In my opinion the creativity and innovation came from instancing, casual game play, in depth storyline, graphics, and actually listening to its player base. Before WoW came out there wasn't anything, or at least not many, similar to it. Now there are so many games similar to it that it does seem unoriginal. Their expansions are just a continuation on what made them famous in the first place and I don't think any MMO has ever come out with new content/game play that is vastly different from what they originally had. If you want different game play there are different games for that. I doubt not having a new class for Cataclysm will hurt them that much as there will be new areas, story lines, races, professions, and what not to explore. So while I have quit the game quite recently I do plan to resubscribe, as I am sure many others will also, when the expansion comes out because there will be a lot of new stuff to experience. ------ |

ROFL. I cannot believe it was so many posts about typing errors. Its a shame people expect perfection from the wrong things. Too bad u dont waste all that energy on your correcting your imperfect tax system or getting rid of corrupt politicians who affect your life directly! lol Anyway i dont mind using patience and slowing down to read something. I think that Blizzard is going to introduce aspects of W.O.W that has been asked for by players over the years. A new world would be nice with new areas, npc's, player affected areas and quests. It dosent take alot too please an avid fan. I am through playing W.O.W but i hope it works and congratulations on a dynasty. (mmorpg speaking of course) |

...What does this have to do with anything? Are you seriously comparing pointing out spelling errors with political activism? |

If you have a drummer who plays off time and off beat the entirity of a song, you tell him to pick it up. You dont laugh it off and go "O well no ones perfect, lets just play off time for a few more bars?!". I dont know what you look like, but i can imagine your face with this chuckled look on it going "Dont worry guys, it will be ok!"
And as for "Getting rid of corrupt politicians", what are you some closet theorist who thinks it takes a mere phone call to change political standards? I believe it was Burke who said Revolution is a fallacy, and that men who wish to change their government must do it over time, slowly. Forgive the people on this forum for not getting up right now and planning the changes that will occur forty years from now for their government.

Eric, please go take a course on writing. Paragraphs are your friends! That article has one of the worst readability indexes I have seen here. Personally I stopped about half way down, if you are going to write like that, please don't bother to post them. We don't need the agony of trying to read it. |

I'm sorry to say that I'm not sure if Cataclysm is going to bring my 'lust' for WoW back...after doing everything there was to be done, I only grinded mats, gold and dailies...and those blasted raids that gets old sooo freaking fast. I actually wish it had something for me in it. I miss the guys I played with...and I...well...I can only hope there's going to be some challenge in the new expansion...but with the road Blizz are going down now, I don't think it's likely... I have no doubts that many will like this expansion, and that most players will enjoy WoW for years to come...but I don't think it's for me anymore. Sorry for the sad post, but that is what I am...I used to like this game very much... |

This seems to be a common complaint in forums right now. People complaining about blizzard not doing anything creative or innovative and then followed up by a list of common expansion features that are not going to be in Cataclysm.
If you really look at what this expansion is trying to accomplish it is rather creative and innovative. I can't think of any game out right now that has done this. If it goes over well I bet you see it start to happen in other games.

However I don't think that will eliminate "end game" content from games. It is a step in the right direction. Achieve and repeat is the basic formula of current mmos. That needs to be expanded on, otherwise a level less system doesn't really change much except removing levels as an achievement. |

A skill based system won't be any better than a level based system. The reason is that content it finite. Once you've explored every area and done all of the quests that interest you, you are left with nothing but grinding and repetitive content. Daily quests and honor/arena grinds are not a solution. The only real solution I can see would be to figure out a way to allow player generated content or computer generated content that fits the design parameters of the original universe and increasing level caps exponentially. |

Can't say I'm all that excited. They have gave the raiders enough. Like to see more content for people who enjoy doing stuff in duos or 5mans. Quit feeding the raiders. |

What made WoW so enjoyable for me was how solo friendly it is, for the most part, for the leveling up part of the game. I could group when I felt like it, but I never *had* to group. Why is it that "endgame content", then, must always be group-oriented? Blizzard and other MMOs need to offer alternatives to the standard raid-style endgame content. If I'm going to grind a dungeon or instance, then let at least a few of them be scaled for single, level 80 players or allow the use of pet NPCs (as is done in Guild Wars). Grinding an endgame dungeon is not ideal, but trying to find a group AND THEN grinding a dungeon on top of that is just ... insufferable. Smart MMOs of the future are going to start offering a wider variety of types of worthwhile endgame content: solo, small group (2 to 3 players), and raid. Blizzard, as far as I can tell from Cataclysm, just hasn't figured this out yet. As such, I strongly suspect WoW: Cataclysm will be eclipsed, at least for me, by a number of other MMOs now in the pipeline. |

The reason there is no new class is because Blizz has a formula. 2 new races(TBC) 1 new class(Wrath) 2 new races(Cataclysm) They don't want a new class every expansion because new classes are often just Flavour of the Month at first. |

I am very much looking forward to the revamped Azeroth. I belong to a very small minority who enjoy questing and socializing in this large beautiful world of Azeroth. I don't concern myself at all with spending my nights tearing through the same dungeons over and over again trying to get a single piece of equipment to drop. I love the incredible stories that Blizzard has created in this game. I actually read the quests I am given instead of just tearing through them at break neck spead so I can get to lvl 80 and collect gear. I can't wait for the Cataclysm. |

Agree with this and mainly also with the rest. But I'm wondering how they plan to organise this change for current players. I.e. somebody have now installed only regular Wow on his computer ... he/she is in i.e. Barens at lv. 11 .... what will happen when Cataclysm arrives? Will change also his environment? What will happen with current quests ... as quest givers may not exsist anymore.... etc etc. Or will this change happen only after some level ... but I guess not as they speak about leveling from scratch in new old world. Or will players with no Cataclysm installed stil live in old world and only one with Cataclysm installed will not see anymore old world but only new one and will be able to level from 1? Pretty confusing. Any idea regarding this? |

I enjoy level based RPGs online and single player so I disagree with the people who are saying get rid of them...if you don't like a level based game, simply do not play one. Looking forward to this new expansion, it sounds like the changes will be cool. I

The changes they are making to hunters and to a lesser extent warlocks, added to the fundamental overhaul of the entire games stat system, pretty much makes up for no new class being introduced! My only concern with cataclysm is it could be an anticlimax after we have all finished Icecrown and seen off the lich king. Not even remotely exited this time tbh. |
