Every MMORPG I've played there always seems to be that one person.  They're over sensitive, need attention, start issues from nothing yet they're kept around because they usually play a needed class.  In everquest it was this female high elf cleric who would threaten to quit the game if nobody said hi when she logged on.  She constantly whined about her character and would try to flirt with people even though she looked like an orc in real life.

Every single game I've played the guilds seem to have these attention seeking whining over sensitive folks.  They're adults too, not kids as you'd think.  I met kids who were more mature.

Haha I know what you mean.  Maybe it's because they didn't get the attention they thought they needed when they were a child.  It could also be that when they joined the guild and told everyone they were a female (since most mmo players are male) all the other guild mates gave them a lot of attention and when they found out she looked like an orc IRL they stopped giving her so much and she got used to it and now demands it.  Who knows eh!

Sadly, I am that lone crazy person. I think it's just that others mask their crazy better =)

On a side note, I say Hi to everyone that logs on, it helps build a sense of community and such =P

There was a mental health campaign recently on TV and it swowed a group of mates chatting, it then came up with the stat, 1 in 3 people will at some point experience a mental health issue, while 1 in 6 will experience a long term problem, it then panned across the group of friends.

So now you have a guild/clan with lets say 60 people, quite a normal figure, now do the math, think that explains your post, that however doesnt inculde the just plain immature needy person, so like wow, its suprising that guild/clans run at all.

Currently Subbed EVE, thats it after years off MMO play I am reduced to one sub due to the massive levels of CRAP in the market.

Know what you mean...In my old game there was this guy that always unloaded his problems, his daily routine, and non-existent love life, on whoever unfortunate soul was online at 2am. Don't get me wrong...the guy was as kind as the day is long, but he was just...well...if you talked to him, he would unload on you at once. He might just be a lonely soul, but  well...you get enough after a while...and I feel bad saying that for some reason...

Waiting for a game that never comes...

Heh Im cool with people as long as you don't screw me over. Or unless they are a total jerkface and talk smack about everyone and tell you how to play the game.  But I think were all crazy in our own ways. But yeah attention seekers ehh Id just tell to shut up or quit. We can always replace you with someone that isnt always QQ... lol

Edit:  Oh about the people who tell people about their problems I don't mind that. Im a good listener and people always seem to come to me when they need to get stuff off their chest.

To add to my highly contributive post earlier:

I can't say I've shared your experience (luckily). Even more amazing is that I've spent the majority of my MMO time in WoW. Unbelievably, I've always played Alliance! But, somehow, I've ended up in great guilds. Limited drama, real life priorities over game ones (though when it comes to raid progression, they're quite serious), and no people blowing up in Vent (even after multiple wipes). Probably the closest I've ever come to having someone like you described in my guild is when I joined a leveling guild on my alt. Hooooo boy... that's where all the "kids" were. I think that was just a level of immaturity problem rather than an attention whore or someone who was just lonely, though.

In conclusion: Hahahahaha, sucks for you!

Another crazy from everquest, a bard in my guild at the time.  I grouped with him and he always seemed kind of daft.  I used to see him in odd places sometimes where you wouldn't normally find max level players.  In groups he was usually silent.  I learned why.  I was curious and while grouping send him a tell, a simple " . "  and got a reply.

Yes, he was cybering a "female" group member.  (" female"  as in character was female...)

Also while he was off in la la land like newb areas or portal spires he was...  Telling stories.  Thats right, standing there and telling his stories to any unfortunate enough to walk by.  I went once on an alt and found out he was a dreaded roleplayer and he was telling some story he had written and strangely enough it involved his guild and people he grouped with.

Suffice to say the story was absolutely horrible.  When I began to critique the story he vanished.  Day or two goes by and he doesn't show up.  I ask in guild and the target of his cybering announces that he's taking a break from the game because someone hurt his feelings really bad  lol...

If you've ever played The Witcher, you know that bards always get with the ladies. Funny story though.

Of course. Usually, as you say, looks like an orc in real life. That is why she plays a high elf. She wants to play a beautiful person in the game because she is ugly. She wants validation in the game because no one sees her sexually or personally in her real life. This is the social/sexual equivalent of the epeen measuring kid that needs the best gear/rank/title because he needs to show off how uber he is because he is pathetic in the real world.

If you are with a group that puts up with either one, get out. Now.

The guild I was in at the time tolerated the incessant whining because the individual played a cleric.  The guild was very short on clerics and always had to rely on people outside the guild which proved frustrating when the outside cleric got loot our clerics needed.  Of course it was hard to entice someone to assist your raid and tell them they couldn't get the loot... we had that issue.

