I think game companies shoot themselves in the foot when they have ugly aesthetics.  There are some amazing computer artists out there and they can make really wonderful looking characters that are even not very system intensive.

Problem is that in this game they shouldn't look too pretty or perfect. After all you play a woman trying to survive on her own out in the wilderness. 

Just look at fallout, the base characters are not very pretty, and then there is a LOAD of mods to change body type (mostly done by asians) and the end result while being pretty really does detract from the style and sense of the game.

I don't mind babydoll faces - some high ranking Traveler probably has a couple of pretty faces running games or just hanging on his arms for good business, but to take an existing character that's rolled to be weather beaten and turn it into something that belongs in a casino or a dance club shows lack of respect for the gritty world they created in the first place.

What a silly thing to do.

Oh, and hands up, how many of the people who liked the 'after' picture are guys? :P

'Who wants an ugly  chick?' Ptuh... It's a post-apoc world. How many pretty chicks do you think there'll be once the make-up and hair products run out? xP

Ok I havent bought the game yet so I can only go by the pictures available in the link, but how on earth can people be saying those original character models are bad or ugly? They look pretty realistic to me. In fact they arent all that different in quality from what you would see in one of the later Half Life games.

I dunno......maybe they look worse in the game but in those screenshots they look decent enough to me. Your average person in real life doesnt look like a super model so why aim for that look as standard?......especially in a post-apocalypse setting of all places! The new revamped models still look good but they do indeed look like barbie dolls....which is a shame. So does this now mean that if I wanted to create a female character, I wont have the option of looking normal or "weather beaten" and most now look like a pretty model from a beauty magazine? What about the guys faces in this game? Do they look normal or have they been converted in catalogue cut-outs as well?

Its also a shame that the developers appear to have deviated from their original vision of what their game should look like and caved in to what the male masses demanded. I'm not surprised if female players are annoyed at the changes. The guys get to look normal while the women have to to look like dainty barbie dolls. Thats a real shame. Whats next? Manga characters simply because they look pretty? Post apocolypse should not = pretty. This is Fallen Earth not Aion.

Yeah... they both look like they got hit in the face with a shovel at some point during childhood. The "after" picture is a slight improvement... but its like putting lipstick on a pig, you know? Why even bother?

You're totally overexagerating. Those character models look fine. They certainly look better than what most other MMO's offer. If you want to see what truly hideous character models look like then take a look at Vanguard.

They used to be really nice with some work.. then they changed them.. Oh wait... ;p

I am counting the hours now to get the game [2 hours] if the females look like  barbie dolls then what is the world coming to, I tell you what all of the scum will be going after the barbie dolls unless they like males that is so what better bait :>

You have to look at FE for what it is it is hell and we all have to walk though it and do what ever it takes to survive in it besides the pretty one will not be out in the wast land any way they will be in some sort of town of some sort where it will be safe for them

As for the change in looks and such I do hope that it dose NOT go so far has to look like Manga characters if it dose that will kill it for me right there ans make it a wast of $50..

Over all from the looks and sound of it this game was made for me, I am a big CyberPunk fan and this has a lot of that feel to me and it looks like I will be playing this game for a very long time :>
