Aion had so many people, that they decided to create a new server called Fregion. If you hate queues and all you want is server stability, jump onto this server and have sum fun!

[West]Fregion is live! [West]Fregion is the first server to be added after our very successful launch of Aion.A European server and an East Coast North American server are also on the way.

The name “Fregion” has its origin in ancient Atreian lore, taken from the one Drakan that sparked history-altering pretension in the Balaur Empire, eventually leading to The Epic Cataclysm.

[West]Fregion has been set to North American West Coast time and is only the first in a line of servers we are rolling out. Aion has enjoyed tremendous popularity during these first couple of days, and we are aware of the queues on the most populated servers. We hope that our addition of fresh servers to choose from and conquer, for new and old players alike, will help in making these queues shorter and allow even more players to enjoy the game.

We will continue to monitor the situation and maintain the delicate balance between managing busy servers versus overcompensating by adding new servers that may become underpopulated.

So far NCsoft got it about right, far better to have some que than empty servers.

It remains to be seen if there will be some population fallout after the honeymoon period so it is better to have too few than too many at this stage.

I am very interested as well to see where the game is after the first month.  My guess is it will be doing just as well if not better due to the fact that every day I have played (since 9/22) the game is constantly buzzing with players.  Usually people get hooked pretty fast with MMOs and will already start to pull back (or head back to their last game) on their playtime if the game isnt striking a chord early.  Definitely am not seeing that happen with AION.  People are packing the servers.  This is just IMO, dont take it as scientific fact or as if I truly know what I am talking about.  Regardless, time will prove me right or wrong.

Honestly, the only people that are complaining about queues are the ones that are too hellbent over staying on their current server to move to a lower population one.

NCsoft is afraid that once they add the new server the pvp portion of the game will be unbalanced but what can you do ? They had people who paid for the game that wanted to play so NCsoft was stuck in a no win situation. Atleast they did the right thing and added a new server.

I understand the frustration of a que.  But I also understand the reasons for it.  I am willing for the first week to have to sit through a que so I have a healthy, well populated, well balanced server to play on.  The worst cue was 9/22 -- since then I have only had a few ques and they have been nowhere that bad.  Also, when I was in cue, I found productive things to do with my time and was in the game in no time it seemed.

Ask Mythic about adding servers recklessley in the first weeks -- they went from 60 down to now 6 ?  NCsoft is doing this the right way IMO.  Regardless in a few weeks this wont even be an issue as they will add more servers or the pop will stabilize.

 FYI every ENG EU server is overpopulated.

Yeah because not as if some people took time off work are already 30+ top and bottom of it when you have ques on servers during headstart on the second day of it those new servers should have been up by time of retail release even just 1 server reduces those ques massivley.

Piss poor management on NCSoft's behalf and even worse communication and hiding of problems on there forum's.

i still love Aion but its bloody annoying :)

The problem with moving to a new server when your server starts to be overfull is then what do you do when that new server fills up?  Just keep rerolling on new servers?

I can't believe Aion had THAT many people. I played in the open beta, and it was a decent game, but i can't believe it was THAT popular. The only thing special about it was flying, but that will get boring and repetitive after awhile.

But the point is: the NA servers still have low pop ones that have yet to be filled up, but everyone insists on bitching until they create a new server that's going to be even lower pop than the other 3. >.> The people that are complaining aren't going to move servers. They're just going to keep bitching until everybody else but them moves.