We always had to step in eggshells when this person played.  The slightest misinterpretation of a statement or if you suggested how to do something and she'd log in a hissy fit and pout.  Usually she'd log onto an alt and whine to officers and other people.  This went on for too long in part because most of the leading officers were also women.  Eventually my problems were solved by leaving the guild for another.

Hell, that's most women in general (misinterpretation of statements). The neeing validation is just an ugly girl wanting to feel pretty online because she can't irl. It happens every day. I agree. Avoid the crazy bitches like the plague. There are enough you have to deal with irl.

In DAOC I met this merc who I grouped with daily.  We got along fine then one day he introduced me to his RL girlfriend who played a mage.  Right off the bat she'd aggro stuff that we hadn't pulled.  We spent more time running then killing and when told to stop thought it was funny.  She'd later join a guild I was in and spent most of the time trying to cyber me.  I figured if she's like that with me, and I didn't even know her she was probably doing it with everyone.  She'd send me pictures of herself (she was attractive) wearing a school girl uniform, tied up... wierd shit like that but I always figured it probably wasn't her.

I found out she was cybering some other dude in my guild by mistake.  I was talking to him in a group and offering my opinion to him that she was basically insane and needed attention and would probably fit right in on the Jerry Springer show.  Few hours later she logs in and sends me a tell "So I'd fit right in on the Jerry Springer show eh?|

This asswipe told her because he was obsessed and cybering her all the time.  I found out they'd meet in RL life.  The worst part the old friend merc I had ended up breaking up with her.  One day he logged in and started sending me hate tells about screwing his girlfriend (which I never did) and I explained to him it was this other dude.  He ended up getting banned for real life threats.  I learned afterwards that his life was such a shambles he ended up having to rent out the downstairs of his ex while she lived up stairs with her new boyfriend lol....

In jade dynasty there was a wierdo in guild that I always hated when we had to have him in party to add to the story he lives in the same place I live but I never told him that.

All the guild knew were I lived apart of him and when seeing him online talking alone for several time till someone replies which is something that always makes me angry about him, he thinks he's pro talks bad about the others that makes mistakes but with the numbers of mistakes he does I would seriously doubt if there is anyone worse then him.

Eventually he left the guild to go in another saying that the guild we were in was not good or something like that then finally I could talk freely in guild channel without him risking on hearing. I know talking bad on someone when he can't read is bad but enough is enough.

But the most ppl I hate in games are those that think they know everything and have to explain to everyone what to do and what they don't have to do thinking they are "gods" that's the worse in my opinion and 2nd female whinings >_>

This was hilarious until the last line. That really, really sucks.

On the funny note, there are chicks like this in every game, and usually they are really bad players, like you say. When I was playing WoW, there was this hunter that didn't understand how to use her pet so she aggroed with that all the time. She would pull, even in instances, large groups that no one else was ready for, or even mobs in the corner that we weren't going to pull anyway. She was just terrible and she got us killed all the time, and was generally more trouble than she was worth. But she was a girl, and she had a cute voice on Vent, and she was generally flirty with all the guys, so they kept her around. I guess it's true what they say about the average gamer and girls.

I've met very few non crazy females in MMORPG's.  Sometimes it seems like they're mostly sane and then I get surprised.  In WOW I could say close friends with this mage and cleric.  They were RL girlfriend & boyfriend.  I grouped with them daily.  When the mage was at work in RL the cleric was always very flirtatious, wanting RL pics and such.  Upon further discussion we found out that we lived relatively close to one another.  She would send me pictures and she wasn't an orc I'd say probably after 3-4 beers she'd look better but I wasn't hard up either.  Thats when the invites came, stuff like "so and so is at work come over now."  This happened daily, she told me that he had cheated on her and said she had one free pass to make it even.  Stuff like that.

I never took her up on the offer.  For one I wouldn't want my girlfriend to be doing that to me and I also valued the guys friendship.  I just stuck to my in game relationship and that was it.  I have no idea what happened to them in the long run.  Probably married while she's cybering and going on "trips to visit her relatives..."

Another character in WOW who became well known for his spam of /spit was a warrior friend and his cleric wife.  His wife was flirtatious immediately upon grouping.  She played an undead priest and her real life picture looked like an ogre.  It really bothered me because this guy was on leave from iraq due to injuries but had a call back date.  This wife of his was actively cheating so I told him.  At first he didn't believe me but one day logged in as her and found out rather quickly as all the cybering tells commenced.  I'm pretty sure they broke up because she would switch factions and join alliance to be with some e-boyfriend.

I've found plenty of couples like that in my time playing EQ, DAOC, SWG... up to now.
