Now if only we could have a list of upcoming MMORPGs that was this great! ____________________________ "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but I know World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones." - Albert Einstein |

**boggle** No Dragon Age: Origins? Wonder if that falls under the category of spiritual successor and thus was excluded... Some games do look interesting, particularly Borderlands and I am alive. Oh wow, it's pretty depressing when I look at my "Must buy these games!" -list. It's full of sequels like: Modern Warfare 2, Just Cause 2, AvP Colonial Marines, Mafia 2, Jumpgate Evolution, Max Payne 3, Neverwinter Nights Online etc... It's like the gaming companies are out of fresh ideas and leeching money with old, though working concepts.
Well, not sequels: Borderlands (been waiting it for a loooong time), Black Prophecy, Global Agenda, Zombie Driver :P, Infinity, All Points Bulletin... Argh! Ask me about sequels next time! :D |

...because we know magazines like GamePro can never steer us wrong.
Does it make me ignorant and blatantly old-school to say that "these games look too pretty to be any fun" ? I'm sorry but i've been less and less impressed when games are so pretty. Unless you're talking about RTS where picture detail is a plus (and I suppose it's GamePro so that's mostly the case here), a pretty game for me means they took a great new idea, and made a really pretty demo of what they wanted to do with it. Like when they call it a sandbox game in their promotions but when you play it you quickly realize that it isn't. Maybe my expectations are just too high. |

One of the tricky things with non-sequels is that it's rather hard to predict how they will actually pan out. Unless they're sequels in everything but name (i.e., the same genre and basic gameplay as another title from the same developers), all we have to go on is previews. Looking forward to these titles is one thing, but labeling them the "best" anything before anyone's had a chance to play them seems awfully premature. Need I start listing titles that generated enormous pre-release hype that they failed to deliver on? |
