You have to be the most negative freaking eve player I know. Just uninstall already.

Which implies that CCP sliced off ~1/16th of their gross income to fight the ISK farmers. Pretty impressive. How many game companies do you see reducing their revenue by 6% to address player concerns?

It isn't that much about player concerns. It's because CCP know what keeps their game running. The economy is vital to eve, and isk farmers screw with it. CCP needs a market they can control to a certain extend and manipulate via game design changes, to keep everything in a working condition.
So, in order to keep it in a healthy state, they're acting against isk sellers. It makes sense from a bussiness perspective...just imagine Lineage2-esque market inflation in eve, and how it would kill the game.

How many game companies could successfully use that perfectly rational & convincing argument to get authorisation from the money guys to slice off 6% of their gross revenue?

your question is valid and hard to explain hehehe

imo that is linked to corporate incentives, said incentives are payed each year and that make the business plans short is pretty clear that CCP make medium/long time plans so said decision is rational and convincing for a medium/long plan.

A Good Sandbox isn't about your characters abilities; It's about the players ability.

That is pretty amazing. I wonder how many of these players just start another account? I know one thing. Go to any high sec system with more than 7 or 8 belts and you will find hulks that never drop a can and go back and forth between stations and belts for hours on end :(

My Friend does that when he is Studying... With 2 accounts.. I keep telling him use his Itty and make Life easy.. But he just won't.

If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude; greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

It's not that bad from their perspective.
It's not 18.000 that where all active at the same time. More like 5.000. But once they got banned they created new accounts and so on and that lead to 18k total banned.

And the monetary loss is not as high as you would expect because a large part of these accounts are payed for with stolen credit cards and other similar illicit means. This results in charge backs which cost CCP a fair amount of money because when you get too many charge backs the credit card companies starts to up their fees.

These 5000 isk farmers also used a unproportional large amount of server resources. They banned 2% of the accounts and cpu load went down 30%. The means they can fit more real players without getting lag.

That's simple. They are their own money guys. They don't have a publisher sitting behind their back..
