sneaky, climbing on building and stuff. there is a large patch coming at the end of october that is giving some love to archery.

You can find a clan pretty quickly by watching chat or going on the forums, the pvp is the best in any mmo without a doubt. There are still nakeds but those are the people who dont want pvp, if you want pvp just jump over a clan city wall and start firing =D

 I havn't fought or killed a naked in probably a month, unless they were harvesting or macroing or just respawned (which accounts for a very small percentage of my kills).  But out and about in the wild?  Nope.

Yep I hate the game after following it for over 8 years. Yep I hate being lied to by a charlatin like Tacos. Yep I think it is a POS and guess what failbots? The market agrees with me.

Let me know how it is going in oh say another 6 months. Hell DnL lasted that long.......
