Originally posted by grandpagamer Bah, I edited out that last sentence to avoid this conversation again. If you own a console, you probably own a PC as well. As time goes on, more and more people are computer literate. My 11 year old sister plays online as much as I do. So the trivial task of keeping track of system requirements (and it is trivial btw, shame on you for using that as an excuse) will be gone as people will just know more about computers. Also, consoles cycle out about 5 years. If you're willing to let your performance slide for a while, you can make a gaming PC last about that long.
Right now you can own both a 360 and PS3 for $550. For me I looked around at graphics cards and processors to upgrade my PC, I went with the PS3 for $300. Less than the price of a good graphics card alone. If you want the very latest card then sure, that's expensive. Go back just one generation and you can still play current games on max settings for much less. For instance, my current computer uses an nvidia 8800, which goes for about 100 bucks now. And 9800's aren't much more. And my 8800 can play most games with only a few minor graphical features turned down. So again, I agree that PC gaming needs to be cheaper, but it is definitely getting there. Once the price ranges merge, the only advantage consoles will have is standard hardware. And as more people become computer literate, that won't be as big an issue as it is today. |

I don't know about console games releasing with less bugs than PC games, but I'd be willing to bet that console games would release faster than PC ones. I just can't imagine a downside to having a standardized platform. It must be so much easier for a developer not to have to worry about differences in hardware, software, drivers and such. Likewise, it must save them so much time not having to troubleshoot every little problem across multiple configurations. Give console MMOs, I say. But still need my keyboard and mouse. |

However it wont be long until single player games demand more while MMO's are not as demanding. My thought in getting the PS3 was to use it for single player games and I will still have my PC for MMO's. Having said that i do want to see what an MMO is like on console. |

so how many good console only mmorpg are there? I just don't see console mmorpg succeed. Most people already have a PC, not everyone have a console. |

I'll agree that consoles are basically mini computers now. I think the issue really is the user interface and the servers. I.E.: will Microsoft host any mmo for the xbox that isn't a Microsoft game?
