I was just reading in another thread where a long-time player (even after the NGE) was upset because SOE wiped out the GCW ranks of everyone in his guild when they introduced their new system.  I know a lot of people were also upset when SOE wiped out their jedi skill trees that they had worked so hard over a long period of time to unlock and build up.  People were also ticked when SOE simply deleted their entire professions overnight.  Then there were the crafters who were driven out of business by all of the new loot drops that offered superior weapons and armour etc.  Now crafters seem to find it hard to compete with the new loot available by random chance via the Sony online store.

Over the course of this game, I think there has been a pattern of wiping out things that people worked hard for and enjoyed.  If you played the game, what was your experiece.  What, if anything, did they wipe out that you were working on or having fun with?

Are you seriously asking this question?    The NGE wiped out the game we use to play.   It destroyed all we loved.    Our characters, our cities, everything.   I mean they gave us a choice - either play their iconic generic game where my character had to be X or don't play.    I chose not to play.   So in a sense I lost everything.    Think about what my character could do before the NGE.   She was a master dancer/master artisan/with a smattering of some combat skills.    This allowed her to own a business - two in fact.    A cantina and her shops for selling vehicles.    Then there was the fact that beacuse she was an artisan she could survey and also gather resources.     All that was wiped out with the NGE.

SOE can keep their game now.    It went from a good game to a POSG over night.

SWG was never a good game, all it had was a decent class system.

Apparently stating the truth in my sig is "trolling"

Says you.   I say Aion is a crappy game.   Someone else thinks it is the cats meow.   Let them think that.  I don't care.   I still think it will end up on the heap of POSG's along with so many others.    Back in the day SWG was a good game before SOE totally screwed it up!  My opinion.

The CU wiped out half my guild. Destroyed my doctor practice(And the business of the guy making the buff packs, the guys who supplied the guy who made the buff packs with resources)

The NGE wiped out the rest of my guild and 90% of the people on my friendlist. Wiped my jedi, wiped out the business of my three crafters, WS, chef and tailor. wiped out our city, and most effectivly wiped out all the fun of the game...

Prolly a lot more. Been playing LOTRO for two years now. Turbine hasnt taken away anything yet from my chars or gameplay. Actually they just keep adding shit. No wonder im still playing it....

Hmm, so the game that hasn't taken anything away, and keeps adding entertainment for your subscription dollars is one you continue playing.  You know, I think there's a lesson here.

Also, yeah, I remember how the CU "magic" heals made the game around medical supplies all worthless.  It used to be like science-based medicine, much more immersive.  Also, people were involved in finding resources and crafting things for docs.  All that went down the crapper thanks to SOE revamps.  Good point.

Something else they wiped out in one night, along with everyone's professions, and the ability to mix and match them.

SWG was a game all about it's potential and they chucked that away with the CU and NGE.

Personally I've taken all the punches like a man and not crying like a wuss, even years after. Adapt I say!

Ugh don't kill me, it was a joke! :D To be honest, luckily I have managed to avoid the whole game and obviously it have saved me from a lot of headache. Right now I'm juggling with Champions Online and the game keeps changing everyday so much, that you have a hard time keeping track what's what. I feel you SWG Vets! Hope the new Star Wars mmorpg will be something you guys can enjoy again!

I lost more than 70 full suits of armor and a few hundred cases of components when the CU hit, after Devs promised that all weapons and armor would convert well, I believe the quote was "An elite item before the patch will be converted to an elite item after the patch." Or words to that effect. Too bad all that armor and the effort and expense that went into it was instantly turned into crap, along with every other elite weapon and piece of armor in the game.

I canceled my AS toon that week, along with 90% of the other armorsmiths that were playing up to that time. Blixtev can still eat the corn out of my S*** over that one. Arrogant lying bastard that "Toliet boy" is/was, personally taking credit for the armor system revamp.

I am firmly in the "No Bread for Smed" camp now, and permanently.

that's all $OE does

they lie to players and destoy everything you and i worked for my friends and the drones that are still playing now will get upset and hurt soon once $OE kills everything they worked hard for.

you want to hear what i lost? i was a pre-patch jedi and $OE took the once great and rare jedi class and turned it into a starting class due to the whiners who couldn't hang in pvp with those of us who put time and love into the game. they took our once great pvp system and made it suck the big one. they took the greatest story ever told yours and mine and turned it into the nge.

