I totally disagree I think both races have no qualities to be a wow alliance, just because both sides on poll thats going on atleast here on mmo it looks like both sides are more 20+ while alliance in wow is 13-19 more... if had to choose, the younglings will pick the elyos making the new alliance...

 

I chose Elyos because I figured the wow brats would go Asmo.

 

And quite funnily, there are more people going Asmo to run away from the kids. But my guess is really more kids in Elyos, but in the end it doesn't really matter, since some adults will act like kids, some kids will act like adults, and some guy will fake being a chick to get free monthly subscription from a desperate guy.

 

nice made me lol at the fake being a chick thing. when i see chick toons i always think there dudes. in are leigon like half the toons are chicks and i dont know if we have any girls in it. shit makes me lol

I think those are the men that use their characters as a fantasy doll at night... no girl, studio appartment and only PALMla HANDerson for love.

It was funny, in open beta I tried both sides and I found the Elyos side more graphically appealing though a bit on the sweet side.  Asmos also had a much more vulgar community in terms of the people in regional chat and I absolutely hated the bent over running of the Asmos though the Elyos upright running is less than great.  Other than that, black wings for Asmos and white wings for Elyos and the jump-flip for Asmos as well.  I just went ahead, upon reading the no-GG news, and ordered and made a couple Asmos, but I will make two Elyos on another server and play whichever seems to have the best community I think.

The good thing about stereotyping is that almost anyone can do it to some extent.

For example, one can argue that the people that bring this up are using mmos as a dating service (for irl males) or are jealous they might get less attention (for irl females). Just joking though since I am not the type of person that likes to stereotype, simply making a point.

As for the topic, I think most people play Asmodian because they can look "pretty" and badass so it attracts both type of people, just my theory though. The elyos are arguably even prettier and can also look badass (to a lesser extent) if you know what you are doing with the characters customization.

Honestly though Ice, that stuff's only going to be relevant to RP players.  The rest will go by appearance.

Of course, this duscission is moot - Asmodians are so popular that they're already locked from being created on most servers due to the blocks that are in place to ensure balance.

No one reads the lore except the five rp'ers that will be playing.  Asmo are popular because they're dark, brooding, and all the other cliches that resonate with emo youngsters.  Similar to destruction in WAR.

The only reason I want to roll Elyos is I don't like the dark dismal zones on the Asmo side. I got an SLI system and I like max eye candy. I'm sure there's probably some on the Asmo side, but I didn't see any in the 10 levels I played on that side in beta. All I saw was a lot of grays and browns. I don't really like their feet or the hair on their back either. I'll probably eventually roll some characters on that side. Seems like you always meet someone at work that plays on a different server/faction.

Either I'm reading this wrong, or you got the factions completely switched.

Asmodian's have the mane on their back with the claws on their hands and feet. Elyos are the "normal" looking faction.

I liked the asmos for the more glowing blue palette rather than the bright and yellow palette of elyos.  I also liked some of the asmo music.  Also you can make them look a bit grittyer.

if only they would allow me to roll one...

I think you're getting the factions backwards perhaps?  Elyos are the "normal" race - no back hair, no claws for hands/feet.  Asmodians are the guys with claws, manes backhair, and dark dismal colors.

On that note, plenty argue that the Asmo side has prettier zones than the Elyos.  However, it's all really personal opinion - something you'll really form for yourself as you play.

I read the lore and i sided with the asmodians, the elyos fucked up royally, maybe some people actually choose the side for a reason beyond wanting to be emo.

Everyone always has  to belittle it down to the simplest reasons, if it was elyos beiing overcrowded wed have a bunch of smacktard saying it is because the elyos look like fairies.

well I glad I made a eylos... Thinking I am going to reroll as one..:)

Some tried to establish a 6 vs 6 on Spatalos, anyway .... Noricum plays Asmodian on Votan ... 8 years and counting, saw Lios, Fury, Nolby,some new formed guilds ... but they are the guys to beat. Server is german though ... anyway, if you want to be anything you got to beat Noricum. ;)

Im on that server also.  The server is damn near split down the middle, however I think it may end up being more sided toward elyos.  aioninsider.com has claimed it as their server of preference and theyre elyos for what its worth.

also, if some of you think the alliance are the popular faction on WoW you obviously come from a PvE server.  Aion is a PvP centric game, and in WoW the horde dominate the PvP servers.  Maybe thats why you're seeing so many asmodians, after level 25 this is a pvp dominated game.

popular or not, i prefer the asmodians. when i played wow i played horde. when i played war, i chose chaos.  in my experience, people who believe themselves to be goodness and light are usually more lisble to be evil and darkness, spiritually... i prefer to be on the other side.

The bad guy is always the one wearing the black hat. 

Lore or not, the black wings and the more demonic look of the Asmodians make people think of them as the outsiders.  I fell into the same trap as another poster above, thinking that Asmo would be more like Horde.  It doesn't seem to be panning out that way.  Maybe because this is more PvP inclined than WoW it is attracting a different demographic.

well i will not be  asmodian they look great untill you logg into game and start moveing hate the way they run :).

I played Asmo and Elyos equally during CB5 & CB6.  I made 4 classes with each race to try out all 8 classes to see which one I wanted to go with. 

I found on the Asmo side that the people didn't talk to each other, they didn't randomly buff each other, they ninja'd ALL the time and the whole atmosphere seemed extremely 13 year old WoW kid playing. 

Totally opposite experience on Elyos side so that's why i'm rolling Elyos.  Plus I've kept hearing everyone wanting to roll Asmo and I always gotta go the opposite direction of the "popular" choice. 

I notice that in most MMOs the race of choice tends to be the ugly, demonic, or evil race types.. Perhaps it has something to do with the way people tend to act or portray themselves over the internet as "badass".

Of course there are the exceptions but in WoW I must say the popular races were mostly Horde. Chances are that the OP played on a server where he was outnumbered by the Alliance. That was an exception.

I tend to enjoy playing as the minority race whichever race that is. I like being outnumbered in PvP combat and I believe that the fewer the players around me the more that I can stand out amongst them.
