Aion homepage news item quote with comments: "Queue Times and Waiting to Play Aion is a nice game (played OB) but be warned you will face multi-hour login queues until NCSoft decide to add more servers (all servers are full unless you play midweek during working hours), evenigns or weekends are a big nono. This is not a new problem either, server queues were a big problem in Open Beta and are have been getting worst on daily basis. Have fun

In the EU at peak times the servers all have long queues. I guess you can play late if you want to avoid this, but it isn't ideal for a launch. Likely they will add some more next week. Those may be the ones to go for... |

This is just becoming a total shambles more and more! Only 5 English servers were put up for whole Europe (except germany and france), including lots of Russians. And yesterday they finally put up a new server and guess what?? Another frigging German server!! Is NCWest that clueless??? The germans already got 4 whole servers for themselves!! They should have put up a new English server instead last friday, when the game launched. So new players could go to a new server! Now they all try to crank in already overflowing FULL servers, driving the queues up and up more. |

I know servers are expensive too run but this does seem a little nieve on NCsofts' part. Is it not easier to have too many and scale back rather than try to add once launched? If anyone is an expert is server set up, is it not a case of adding the client to a blank server and linking it in? Why does it take so long to add spare capacity. I would have thought you could add some easiy in a day rather than a week? What am i missing technically that makes this sooo damn hard
To err is human....to play is divine |

I've been trying to connect since just before midday (some 5 hours ago), the queues are just getting longer with more frequent queue disconnects. All in all what we have here is someone selling something they cannot provide. Its a lottery (or at least a limited ticket concert) where buying the actual game does not mean you can actually play it. Obviously they can't deny you a refund as they have not provided you with a game you can actually play, but like most of the MMO addicts around here I just want to get online and level. Its amazing what we'll forgive if they just let us login :) Anyway, off to the UK for a couple of days (live in France) and will see how things are when I return. Good luck all! |

NCsoft is doing a good thing here, we might feel the pain of the wait now, but history shows few full servers is much better than many empty ones, this is mmorpg, the more the merrier of character that you interface with. One should not repeat the mistakes of AOC at their release with tons of servers,,, |

The problem with AoC was that they LOST their players... maybe NCSoft are aiming to go down a similar route of losing disgruntled players... Ohh yes, and I can no longer even enter a queue, simply get a message saying the server is not acceptin any more players. Been trying to connect for 5 hours. You actually defend this? |

This is my opinion: US users need not reply as you have your own little perfect Aion world to play in... After having to reroll once already due to Queues of 3000 plus, I now can't get onto my newly chosen UK server due to 'too many users', I can't even join a queue... Everyone that says NCsoft is doing the right thing by limiting the servers is an idiot. NCSoft basically gave up without even trying and have made themselves look foolish. Talking about empty servers is completely irrelevant, there are 400k users trying to log in! Its not hard to merge servers if they ever needed to, and that wouldn't be for a number of months in any case even if people weren't sure if they liked this game. From what I have seen there is a good core of users that do like the game, but are very pissed with the waiting times and feel cheated. NCsoft don't really deserve long term success when they make stupid decisions like this. It just annoys me they can take the cash for 400k orders and then leave the consumer to rot in a long queue (with no real alternative). Though I am aware in the US it seems to be going a lot smoother. This is another thing I don't understand, as I would have thought the EU would have been a better target market for long term subs. I do like Aion, but already I hate NCsoft. They aren't going to get much of a name for themselves (in the UK at least). End of rant.

For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical. 2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself. 3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose. |

It is almost the DUMBEST post i have ever seen in my life:D Let me give you an example: you: tell the doctor that your leg is broken and you cant move it an inch. You ask for his assistance, and pay the money to be treated up front. (as u been told) the good doctor, (we call him Doctor NC for now): tells you that it probably hurts when you try to move it. You say: yes it hurts- Doctor NC: you probably shouldnt move that leg. You: yeah sure. Doctor NC: Be glad that your other limbs are not broken You: err.. what has it got to do with anything? Doctor NC: ''The weather is so lovely today''. You: are you gonna treat me or not? maybe give me a painkiller, or plaster ? Doctor NC: no...no........ it costs money, i wont do it, BUT I WILL PRAY TO MY GOD , who is aptly named Aion (in game) so that he cures you. You: dude,THATS A LAUSY WAY OF TREATING A PATIENT!! your prayer aint gonna help me with the pain, or the leg. Besides i DID pay you up front, didnt i? just treat me allready! DO something!! Doctor NC: yess..... yes... no..... yeeeeeesss You: dude ....? Doctor NC: nooooo... yess. You: Dood your not making any sense anymore Doctor NC: yes...... no... you should probably go to a hospital and have a doctor check your broken- leg out..... You: I AM* in the god-darned hospital!! You ARE the freaking doctor!! Look , if you aint gonna treat me, just gimmi back my money and i will go someplace else. Doctor NC: well, we are trying everthing we can to allivate your problems. Thank you for dropping by! Come again! You:WTF?? Doctor NC: Thank you, come again! ..................in the end, it wasnt just a loss of cash, it was also a loss of time.
I think that the ''Aion homepage News item'' mentioned above helps us as much as Doctor NC helps that poor injured guy:D

well my queue time is 2 hours, thats far too long, 5 english servers isnt enough. |

9/27/09 10:24:25 AM#20
There are no new English servers, only an extra German one... How stupid is that!?!?!
Infact the smallest queue is 2 hours 15 mins... 4 of the 5 servers are too full to even allow connection... |
