I loved the tutorial but when I came out into main area is seemed so congested and bland? its like they put all their effort into tutorial and forgot the main part of game, guns are bad , it has a very loose feel vs tutorial which was tight , what gives |

It's a good thing you think the tutorial is polished =) They finally fixed the bugs in it, it seems.
The tutorial is guided, the main game is more loosely structured. Does sort of suck that they go, hey this is what you can get, not for a month or so, but hey, it's there! |

It's a learning curve in the beginning, that's for sure. But, you'll get there.
I think it's a good thing how they did the tutorial, but they do need to explain to you that you're 38 levels over what you start the game as. |

This is because the tutorial held your hand and touched you in all the right places to make you feel comfortable, so in the real world of the game you are weened and no longer have this hand to hold and thus feel lonely and insecure. |

I love the fact that there is a nwe kind of sandbox game out there. Sure it is hard in the beginning, but I'm a guy who loves figuring things out, and having tons of options to do so. |

Originally posted by plaguess I remember my first few weeks in SWG, I had no clue what I was doing and just killed things... 5 years on should make it easieer as I actually understand MMOs and although I know there's lots of things I don't know, I now have a better idea of what I should be doing.... |

Look the fact is that FE is deceptive , they make you think you are going into this amazing beautifull world with guns blazing and you come out into this brown mess. there is no tutorial of crafting and just a bit in the main tutorial on combat, is there a manual for this game? |

I have issues with sandbox games that develop beginner tutorials that play more like themeparks. Ryzom does this also. It misleads a new player into thinking the game will offer a handholding experience throughout. As an example in Ryzom you have like 50 missions you run, the island that you run the tutorial on has no challenging mobs and doesn't really require a team effort to complete. Then you get tossed on the Mainland and mobs kick your ass, missions don't help you skill up and you have no idea what to do. It's similar in FE. I wish these games would try to give people a sandbox experience at the start, let them walk around and as they pass over a section in the game a little 3-4 step tutorial pops up, as you click icons on the UI messages pop up explaining what they do. Make people learn through exploration not by being lead around a section of the game that wrongfully misleads the player.
Don't get me wrong I love both Ryzom and FE but the completely wrong direction the tutorials take the player was a bad move and it will make a few new players frustrated to the point of leaving.

That "brown mess" is called a desert. A desolated one as well. As for manual it is possible to read the tips during the tutorial. |

Lol. Unless your a crafting nut, skip this game. Oh and to build a car should take you through casual playing about 2-3 months real time. Hardcore could prolly do it in a few weeks. The tutorial is very cool and shows a lot of promise as to what to expect, unfortunately the actual gameplay is so far from that, as it will take a long time to actually get to those stat and equipment choices in the real game. Based on all that, and the fact that I tested the game, I wouldn't waste my money here, its nothing special. |

it's only been that for ryzom since the new player island was redone, the way it was before was a pain in the butt, get killed left and right but considering there wasn't many new players anymore to form a group to finish it they had to redo it to the way it is now. |

name one MMO online game that has an up to date manual? you never will, in mmos features come and go so drastically there is no point in writing a manual as it will be obselete by release. |
