You also have to take into account that many people are holding off reviewing this game if they are casual players because they haven't leveled enough yet to see all of the content. Most of your good ratings and bad ratings right now are people who either just didn't like the game and didn't see all of the content, or people who are so hyped about it that they gave it a good rating, without seeing all the content. Remember too that some of the free games, which IMO are inferior to this title and many other titles are actually rated high mainly because people really like free things. So ratings on this site are somewhat suspect. They should really seperate the free games and the P2P games as seperate classes considering that the few free games I have tried were not very good with the exception of Saga of Ryzom, which has limited free play, at least when I played it. In short the ratings on this site really don't indicate whether or not you'll like a game very well. True Neutral Half-Elf Ranger Mage |

The ratings on this site have never been worth the cyberspace they take up.
Warhammer is still 8.25
Aion is 8.35
Warhammer is very close to closing its doors or becoming F2P. It's the worst disaster in MMO history, yet it is still a top ranked game. I think this site is more about selling software than honestly rating games.

I don't think it is that polished at all. For a year live with tons of players Aion has a shocking number of unpolished elements. Of course, if you stop and realize that the lack of polish is just the nature of a game made for Korea then you get to the heart of the issue of this topic, that being Aion is just not a game for NA/Europe.
That being said, I think the title of the topic is a bit much, Aion is not at its 'end' and will likely do well enough to justify the launch in the US/Euro. Heck, games like Conan and Warhammer even managed to draw folks to keep the lights on. However, the idea that Aion is a 'big' title in US/Euro I think is over reaching and once the 'nothing new is out' effect blows over Aion will just be another also ran. Besides, games like Aion with their gank or be ganked PvP system never do very well as in short order the folks who want more compelling PvP leave and all that is left is the gankers and since they only get off on fights where they have little resistance the lack of people to gank wears thin and they move on to corrupt another game. When are DEVs going to realize that the whole 'crush to win' and 'no crying in the red circle' type PvP has little to no appeal? People want PvP, even non consensual PvP, but they want it to be fair and not dominated by roaming ganks squads and griefers. -------------------------------- |

Nope, they don't. 8.25 for Warhammer is ridiculous and we all know it.

Other than personal experience, in most cases outside some extreme of a game that is terribly flawed and dysfunctional, there is no way to say if a game is good or not as that is a completely subjective judgment for each person. However, ratings like those here and forums comments can help people get a sense of whether a game is something that might be up their ally. -------------------------------- |

Those ratings are one of the worst parameters to use. The best idea you can get from a MMO is judging it at release, then 2 months later. |

Easy, Mr reality hit the players. WAR didn't start to drop until poeple hit T3, I guess hitting the place where you see how good the game truly is goes faster with Aion. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Aion is better or worse than most other MMOs but the game got too hyped just like WAR. LOTRO was never that much hyped. And it never sold as much initially as WAR and AION. |

The game is really about GanknGrind with a few other things mixed in that doesnt mean its a bad game it just not for everyone. for alot of people tring to get away from WoW, to them it just feels like a asian WoW theme. But over all the game is ok and polished, just not for everyone. Sic semper tyrannis "Democracy broke down, not when the Union |

Wrong again...people who can't think for themselves may care what a game is rated or what others thnk of it. but there are those of us who like to decide for ourselves what we will like and what we wont. Like i said before, just as this is my opinion, all the other posts on here are others opinions. Doesn't mean they are right or wrong. Best thing is try it for yourself and then decide if you like it. Ratings are a waist of time. I'm not an IT Specialist in real life, but I play one on the internet. |

It drops because some of the honeymoon has wore off. Then you also have those that bought it and were disappointed out of the gate. Lots of reasons as it should settle in line with thte rest of the NCSoft games and pvp games. It wasnt going to stay number 1. |

It is all based on money game earns and ratings of the game. Publisher will not invest into something that HE finds is not woth the investment. He is not interesed in how good game is, or do you or me like it, he is only interesed in money income. Sad, but true. |

I want a skill-based world, not a theme park like WoW, but that is not because WoW is a bad game or that I think the people that play it are stupid just for playing it. That sort of game does not appeal to me on a different more fundamental level. Frankly, I am annoyed at the "WoW clones" that are becoming so prevalent, because I hate the idea of having so many games that are so very similar. The reason I want a fleshed-out world is that I am a roleplayer and theme parks are terrible for roleplaying. Just imagine, in WoW, everyone has done the same epic things, killed the same incredibly powerful monsters. When everyone's course is the same, roleplaying is a ridiculous concept, even though there are roleplayers there. How can you roleplay evil when the only quests are those that are those of heroes. It is very rare to have a quest that is something an evil person would really do. Or what if you want to roleplay some more specific concepts, it will be difficult in places because you are "on a rail." "Gamers will no longer buy the argument that every MMO requires a subscription fee to offset server and bandwidth costs. It's not true — you know it, and they know it." —Jeff Strain, co-founder of ArenaNet, 2007 |

Speaking of rating and I don't want to derail here. But if AION is going down how in the world is Atlantica online evening off with Lotro. I've plaid both and to me and probably that's why it seams wierd .. .but to me they are not equal in popularity.
Anyways happy hunting /dance <-- hahah I love that emote. |

Ok now I'm a true believer of the OP. Look at it today down another 5 spots at 8.24 hehehe Does mmorpg boost up ratings for new releases then rely on the hate to gage where it should be? Course I don't know but anyways, it sure makes something interesting to observe.

It's a hype meter, the rating should be null. There is nothing to "hype" the game is released.
