F2P games normally only mark out about the total number of accounts they have. Its almost impossible to state where they would fit in the p2p model. ex. Maplestory reports 92 million users. ( worldwide ) 3.5 million users back in 2005. ( release year for global version ) Still the max concurrent users was ~70k ( july 2009 global version Although Wizards 101 has a free trail and limited free game play not all content can be unlocked until you subscribe. It does have a $9.95 a month sub fee I do believe. |

You also have to remember that GW has sold a few million boxes (can't remember the number, but I think it was more than 5) and you have to pay to play it. Although not all would call it a MMO... You also forgot Champions Online, not sure how many players it got though. Regardless though all of this is just speculations, to truly answer the question someone need to find facts about it. |

Just to be clear here, Guild Wars is not a Pay to Play game. P2P suggests that you pay a monthly fee to continue playing a game. Guild Wars is a one time payment (and any of the expansions you decide to grab alongside it). Champions Online isn't all that high up there as far as a player base goes. Perfect World has more then 20 million active players. So LoTRO and Aion not even close. There are few other F2P asian grinders with >5 mil playerbase. |

Other than subscription base I don't keep up with many games |

Its f2p as well which would probably mean more players if its a quality game (which it is) And yes i do play this game so im kind of favouriting it but it really is huge. |

There's no way perfect world has over 20million active accounts, in there advertisements they say they have 50 million registered accounts so you mean to tell me pretty much half the people that registered play the game actively? Also if that was the case people would be taking perfect world numbers into consideration when talking about the big dogs and not blizzards. |

Your point being...? It still has a lot of players playing it and I fail to see any implication by the OP to include only P2P MMOs. I think it was around 7 million sold copies. Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference. -Author unknown, attributed to Mark Twain |

This sort of infomation is subject to company hype and is pure guess work. And who cares, as long as your game has a decent population that's all you need? |

Asheron's Call 2 and Tabula Rasa. Just don't tell anyone. |

If Perfect World was doing that well in numbers it would be talked about on a frequent basis in large gaming scheme. We would see it all over E3 all time jus tlike WoW. there would be interviews out there with the lead developer of the game and all sorts of other hype over the game. This forum would have advertsiements for the game year around.
I honestly believe Lineage 2 and FF11 have more active players than perfect world. |

I doubt any F2P game has as many paying customers as even a decently populated subscription game. Lots of people playing yes, but not so many suckered into paying through the nose to keep up with the Jones's. |