$OE and everyone that had anything to do with the nge need to say sorry for all the pain and give us back our game

I had a weaponsmith and had been gathering resourses for 2 years. THen the CU hit. All my high end stuff was garbage now. THen on the old forums all the smiths went on a rampage. Appearently, SOE in their wisdom thought it was a good idea to make all weapons do the same amount of damage over a specific amount of time. 1.5 speed stun stick dealt as much damage as a BH's launcher, in lets say in a minute they both would do equal damage. With no point to craft anymore, majority just quit like me.

lets see.........  Ok, I'll hit NGE on.

1.  GCW update.  Took away all rank giving players a chip for 1 rank back.

2.  Commando NERF.  Take the DoT Damage away

3.  C5  introduced 35s taking away all the ground clothes drops pretty much in 1 felt swoop.  Before, the more you had ground 4 stat items, the better you were at PVP/PVE.

4.  C6 took away all the stats you came to know and what they did.  They added several WoWified stats, parry, parry, block, block, miss, miss, etc.

5.  C6 took away all the ability to run the game that players had for at least a year.  Things you took out easily yesterday, 1-4 hit took you down today

6.  Glanceing blow NERF.  Took away a jedi's ability to PVP sucessfully until we figured out that block was of good usage too.  But, that made our suits of 35s not much good anymore.

7.  Block NERF (in fact all defensive stat NERF with Diminishing Returns on stacking).  Took away some of jedi's tanking ability, and other professions also that stacked block.  This CHANGED how you looked at stats as stat stacking defence was no where as good as stacking offence.  Your suit of 35s needed to be CHANGED yet again

8.  GU-Whatever.  Took away PVP from LS jedi.  "LS = pve (tank)" quoted from Blixtev.  Took away 1/2 the end game content from a single profession.

9.  GU-Whatever.  Just about anyones ability to PVP when they give Commando back their DoT Damage again and in the process CHANGED the jedi clear DoTs to only clear 1/2 the DoTs and move the cooldown from 25 secs to 60 sec for the 1/2 stack.

10.  GU-Whatever.  Took away long PVP battles by adding in spike damage letting some professions have 1 hit kills such as smugglers 32,000 single damage hit thereby increasing the l33t speaking kiddies greatest dreams.

Ok, instead of em all, I just did the top 10.  What I miss?

It feels as if SOE knew what they were doing the entire time and just tested the game to see what they could do to people and see the reactions.

Even after they fucked up so much they continued to fuck up even more. How could you just continue on...

Human evolution and advancement has never been measured in terms of our ability to grapple one-on-one with bears.

I'm sorry, but in my OPINION, the armor change made during the CU was one of, if not the only one, of the changes I think was good.  Prior to the CU everyone and I mean EVERYONE was running around in Composite Armor.  I really like the turn they took making specific skill trees get access to different armor types.  Now of course you should have gotten some sort of recoup for your losses, no doubt about that.  However, as I said, I think it was a good change, probably the only good one.

The doctor's buff change during the CU I didn't necessarily have a problem with either.  My wife's toon was a Master Doctor and I was her resource gather, so yeah, it killed a LARGE portion of our income.  But prior to that change, it was either you had doc buffs or you were dead.  There was no middle ground.  So yeah, that is another one of the few changes I liked/didn't mind.

I  did a free trial not so long ago and recently subscribed. (it's not the first time I played the game, it's just the first time in a long time so I tested to see if it was worth playing).

After all my hard work (i.e. boring legacy quest) to level my character up, they decided to recently announce, hey guess what... everyone gets a free pass for level 50 between now and October such and such.  That's kind of not fair don't you think?  At the same time I collected a lot of loot and made a lot of money new players won't have, but still.

Not a huge deal, but it kind of ticked me off juuust a little bit.

Yeah dude, that's like going out and buying a new car at full price, just to have the manufacturer/dealer turn around and give a $5,000 rebate on the car you just bought to new customers.  What a friggin kick in the nuts that is.

You're saying the assault/battle/recon restrictions was one of the good things in the CU?
