Yeah its great if you enjoy a 5 year old engine, lag issues, crash issues. A Pure CRAFTING/Sandbox game. Graphically, well it takes place in a desert, so any 10 year old can do a desert with a box of crayons. The game does not even compare to Aion or WoW or any other P2P game. Pretty sure even Asheron's Call beats FE.

If you plan to play eq2, i would recommend any server besides Antonia Bayle, as it is far too high in population and it adds to people's distress.

I can attest to the Guk server as it has a friendly population, enough people forming groups all the time and an active economy.

WHOA WHOA WHOA! a troll on THIS forum? not possible.... I want to see it!

There is a difference between lag and crappy framerates.  If your computer could play WoW fine you should be able to play Aion fine as well.  My rig actually played Aion better with x8 AA compared to WoW, I got like 30fps when I was in org but I never dropped below 40 in Aion when there is 100's of people in the starting area.

So if its lag things arent as responsive, you press a hotkey it takes a second or 2 to react or things will freeze then all of a sudden your dead that is lag.

Whether WOW's engine is old is irrelevant. If a player thinks that the graphics good, that is good enough. WOW's engine is old but the art direction is timeless and things still look good.

That itself is a BIG competitive advantage. If Aion cannot make a un-demanding graphics engine and make their scenes look good, it has no ground to complain about its competition who can do so.

WOW is a fun starter MMO but it's graphics are terrible...Period.

Lineage II, Guild Wars, LOTRO, Granado Espada (SOTNW) are examples of good art direction. WOW is not, so for the LAST time stop trying to add it to the great art direction list. Their goal was a game that could be played on a toaster and they succeded. Their bet payed off.

 That was the price they were prepared to pay for it to run on any pc.

Actually World of Warcraft has a great art direction. Its visuals are outdated from a technical perspective, sure, but from an artistic standpoint the game looks stunning.

From a graphic & artistic standpoint it's among the worst made....Period.

Well like others said its NOT the graphics in AION.. its a OLD graphics engine. Its just your conection TO Aion. But your not alone others seem to be having alot of this lag..

not really both have the same amount of solo/group play

It sounds like you quit due to your pc performance not meeting its requirements.

It's too bad you weren't happy with the game, but - and correct me if I'm wrong - I can't think of any MMO that WASN'T laggy when it first came out, at least a bit. Regardless of how well run a beta is (and I wasn't involved with the Aion beta, so I can't speak to that in particular) going from running a beta to a full player base is going to be a process.

I would play a single player RPG till this MMO mess gets sorted out. Risen and Gothic's succesor are about to come out, Drakensang is already out and Diablo 3 is probably going to be really fun.

IF you really want an MMO, I would look at LOTRO or WoW, both good games with good support to be honest.

You can keep up this art direction is bad all you want, fact of the matter is that World of Warcraft's art direction has been universally praised by critics all around the world.

Blizzard doesn't have to pay the price because you're confusing technical and artistic. A game that looks artistically impressive doesn't necessarily look good from a technical perspective and vice versa, so to say that blizzard has to sacrifice in artistic to run it on all pc's is a big misunderstanding.

If WoW has a bad artistic design in your opinion, which is pretty much universally disagreed with, then what do you consider an mmo with a good artistic direction?
