Other then very vague one lines on Twitter, NCSoft is dead silent about todays disaster. So, here is what they should have said: To our fans. We were fully aware of the amount of pre-orders we had. We even went so far as to announce that we have broken all records for MMO pre sales. We also knew our server capacity based on our open and closed betas. We are now aware that our ques are as high as 8.5 hours. No game has ever had ques even 1/4 of this, which we are also aware. So, why did we allow this to happen? Its simple. We fked up. We launched the biggest MMO disaster in history. In wisdom that is beyond understanding, we only expected about 1/5 of our fans to actually try to play the game on its launch and we adjusted accordingly. We feel this was in our best interest and we hope our true fans will understand and not cancel their orders. As a special thank you to our loyal fans, those of you with the patience to wait the entire 8 hours, we will boot you from the server during your last half hour. No need to thank us, just our ways of saying thank you. |

So, aside from the fact I've been able to login to the game instantly like 5 times since launch, perhaps you shouldn't expect NCSoft to say anything since theres nothing wrong with the servers or login. Than again, I'm speaking about the North American servers, however, you didn't specify. |

So your gripe is that there's wait times during launch/headstart? By that logic, cities should build 30 lane highways to accommodate the ~1h traffic rush they get 5 times per week. Nobody is going to go out and buy servers to accommodate launch-day numbers. |

OP needs to experience a REAL gamelaunch disaster. Aion's headstart event today was far from a disaster. "The WoW forums are and have always been, the true heartbeat of the game. Having said that... RIP wow. You had a good run." - MAnalog 10/13/10 So WoW is dead? |

And if they can't handle "launch day" (it isn't launch day, its a head start), then they should have offered fewer pre-orders or not done it at all. Or at the very least put a disclaimer up saying that queues might be an issue. |

Cancelled preorder I was encountered today with the worst community ever seen. Everytime trying to farm a flower or something 2-3 others stay in line to get it once my character goes up. Mobs forget it they pop very quick but still the 10 channels dont help at all. Its the games problem cause it has 1 starting zone and also with a community like that I don't see future cause it's worst then wow community. |

Your results may vary. I finally got the queue to come up late in the day (wouldn't even offer it to me earlier) and it said I was 2548 in line and it would take 3hrs 19 min. Two hours later, I still had 1 hr 30 mins to go so I gave up and shut it down. (was down to like number 1100?)

I remember queueing to play Darkfall fondly. When the queue was ready it would play a little jingle that would wake me from my nap near the computer (it's warm after all)

I remember beta testing WoW, quitting. Playing at launch, quitting. Playing 5 months later, and STILL they had queue times into 60 minutes plus. Or server lag so bad that playing was impossible. It wasn't until almost a year after launch that servers improved. While it sucks that companies don't anticipate the player's eagerness to log in and get to playing, it happens to the "best" of them. You just have to judge whether playing is worth it to you. A lot of people could've and probably SHOULD have quit WoW because of Blizzard's inability to produce servers capable of supporting their player base. But they didn't. And it's still going strong, being the game all other's are compared to (unfortunately). So yah... worst MMO disaster ever? Not even close.

Five days ago, before the Preselection, tons of people on these very same forums declared publically that they were willing to put up with waiting in queues so they could play on a high population server. Now, they are getting what they wanted and they are all pissed off. What do you want, a high pop server, or no queues? I made my choice, no queue, and I played from minute one with no wait. And to the OP, judging from all your previous posts on these forums, more of the same man. Just wondering who the next person/company is that OWES YOU an answer.

Yeah, even in WoW it still has queue times occasionally. Queue times are almost always server/faction dependant. I've been trying to find out if thats the case here too. Most of the East Coast servers were Asmodian lockout during preselection, well after the first 3 hours all of them were actually for quite a while. My guess is the people with these queues are Asmodian East Coast server. Still trying to get info on the East Coast Elyos and West Coast Asmo/Elyos data. mmm hmm and when I was 2500/2500 2 hours later.. I was 24xx of 3000
So yes obviously the times aren't right and the only way they could be is if they were DC'ing people on a set schedule. If everyone stays logged on playing or sets up a store you aren't going anywhere.
I was able to log onto Zikel when it came up and no one has instantly logged on since.
There are servers however, that you can still log onto right now instantly for sure.
Which does a lot of good for people trying to join their guild... (I'm not even trying to play today but its not that hard to see the issues with some of the logic here).
Just like the guys saying that as more people try to come into the game as the week goes on.. that magicly concurrent numbers will drop and its all "fine". |
