Game has only been live for 30 hours and Eurogamer has decided to put up a review already, this site is extremely unprofessional, that is not enough for any game

That guy clearly has issues with Korean MMOs.. lol

It does not take a long time to say a game is good or bad. I quit Vanguard in less than an hour and it is pretty well known that the game sucks.

You either going to really like it or hate it...period. Aion is a huge success in Asia.

Yes but that’s not a point, a review can’t be rushed...especially for any mmorpg

Well, in his defence, the game didn't change that much from OB to release. At least, not in the area he seems to have the most gripes with. On the other hand, his issues with the combat are hilarious.

In the PvE game everybody is looking for the optimal setup of keystrokes that will leave little gap between abilities. I don't recall any other game that works any differently in solo PvE. Perhaps he was expecting an innovation there? Who knows. Thing is, all MMOs work exactly like this.

Why? It is a fair review and completely honest. And a score of 7/10 seems about right. I think it is a strong point of Eurogamer that it continues to demystify the hype around games in general and mmo's in particular. Apart from being informative it was fun to read.

Well it is his opinion. It's not quie fair to review a game that noone has even reached the level cap of fully explored the Abyss. In all seriousness....Aion had little to no hype on the hypo meter.

"Beta" isn't really the right word here, the game have been out for over a year, the only big difference here is translation.

Besides he could actually be speaking Korean instead and played the game for a long time.

Eurogamer is far from the best site for reviews, but it isn't the worst either (I give them 3/5 myself ;).

But you guys are assuming one thing or another when they as well could have a guy who played the game for a year, we don't know that. I wouldn't buy a game only based on a EUgamer review of course but there are many other sites with worse reviews around.

And 7/10 seems ok, 9 should be exceptional and 10 almost impossible to get. Most sites are way to generous (including this site). 5-6 should mean average, not bad. Of course are some other of EUgames review scores a bit high hten but still. But there are some sites out there that just give away 10s to loads of games while 1-6 all mean pathetic and 7-9 means ok. It kinda makes the scale rather useless.

Yes 7/10 is not a bad score, but imo it is not fair at all, I know people can tell if they like a game or not from a few hours but it is not enough for a review ( a review is supposed to fair and unbiased), he has not seen anything past level 30, most sites give a mmo at least 100 hours before giving a fair review

I think he was referring to the hype generated by the company, as opposed to the hype generated by the fans.

Darkfall creates something completely new and innovative... then get a 2 then a 4. Aion puts a L2 skin on WoW and gets 7.

The fact that creativity scores no points is proof enough that Eurogamer is a shitty review site. Plus rushing an MMO review like they do is retarded. They have no credibility left.

i agree with this score. no way can get any higher in current state. but still decent

What exactly was new and innovative about Darkfall? Never mind, don't answer that. It will derail the discussion. 

The thing is that polish and all the features promised by the developers presented in the game score better than empty promises and unfulfilled potential.

I agree with the OP.

Eurogamer gives very shallow reviews.  In fact, I think they make it a point to be one of the first review sources to rate a game, therefore putting their name out their to the public when a game is first released and many avid fans and players flock to the review sites to see how good a game is right after launch.  What do these eager fans and players find?  Only one review, and thats from eurogamer... thus raising eurogamer's popularity and hits even if their reviews are inaccurate. 

Im not saying eurogamer is the only review source to use this tactic, but I would say they are the most widely known.
