I smell a troll. Aion is a solid game. Some think it's great while for others it's not their cup of tea. But I think everyone agrees (bar some haters) that it is a very solid game. |

Prejudice is and always will be a problem in any sort of organization that attempts to group different races together. The US being recently headstrong on the Koreans due to recent activities in the news has caused some tension. That and the Korean war which is over, except by those traditionalists who want to be cautionary. Some people take gaming to the extreme and use it to fore-go some personnel grudge that came from (God) knows where. The players in WOW, most of them American, are the rudest people I have ever played with in my life. Language, name calling, and plain old selfish ignorance and lack of intelligence never makes for a good play OR a good team. Though the task at hand may end up done it leaves a bad feeling for those involved and leans towards a certain way of insanity on the part of all the players. What we have here in the world of gaming is those societies that were dreamt about long ago. Different races uniting together for one cause, sort of like the Olympics. (Notice the tension there both politically and concerning religion). These games are built the way they are for a reason. And one of the most important buttons is 'ignore'. In school I never really got along with Koreans too well. I felt as if I was in competition with them at most times usually over math. I never had any problems with the Japanese or Chinese. But one thing I have to say concerning Asian games and playing. Look at the amount of games the Asian populations have put out over the years, a good majority of them not available in the US. They have much experience in this market. And the Asian world is so foreign to the U.S. in thoughts, beliefs, and speaking it is no wonder that some of the best foreign sc-fi and fantasy worlds will be enveloped by the U.S. Not just because of being different but because it is beautiful. Years ago I was taught that there as some things that you do not bring up in a conversation if involved in a social event or dinner party. You do not mention politics and you do not mention religion. You avoid these issues and all will be well. Both in the real world and the world of Aion. Aion is going to be a hit. And those who enjoy PVP, good PVP and not "I am the chosen to kill all!" will enjoy this. And it is just a matter of time before people start shouting "World Of Warcraft" rip-off. Alot of what you think Aion is is a matter of taste. I have mentioned this a few times in the forums. If you do not like Asian artwork this game is not for you. If you enjoyed Guild Wars you may want to take a look at Aion, but it is an MMO and be assured there is grinding. The thing that I personally hope will not happen to this game are ignorant selfish children whose parents didn't teach them any manners and just to get out in the world to kill. There is teaching a child to be headstrong and their is creating monsters. The latter I see alot in the world of gaming. May your God be with you.
You are right in that the mmo world is riddled with folks who enjoy nothing more than to try and ruin other peoples games. It is really noticable if you go play games from overseas. I rarely ever saw much trash talking in general chat. As a matter of fact, I rarely saw much talking at all in general chat. You come to the west and play mmo's here and its nothing but chuck norris this and your mamma that. It really does take a way from the overall experience of playing an mmo. The sad part is that if you do turn off general chat, then you also miss out on event notices and other happenings that could actually enhance your playing experience. Overall there is just way to much bad chatter that goes on in general or region chat or whatever the big chat channels are and the rudeness of people has done nothing but gotten worse over the years. This isnt to say there aren't some nice people out there, there really are. They are just shadowed by all the jerks of the world trying to make an E-name for themselves. The sad part about this, is a very good portion of these folks are not kids but adults. Adults who feel that everything they were brought up to believe and follow can be completely forgotten behind the anonymity of the internet. I can still remember when I was running a BBS, I had one kid (and this one turned out to be a kid) that felt my rules did not apply to him and that he would simply ignore them and be as rude as he possibly could (coming into MY house (bbs) ) and cussing me out because I wouldn't allow him to skip by the rules that everyone had to follow. Needless to say, after a nice talk with his parents, and an exchange of info with other BBS SysOps, the kid learned the hard way that rules are there for a reason and if you choose not to follow them, well, its nobodies fault but your own and you get to suffer the consequences. Its a shame that MMO's can't be run more like BBS's were way back in the day. They sure would be a lot more friendlier and in my opinion, a lot more fun to play. If your only defense for trolling or hatred is a stupid tag line, Then you should quit life. |

Its not really that anime-ish. I do really know what you mean about F2P Korean games' art styles. Flyff, for example, is like hello kitty meets mike's hard lemonade that has been sitting on a table too long. I have to admit Aion is a bit Asian-styled, although with the amount of character customization, you really can look any way you want to. If you're really curious, there are whole threads in this forum of character screenshots. Also, NCSoft changed a lot of the quests and the playstyle for the Western audience, hence the much later NA release date. I would say, after playing Korean and Western MMOs, Aion is somewhere in the middle. If you are really interested, I suggest giving it a shot and checking out the videos and NA screenshot threads. |

Actually Asian MMORPG's tend to be based a LOT more on PvP than on PvE. Yes its harder to level in most Asian games, thats not really a bad thing. Gives you more of a feeling of accomplishment once you reach the higher levels. All that being said, I myself usually find more fun in Asian games than ones from the US. They may not have all the huge raid content that the US games have, but the PvP is amazing. Raid bosses are there, but they are not the focus of the main part of the game. These games are based on the war between the 2 races, which is what Warcraft was, and what World of Warcraft SHOULD have been. Instead they watered it down and made it the PvE game of the century so that people like Tigole and Furor could have a place to flex their e-peens. I for one am sick of PvE raids. |

Here is the truth: Aion does not have the traditional asian grind. If you claim Aion is an Asian grind, then so is WoW, everquest 2, city of Heroes, Lotro and pretty much every other western mmorpg ever developed. |

im sorry man about the people here but if we even smell that you are somewhat trollish we tend to rip into you like a pack of wolves on a dead carcass, once you learn how to sound more neutral im sure you wont have these problems but remember this don't cast something into its stereotype learn about it by reading up on the internet and watching vids of it on youtube then make your post or you will probably get riped into again.
on the other hand i dont think you have anything to worry about this game being a korean grinder with sucky animations they actualy did realy well with this game (not acting surprised i stray very close to being a fanboi for this game) |

As i read the feedback of my original post and having had a few glasses of wine i'm reminded of the biblical phrase "can anything good have come from nazareth" well it worked in that situation.I'll wait and see,i hope my doubts will be proven wrong.

Aion has some pretty awesome animations, especially the Glad. What exactly don't you like about em? What is cooler then throwing your enemy in the air, jumping up and hitting him mid air? Well..I guess playing WoW doing that ridiculous spin move garbage is cool. . . . . . . . |

Yes, there are quite a few solid titles that have come from Korea, Lineage, Lineage 2, Aion, Ragnarok online and in the near future Soul & Blade, C9 and Terra. |

I enjoyed Lineage I/II for about 6 months each, if not for the huge grind I would have stayed longer with L2. "Just because you aren't paying doesn't mean it's not PTW." - Amaranthar |

Right off the top of my head Sims 3 and Fallout 3 both sold millions of copies and were good solid fun games. The hype for Madden football every year far exceeds any other game in the US. Halo and Call of Duty are both US developers. etc., etc... Inflammatory broad generalizations are a waste of time, and people will just call your BS anyway, so don't do it. As someone else pointed out, no one would have any idea where Aion was developed just by playing it. It plays pretty much just like WOW or EQ2. |
