To me comedy would be the best way to go. Trying to be serious as an adventure story would be too much of a self-parody no matter how well it was produced. WOW: THE SAGA OF KARAZHAN Episode 1 (of 3). The first 3 hours of a three film, 9 hour, live-action version of a full kara raid with mediocre players - wipes included. Would (could, I am not counting on it) only be tolerable at all as a b grade comedy. Trying to take any action in the WoW universe serious on that scale is just too much. Books, fine for lore. Major motion picture, no. How dare you present him with logic! Don't you understand? He fights epic fights, in epic games, with epic toons....eats epic food and takes epic dumps! He has more e..pic..icity...ness in his little finger than you have in your whole unepic body! - ChicagoCub

Streamline it, make it "more fun and less complicated" and halfway through the movie, totally change the script/lore and then turn it into a werewolf movie.
