Worst Beta Sign Up Process In History. lol. Okay maybe not that bad, but it's quite laughable in a sad way... All day long, the site has pretty much been dead. When it IS up, it isn't for long. WHILE it is up, the process sucks with some automatic java computer scanning crap, which COULD be working, or maybe it's frozen... who knows! Frustrating and annoying but, whatcha gonna do aside from keep clickin' that REFRESH lol
--not to mention BioWare has sent me the same email about my account being updated almost a dozen times lol. |

I was finally able to sign up about 10 mins ago.
It was brutal, had to keep refreshing and backpaging to get it to work but eventually got through the scan and application process.
And yes I did say early Q2, and my statement above about being "not far off" still stands, even if we get late Q2, being a late spring early summer release puts it right about where I figured it was in the development cycle.
In my game theory class at the AI in Seattle we actually did a "imaginary timeline" for production of a game and the teacher compared it to the imaginary timeline he made up for TOR.
He had it as a June launch and that was coming from an insiders' knowledge of development cycle times.

Every time I get to the 'scan computer' part, I get some crap trying to install on my computer... Java is up to date... the software is from System Requirements Lab... but when I go to install it, I just get a message and from there it's pretty much over and I have to refresh and try again. WTF :/ ever hear of uploading a DXDIAG? ugh... |

Originally posted by DeaconX That's system requirements lab, go check it out online, it uses java to scan your computer and can tell you if you can run a game or not using charts to mark your performance. DXDIAG would have been easier, but I won't doubt the ever knowing BioWare. =P |

After you guys scanned your machines, did you have to click anything to confirm/finalize the process? Basically an incomplete window pops up for me showing some of my system infor... no buttons, no scroll nothing else. Just a pop up I can't do anyting with :/ |

Darn thing just loops back to the initial registration page very time I try to submit my personal information. I think Bioware learned a tough lesson here. They have not done an MMO before. I have never seen an AAA MMO fail at the beta sign up stage before. They got slammed and were not prepared. I hoped they learned something from this. |

Obviously there's someone else trying to get in beta too! :) The page seems very sluggish and I just got my account replied with message "Sorry, you don't meet the criteria to create an account". :D |

Thank you Sabin. That worked. Still felt like a pretty poorly planned and executed beta sign up... Wonder how many people flooded the site to cause it to crash so badly - the actual site is still not working, just the beta sign ups. |

Only reason I can think of though. But hey, I'm a happy camper. I got the signup done the moment it was open. Personally, i think they should have closed new forum registrations that day and only let those in that were already part of the community.
But I'm guessing that would have annoyed a good number of people who just want the Beta and not be part of the actual community. ^^ |

I got stuck this morning at the system scan. It seems the scan completes, but it shows my system info up to sound card and then doesn't do anything, and there's no continue button like other steps. My account info still says scan incomplete. Guess I'll have to try again when I get home from work. Maybe this is a test to see who will make good beta testers by making the sign up a PITA lol. |

For those of you having issues with signing up, please review some of the responses to the announcement article -
www.swtor.com/news/news-article/20090929_001
Many folks are having the same problems and there are several suggestions given to overcome these difficulties. I had the problem of being forever stuck in the computer scan, so I tried the suggestion of switching browsers (from IE to Firefox) and bingo! My sign up then went quickly and flawlessly. Good Luck to those that have already signed up and those who keep trying to sign-up.....patience, persistence and a level head are nice traits to have in Beta testing. |

Finally managed to sign up for beta. Every time I did the scan it went back to the original page, so after checking one of the comments, I went into my account and at the bottom it has scan and details complete and the box was ticked for me wanting to be in beta, so I clicked update on that. Now when I go to the games testing portal, It says congratz etc.... The first few times I couldn't even get to the scan part but after a total reboot, that seemed to help. |

That thing asked me for my info 3 times before I even got the scan process. It worked though and hoping I get in! |
