Its tempting, but if I play any SOE game it would be EQII. I stopped playing regularly in 2004, though I've stopped in during the Combine release, Living Legacy and Mayong. When/if I go back to play EQII I will have the All Access account so I could stop by EQ for a visit.

I hope he isnt. While I am currently playing EQ, I am always waiting for a revitalization of Class EQ1. You know, without some of the severities it used to. (but keep the hell levels, those were fun and dreaded and the same time.) It sucks that Kunark is completely deserted now when i used to run to Lake of Ill Omen and see 40-50 people in the zone.

No one is waiting for EQ3 or playing EQ2 or EQ1 for that matter. The games are deader than a door nail and we are waiting for WoW2 and all playing WoW because EQ sucks and always has! If you have any questions please ask. I have moved on to WoW from eq and no longer have any desire to play a dead game. Thank you. (posted by another selling his account in EQ1) |

The way he describes it (1/100 and 5 minutes per), it would take 833 hours to gain one level, say from 75 to 76. That's completely ridiculous. The way I've described it (1/10 and 2 minutes per), it would take 33 hours to gain one level... still utterly ridiculous. I'd say a (somewhat) reasonable grind would be 1/3 of a % per monster and 1 minute to kill them, which would take five hours to gain one level. That's still probably 100 hours to go from level 75 to 85 if you take a rising curve into account. Currently Playing: EVE Online |

The worst thing that happens to me is, after enough dying in plane of air, I lost level 60 and have to go back to grinding to refill my level 60 bar. Yes, it is practically impossible to solo serious mobs for anything, with the exception of some exploits (the necromancer exploit is famous). Even kiting is not fun. At level 13 as a druid, I tried to kite a level 13 crocodile that can bite me to death in 3-4 bites. Yes, I can kite him, if I find a safe area with no other mobs, so I won't end up kiting 2 or 3. Yes I can kite him, but it took so long, its not worth it. Yes I can kite him, but after that I need to sit and med and med and med. I do not know how much easier it is now. But with the new games out there, I do not feel the urge to retry EQ1 anymore. |

is the game still full of players running 3-5 characters?
While I would love to see a game that did allow players more than one character, I like my groups to actually have people to talk with.

I'll answer a couple FAQ for those people thinking of returning: 1. Q: Is EQ all soloable to lvl 70ish? |||| A: Yes, but you can use a tank merc that is pretty much invincible up to lvl 60.(easy soloing yellows and even cons with him) I think I had my wizard from 1 to 60 with 100ish AAs in about a couple weeks playing casual with a tank merc. Post 60... its rough as hell. No groups, and the grind begins. 2. Q: Is the population still healthy? |||| A: Yes on Mayong, Maybe on (Storm, Luclin, Maelin, and Euro Server), and No on all others. 3. Q: The Grind how bad is it? ||| A: 1 to 60 flys by... 60 to 70 is very very unforgiving... 70 to 85 not as bad with SoD zones. 4. Q: Once I hit 85 with 1k AA can I raid? ||| A: Maybe, depending on your class. If you roll a Zerker, Rogue, Wizard, Enchanter, or Cleric... it will be much easier. If your a monk, ranger, warrior, SK, pally, necro, magician, etc... it will be much harder to get into a raid guild. 5. Q: Do Groups get easier once i hit 85? |||| A: Nope, casual grouping is dead. Get friends or guildies to group with, because you have a better chance of hitting the lotto than getting a PUG. (I'm 85 Monk with full T4.5 Raid Gear 30k + HP 4.5 k AC unbuffed and I have problems getting groups... I can only imagine being under geared and tring to group.) 6. Q: Is underfoot worth getting? ||| A: Sure, it gives you all the xpacs, but you will never go there. Even having raid gear from SoD, It is impossible to solo with a merc. You need a balanced group with CC, Puller, Tank, and Healer to do Underfoot.

I would suggest playing eq1 in some form or another until 38Studios FINALLY releases "Copernicus". I think that game will capture much of the best of all mmo worlds. Imagine if you were Curt Schilling. Loads and loads of money, bring in an awesome team and tell them to design you the perfect mmo!!

This IP will have an MMO, single player games, books etc. I don't know if when a company's initial focus is on how they design the biggest money making system that the gameplay will all of a sudden be stellar.
I prefer AC as my old school game as it has monthly updates for free instead of yearly expansion packs. I also don't know if EQ still makes you buy all those expansions or just gives them to you for free, but AC gives you it all for free with the 14 day trial and then you just have to start subbing.
Would be interesting to see an EQ3 and AC3 both release some day though. |

points 5 and 6 of that FAQ...
It sounds a lot like a return to the gates of discord design model.

Funny you should mention this, because that exactly what the playerbase was asking for on this expansion. Many folks were upset that SoD was too easy, so they "stepped up" the difficulty to be what GoD was to those Time geared guilds. Of course, I haven't seen near the bugs in UF that GoD had hehe. In a way the expansion is really neat because of the difficulty, I just can't find realiable groups to play there on a daily basis. |

Im still burnt out from playing EQ...If you've jsut started from scratch, you got a LONG way to reaching 50k HP/MANA....Its just too rediculous now for me to want to come back. BTW the new mobs in the expansion is hitting for 4-10k damage. Haha...My main guy would die in 2 or so hits. |

I actually think EQ Next is real, but I also agree that it wll be a heap of solo quest grind MT pay to win BS with a fantasy skin on it. It's just what SOE do nowadays. It was never the lore of EQ I loved, but the social co-op play and shared adversity of it all. |
