It's hyped, because it's a.) not WoW, and b.) because it's not complete and utter garbage, like the vaaaast majority of MMOs that have come out the past few years. It will be launching polished and playable, which is a hell of an accomplishment for this genre, apparently.

I think you pretty much nailed it with that post. It might be possible to add to point a) It's not wow, that it still is close enough to attract many from the same target audience.
