Shocked how much this game looks like Team Fortress 2 with Robotic armor. I think the gameplay lends it self more to the online FPS crowd then the MMO crowd. I am not as excited. The medic healing ray, recon with sniper scope & rife, and the nade throw is so very TF2. I think their are a lot of TF2 fans out there but I am thinking Hi- Rez needs to market this game accordingly. |

TF2 has a good combat system, better than the recycled turn based crap we keep seeing over and over, whats the problem?

The problem I think is that the TF2 crowd is not going to be aware of GA because Hi- Rez continues to market the game to the MMO crowd. Good combat system is a very subjective phrase. I think FPS and online gamers do in fact like the TF2 combat system but it is another story with MMO fans in general. I think MMO fans are less likelty to embrace this type of game. That is why I made my point above. I think Hi- Rez did and continues to make the mistake of using the MMO payment model and marketing to the MMO crowd. How many articles can MMORPG.com put out and still get such little forum activity. This is the most written on game with such little forum involvement. On personal note I don't like TF2 combat style but thats just my taste. |

I fall into the same kind of opinion. Still I think we are a minority. |

I don't have any facts other then my reaction to the video footage. Never played the beta. I think I made it quite clear that iI was going only on the video footage and the fact a writer from MMORPG.com commentated that a friend played it and said it was like TF2. |

Yeah it appears to be like TF2 with a metagame attached. But, but, but...you can fly... --- Maps are designed for 8-12 players per side. You can coordinate between maps to achieve objectives. That sounds cool. --- I think I'll wait for APB, at least it has 100 people in a map. |

It doesn't play like TF2 much at all. The most simlar elements are game modes such as capture the point and the push maps. Even those are more interesting and it takes more effort to capture than in TF2. |

I just wanted to add the Assualt with the chain gun as looked like the heavy with the minigun from TF2. |

I heard it's going to have an item mall instead of monthly sub.
Honestly I have not read much about the game at all. From what I gather it's going to be GTA online. While fun, I don't imagine much player retention. |

Yeah, it is going to have a cash shop, that has been officially announced by its developers. If that isn't reason enough to stay the hell away from it then I can't imagine what would be. You might just as well play Gaia and tell everyone that you are a gangster, the end result would be the same. Each man must for himself alone decide what is right and what is wrong, which course is patriotic and which isn't. You cannot shirk this and be a man. To decide against your conviction is to be an unqualified and inexcusable traitor, both to yourself and to your country, let men label you as they may. ~Mark Twain |

Well Item mall may not be a big deal it all depends on how good the items are. If they are just for looks and stuff then it would really not be a big deal. As far as the game not retaining players depends on how it is done. Can't say until I have tried it. |

What keeps it interested in GA for me are the objective maps and knowing there will be the giant metagame later on. |

I played a lot at PAX and the PvP was definitely more FPS than MMORPG. It basically played like any FPS out there, small instanced 12 v 12 type duels. That's what they are going for though, a FPS with progression and the outcomes of each 12 v 12 (or 60 v60) match will have an effect on the game world.
It'll be interesting to see what kind of following it gets. It may not be FPSy enough for FPSers because there aren't head shots (to my knowledge) and FPSers don't usually ahve to pay monthly fees to play their games. COD also has elemetns of progression now. I'm still interested, but one FPS game rarely keeps my interest for that long. |

yea, that's a big concern to me about this game that it's going against the grain of what most FPS player are used to in terms of payment. |

Are you guys forgetting the 60vs60 Alliance vs Alliance matches? I mean to me this game is built around that. and 120 people in a match on a Hex Map waiting to be dropped from the drop ship sounds AMAZING to me.
BTW I'm a beta tester for the game and I can say it's a great game. Playing: |

Back when Planetside launched and the population was huge, the game was absolutly spectacular. They're kind of restricting the "large" battles, but it should give it more longevity. TF2 with persistance and more customisability, is definatly not a bad place to start. Lets hope it launches on Steam ;) |

no doubt it's a great game to some (I haven't played it, but waiting in eager anticipation! =) but the 60vs60 is not as you make it seem, yes all 120 player effect what's going on in the match, but it's a series of SIX concurrent 10vs10 matches that have a bearing on one another. To me that is still more of a MO type game. BTW i'm only just arguing for the sake of classification, not whether GA is a good or bad game since I think it'll be really fun for a lot of people and I'm really looking forward to it. |
