I always said If CCP is ever going to let us colonize planets and build up cities and stuff like that. That it would not be us actually walking around on a planet ala SWG and farming and doing the basic MMO stuff. I've always said it would be more like a strategy game similar to Sim city. Now that we've seen the videos I was right lol. Honeslty Im so freaking happy that it turned out this way. I enjoy Eve and I like that it's a thinking mans (or womens) game and the whole Strategic resource collecting and region control aspect of planetary play goes perfectly with Eve. CCP has already stated that this planetary system will work independantly from Dust so if Dust went down the meta game would still be functional and visa versa. Were gonna get to own and build up a region of a planet and by our actions we will effect others and could either have peace treaties with them or go to war and use the Dust players to fight for your region in dedicated hot zones through contracts. While I'm excited for Dust and Fps gameplay I think the Eve players get much, much more. Seriously im more excited to play a Eve verison of Simcity than I am a Fps lol. I can't fucking wait, this will bring a all new play style to the Eve players and expand the ever evolving sandbox. PLaying: EvE, Ryzom Waiting For: Earthrise, Perpetuum |

So wait... They are actually going implement planet colonization? and ground combat? Ten people who speak make more noise than ten thousand who are silent. |

If the players on the same planet dont get along they can have wars in specific areas on the planet by contracting Dust 514 players to fight for them. The ground combat takes place in Dust514 but the whole reason they fight is due to the player in Eve. So not only does the eve universe get a strategic region building tool set with deep colonization mechanics it also gets a FPS MMO as its ground combat. Even though Dust is another game it wont matter because Dut has no monthly fee, you buy the box and pay for Packs here and there similar to the guild wars model most of us love. it sounds like it could be tough to pull off but think about it. Most of the complicated shit is being held by the Eve players. All the dusters do Is wait for a god damn contract battle to pop up on a Queue screen and then go fight lol. Thats the basics of it. Really Dust looks like it will be just another Matching Fps online but with a really pretty lobby and ability to chat with Eve players and join a Eve alliance. Its so fucking simple it's brilliant. It's about time. I've been hoping for a company to somehow intermingle rts/tbs with fps and mmorpg elements for a complete warfare type package. EvE would be the perfect setting for that, I think. |

I really hope this goes through. Being a hardcore FPS player, I could do your dirty work quite well.
I'm just curious how the battles effect the actually EVE player and their colonization attempts. As, people would only want to contract top of the line players to fight their battles. |

It'd be interesting to know what the FPS players are getting in return in these "contracts." Most successful FPS don't really have loot or anything to separate players' stats too much. But then again, most FPS players just play for the sake of playing. To get better at the game and have fun doing it. |

but one major aspect of dust will be "factional warfare" vs npcs. This is to be able to have fights for when nothing else is going on. Dust Corps will need to buy a war barge if they want to invade another planet, and this thing is gonna be expensive. so they either have some rich eve corp that is sponsoring their war barge right from the start, or theyll have to save up for quite some time til they can afford one and invade other planets. |

Yes also CCP said something about random instant gradification battles if no Eve players had contracts and the Planetary meta game for Eve players will still move forward through politics and if all else fails Nukes from space. Dust will also have a pve mechanic with a storyline im sure. Did you see the Incarna video? CCP is going to let us do spy missions against evil NPCs think detective shit as pve content along with the other shit. All of these new features have multiple ways to play them.
To one of the above posters im sure the contracts will give Dust players Isk and Battle points so they could unlock blueprints for vehicles, weapons and item upgrades. While the Eve player gets a tactical advantage on the planet and Isk.

Access to new weapons, access to new vehicles and modules for those vehicles. im sure that will be enough to keep the fps guys playing a ever evolving space shooter with awesome looking vehicle combat. PLaying: EvE, Ryzom Waiting For: Earthrise, Perpetuum |

I'm definitely looking forward to this and Tech 3 mods and frigs Woop Woop! I'm a man of everything so I'm also looking forwad to supporting my dust merc avatar to do my dirty dealings, this is going to be funsies. This is not a game. |

I think for once I'm going to try to play nice. Maybe pick a nice planet in Amarr space or something and get a handful of friends to take over regions around me so we can all defend it together and watch it grow. It's totally away from what i;ve been doing in Eve but I think I may try to be the nice guy for this feature. I could always go back to being a scumbag when incarna puts in Player combat in stations. EVE players will be able to spend their ingame currency (ISK) to finance the war. It seems like part of the fun for the FPS merc clans is going to be to finding out who's going to put more equipment and money on the table to contract their services.
I believe it was said at Fanfest that EVE and DUST corps will be able to be in the same alliance, so there is also the opportunity for more direct ties and more influence on the political climate of EVE. |

I would definitly be interested in this. As long as they can get an FPS aspect down properly. |

If they can get even close to the gameplay of call of duty 4 or better i would even pay a fee. Just hope it ain't liek planetside, although it was fun the firefighting wasn't very realistic. |

It wont have a monthly fee and im sure the blueprint packs will be optional if your just a casual random battle player.

Yea, I have looooaaadsssss of SPACE where I reside, I know a system with about 50 belts but not sure how many planets and this will give me lots of leeway as to where and what I want to lay claim on and with all my friends joining in it will total and complete DOMINATION. Though I'm not the only one who can see all this. This is not a game. |
