As the line goes....screenshot or didnt happen. I have never heard of a MMO company doing this without first going through your CC company first. Even MO people had to go through their CC company when they got refunds. |

Sorry to hear you didn't like it. It was good of them to refund though. Wish all MMOs would, or at least give atrial on launch so people don't buy things they may not like. |

Whereas its a good point that you made parrot, I mean the game lives up to what it says, but this doesn't really have to be an overblown conversation.. the guy didn't like the game, and they let him get his money back. True or False, if he feels better about it, I guess thats something. |

Sounds like he made a dispute through paypal and they refunded him much like a CC dispute would do. I have zero exp with paypal so could be wrong but doesnt sound like it was Icarus gave the refund. But as I said I have never had to use paypal so know next to nothing about it. |

I'd like to know if the game company was contacted before the paypal dispute was filed. I think that would clarify the situation a bit. |

I've never refunded anything through paypal, but I would expect it to work like a credit card in that if icarus disputed it there would be some sort of dialogue over the charge or something or other. I just didn't want this thread to turn into a witchhunt because the guy didn't like the game. I mean the game isn't for everyone, and the community for FE is so great, even on MMORPG.com its just not worth it to dispute someones preferences. Besides, I wouldn't think icarus is dealing with very many refunds right now anyway. |

You are correct in what you are saying and didnt want it to go that direction either even though I suppose I could have worded it a bit better and less harshly. Anyways bout to get off work and go home and apoc it up for a bit. |

Ahhh, not as described.Hmm i just can't take myself to outright lying to get a refund but i sure would like one, becasue i do not see me playing this game anymore.I have owned it for about 48 hours i guess. How did the OP get his refund?i find it hard to believe they are outright handing over refunds, and i'm not about to lie to get one.The game is pretty much what i expected my gut feelings are seldom wrong, there is just a lack of content or anything to keep me coming back, nothing seems fun to me. If Crafting was done better,i would probably keep playing,as the combat is rather ho hum,an that is the part i look to the most.I'm a combat junkie with a touch of crafting, that is my fun for a game.Well i could get into a diplomatic type game also, sort of like RTTK type of game.I guess it could use some mercenaries for hire,i think the game actually might have it,but it will be darn hard to keep my interest long enough to see it. Someone mentioned i'm a dummy cus my mount has space ..lol,ya 16 spaces, that goes a long way to keep me out in the field longer...lol.I want to play free wheeling,i like to stay out in the field for almost ever, heck i don't much like the usual boring quests because it means i have to waste my life tripping back n forth between them. I think it would be cool in a game like this ,to have say the giant DUNE worms come out of the ground,or heck even skeletons spawn to life in a graveyard ect ect,you see my vision. This is why too much realism does not sit well with me.I like realistic outcomes but not the genre so much ,i tend to like Fantasy where you can create ideas that go outside the box.99% of the mobs look like they have been plotted into a map rather than give me any post apoc feeling. I guess to sum up my feeling is the game has a console generated feel to it,did not give me the eerie scary feeling of wandering through towns and not knowing what to expect.Heck i could see the mobs ,they pretty much stand there .The combat loses my interest not just the lack of mechanics ,but the enemy tends to slide on the vertices, there is no realistic movement by the enemy AI,i guess it lacks enough animations to make it look better.Sure they swing the weapon decent, but the rest of it is weak. http://www.youtube.com/user/Napolianboo#p/u/15/rCYLLQCNc1w |

the game is a niche game but the description basically nails what the game is. Not sure what the OP expected. |

How silly to think they'd actually like to pay salaries and make some money after spending 2-4 years of investment capital on developing a game.

Nothing to add to the OP's post, but I thought I'd touch on this comment here: The game does have giant worms that come out of the ground. They're called 'sandworms' (original, I know), but they're around places like Oilville. Granted, they're not as big as the ones in the Dune stories, but they're large enough, and fast enough to give you a good startle.
Also, while there may not be animated skeletons, there are fun hidden places to find - for example an abandoned hospital filled with zombies, somewhere in Sector 1. By Needle Eye, you'll run into giant flesh-eating mutant fungi, and I'm sure there are lots more encounters like that to be had. http://machineborn.guildportal.com - Now recruiting players! |

Heh, I downloaded this game tonight from Direct2Drive after reading some of the information on the website and seeing some of the screenshots etc. I thought, what the hell, I'll give something different a try. Hmm, I have come to stop trusting a lot of the reviews that are now up online regarding games because of some of the absolute fail that has come out about most of the newly released games. Unfortunately in this instance I should have listened. This is far and away the worst game I have ever played. WOW, holy hell I'm thinking back over the last 4 hours and wondering WTF was I thinking. The game looks bad and doesn't play any better. Lag is fine if you want to turn down the sliders which makes the game look even worse and that's not saying much. I sent in a dispute to Paypal asking for my money back since the screenshots they post on their main forum are not representative of the way the game actually looks and the game play videos misrepresent how the game actually performs. I won't get my money back but at least I tried. =D |
