It is like a breath of fresh air for me. Yesterday I formed the first group to kill elites and guess what ... first thing we did were chain wipes. Then I said, hey guys this ain't WoW you can't just run in an DPS nilly willy ... use your skills, CC one mob, let me pull (tank) then the gladiator can offtank when the CC-d mob wakes up.

maybe your memory is failing, but dungeons in WoW are a challenge. Now if you bring your level 80 toon into a low level instance, no CC needed of course. Aion group mechanics are the same as WoW and other MMOs. Saying AION requires more thought does not make any sense to me. You have been the only person I hear to say AION requires more thought. I guess it's because AION is a new game. |

Yes, it is true that when you start out you have only a couple skills as you learn to play and your character grows. But as you level you get a lot more skills. And once you are reaching your level 22 and 25 skills the situation starts to change completely. You have to think and use different skills depending on the kind of opponent you are facing, the position of the opponent (the different classes face different situations, like for example a gladiator : if the enemy is standing still or if he is hopping around or flying (you miss due to your lacking accuracy so you will use different skills); or if he is lying on the ground following a kickdown you will use special skills that do more damage in this situation, etc... etc...). Add to this the added skills you get with the stigmas. This game's fighting system is very complex. The difference will be 2-3 levels higher opponents, the speed of your kills and the number of opponents you can take on. What you are saying equals "I could only play with auto attack and never use any skills". -> The best systems are always "easy to get into, but difficult to master".

This game requires about as much thought as walking and chewing gum. Which might be hard for people with a low IQ, but is almost like everyother game that has come out for a normal person. |

In Wotlk non-boss mobs almost never do anything surprising. How many times do you need CC in Wotlk - I used to play healer so I have a good understanding of mobs/aggro etc. we never need to CC in regular or even heroic instances.

In WoW you can solo an equal level elite - Here? Not so likely - maybe if you had a full DP bar and were uber geared. But even in that case you would not be able to do it twice in a row. |

It's tank, heal, burn, wth requires thought about that. This has been the MMO formula for generations, welcome to MMOs. I play Aion regularly I have a lot of fun with it but never once have I ever had to stop and say "hey guys this guy is tank type we have to do this differently." Never it is the same formula all the time, now when you get end-game content and you start facing end game gear dropping bosses well then you have more resistance or a strategy needed to beat that particular boss. That my friend, has also been in MMO for generations. So no Aion does not require more thought than any other tank, heal, burn MMO. To think otherwise is a clearly a fanboy approach. It looks pretty, it plays well, but it is no different.

There is definitely some variance class to class, and most of this - and all combat for that matter - comes down to the combo skills and how to play them out to achieve CCs that don't come with a hotbarred skill by themselves. I think LotRO and a few others did the whole "attack > follow up attack" style, but I don't care since I didn't expect even this much from the combat mechanics to begin with. Perhaps everyone else's expectations were out of whack, did we not know what kind of systems where employed beforehand, or was this supposed to revolutionize combat? I think the game's entire gimmick was on the flying aspect, I never expected much else to interest me, but it's fine for what is. Glofish, I hope you are not referring to the elites in boc, I have been in there soloing since level 19 and can solo all but the named elites. I am certain another level or two and those will be just as easy, nor does it require any effort; pot spam, hot's (my char is a chanter) and spam the same six button combo over and over until dead, rinse and repeat. Think I am talking out of my hat? The char name is Soulcleaver and is a level 20 asmo chanter on the castor server (eu). Come and look me up if I can bloody login and I will show you how difficult this game is.
uk.aiononline.com/livestatus/character-legion/search Thats the link to my char, so you can see I am wearing the same gear everyone is getting at this level. Nor am I referring to the level 16 elites at the entrance, I started grinding, on the level 18 seekers, stalkers, body guards this morning as they give 9k xp each at my current level. Before somone whines about healers being opp'd, I was doing the same in beta with my Templar My Colour Is Vomit green, I puke on the tards with stupid colour sigs. My symbol is ,,!, O ,!,, My enemies are any prat with a colour sig, a meaningless personality test, or a pointless list of games and classes.
