I don't even have words. The female model was one of the top selling points to me for FE. They better not change the body shape, too.

I swear, if I log in and my avatar suddenly has a 20 inch waist and DDs, I may ragequit.

I'm trying to write this in a way that isn't just a QQ. I love the game. But... who was it who wanted the people to not look like people anymore?!

If they added options great. If they substituted..eh.

Appears to be 100% substitution. There is only one female model for all players.

The female faces were horrid before.

While I feel the new ones are a bit generic barbie doll faces at least they are pleasing to the Eye.

Some of the older models actually looked like dudes cross dressing.

But here's the thing... neither one of those two models looks like a real person. The first one was much closer to an actual human face, in my opinion.

I don't mind them making the characters pretty (within reason). But the barbie-ism/anime-ism isn't so cool.  Whose chin (or mouth) looks like that?

just looked at the before and after pics.  The old female models in those pics are a bit...eh homely.   I can understand where you are coming from OP though.  Don't necessarilly substitue, just add to the existing options if there is a way.  I like the new models but to each his (or her) own :P

I actually know a Polish chick that looks similar to the character on the right lol.

the changes made them look "younger" rather then prettyer. What im gonna say here may look the greates bulshit u have ever read but i belive in a pos-apocaliptical world more mature women would have more chance to survive and because of the constant treat they may look more tired and "ugly" rather than look like new barbie contest young girls. my humble opinion =*

Yeah, this change generated a lot of discontent among the female players. Regardless if your character was ugly or pretty to begin with, it was /yours/. Females tend to care a bit more than males about what their character looks like, regarding the finer details, and I can understand the annoyance/anger/frustration of having that work undone because of an unasked for change.

Yeah... they both look like they got hit in the face with a shovel at some point during childhood. The "after" picture is a slight improvement... but its like putting lipstick on a pig, you know? Why even bother?

I got lucky the change was a positive, originally this toon looked like a horrendously ugly guy. Now it looks more like a weathered wastelander in her 30's, what I was aiming for.

I actually prefer the before... The after seems to me that it enlarges the eyes, elongates the nose, reduces the flare of the nostrils, narrows the mouth giving it a pouty lip appearance.... I don't like the after at all, the character now looks nothing like what the player created., which for me if a game I played did that to me itwould make me want to delete and reroll and if I couldn't get a character looking how I liked maybe, just maybe, I might end my subscription

I like the original better.  The new babydoll face lacks realistic chin structure.  She looks inbred or genetically damaged.  Of course genetic damage is a feature in this game.  We are all the product of genetic experimentation and mutation so why expect normal looking faces?  That being said, they should have added the new faces as an option at character creation.

Not really, parrot. Think about it this way.

You bought a car, had features installed that you wanted, the color you wanted, stereo, speakers, etc. You take it in for scheduled maintenance and it comes out looking far different than when you had brought it in. They switched our your stereo, changed a couple of side plates, changing the aerodynamics, changed the color, etc. all because they wanted to improve /your/ car. They did it without asking or telling you what effect it was going to have. Now the car looks completely different. Are you telling me that wouldn't piss you off? And if it doesn't, then apply the same technique to something you do care about and tell me it wouldn't have any effect on you.

It's simply a matter of some people caring about the effort of customizing their toon and then having that work undone through no part of their own.

I think game companies shoot themselves in the foot when they have ugly aesthetics.  There are some amazing computer artists out there and they can make really wonderful looking characters that are even not very system intensive.

Some people are of the camp that looks don't matter.  I think it's a package deal.

The face models and charater models have always been a problem with FE.  I looked at shots 5 months ago and said "no thanks", thankfully I downloadded the open beta one boring night and was hooked.

IMHO it has been a major lapse on Icaris's part. Motion capture is expensive I can see why a indie wouldnt have the cash for that, but a good artis that can make good faces and bodies won't break the bank.
