Count from all TV Series and Movies. I was trying to work it out while stuck in traffic this morning. See if you can remember before you Google it.

Archer,Pike,Kirk, the guy from the enterprise B,the woman from the Enterprise C, and Picard. That makes 6. Can't remember the names for the captains on B and C because they only appeared once. MMOs played:SWG,NGE,Warhammer, World of Warcraft, Star Trek Online,Eve, Star Wars the Old Republic. |

I seem to recall Riker was captain in one of those strange timewarp episodes from Generations. The one where the enterprise decloaks and blows a hole the size of a small moon through some enemy ship.

There was also a Captain April that commanded between Pike and Kirk(or maybe before PIke). That makes 7. |

Janeway was on Voyager and Worf temporarily held the rank of Captain on an episode of the Next Generation. |

I thought about including April but the OP said series and movies. Far as I can recall, April was never mentioned in either unless you're counting the Cartoon Series, which Rodenberry himself said wasn't considered part of the canon. MMOs played:SWG,NGE,Warhammer, World of Warcraft, Star Trek Online,Eve, Star Wars the Old Republic. |

Hmmm! Good point. April was backstory put in by Gene when he made the original series. |

Robert April is generally considered by Star Trek fandom to be the first captain of the Enterprise. Also, since the question says "How many captains has the Enterprise had" and not "How many captains have commaned an Enterprise" the answer would be, "Depends on which enterprise you are referring to." NX-01: Archer NCC-1701: April (not seen or mentioned but since Gene himself mentioned him he counts), Pike, Kirk NCC-1701-A: Kirk NCC-1701-B: Harriman (only one seen and mentioned) NCC-1701-C: Garrett (only one seen and mentioned) NCC-1701-D/E: Picard Also, this is based on the "prime line"...no time travel stuff here. Until you cancel your subscription, you are only helping to continue the cycle of mediocrity. |

There was another unmentioned "crew" of the NCC-1701-A mentioned at the conclusion of Star Trek 6. Kirk and his crew (not the ship) were decomissioned.
Also, in TNG, a couple episodes where Picard was held prisioner by the Cardassians, Captain Jerico (I think that was his name, it's been years since I've seen the episode) was commanding the Enterprise. |

Riker HAS been Captain on the ship before the last ep. Around Wolf-359 when Picard was Lacutus Riker was given a feild commission of Captain of the Enterpise but then handed the title back to Picard once back abord the ship Bring on the WARRRRGGHH! |

Jonathan Archer (ENT) Robert April (TAS) ChristopherPike (TOS - pilot) James T. Kirk (TOS) Commodore Matt Decker (TOS - The Doomsday Machine) Commodore Stocker (TOS - The Deadly Years) Willard Decker (ST1 - refit and shakedown, demoted when Kirk resumed command) Spock (ST2) John Harriman (ST:Generations) Rachel Garret (TNG: Yesterday's Enterprise) Jean Luc Picard (TNG) William Riker (TNG: The Best of Both Worlds) Edward Jellico (TNG: The Chain of Command) (also - Data (Countdown graphic novel which is the main timeline run up to the new movie and in the STO: Path to 2409 posts) though I am not sure if it counts since it isn't in a series or movie which was what the OP was asking...) Had to look up a couple of them to get the spelling right, and I had forgotten about Jellico in that TNG episode and Stocker from that TOS episode. |

To add to the list for alternate time lines or possible future lines and known from images: Unknown captain of USS Enterprise XCV 330 (ENT: "First Flight", ST:TMP) Captain Forrest of ISS Enterprise (ENT: "In a Mirror, Darkly") (not including captains Pike and Kirk or commander Archer as they are already in the normal time line list) Unknown captain of USS Enterprise-J (ENT: "Azati Prime") |
