Darkfall's graphics look awful, there were a ton of glitches in the video, and the landscape looks totally barren. That said I think the fact that Darkfall has such harsh PVP consequences is awesome, the fact that in any fight you have a chance to lose everything you've worked so hard for is awesome. Yeah the fight may have looked like a cluster F but it was pretty cool, and just surviving a fight like that is really impressive. Thanks for the vid.

After watching this video I got kinda curious about something: is there any forests in Agon? I cant remember seeing a video with anything but open areas, like deserts and grassy plains and such...

That video is no different that the 40 (or so) other videos... it's nothing more than people chasing other people. Combat in Darkfall.. (actual combat) is pethetic. I'm sure many have fun riding next to their budz and talking smack as they are chasing people... but thats not COMBAT.

The vid in the beginning show a graphically nice game, with players in a wonderfully environment involved in fast paced , tactically interesting action. I am not convinced by bold misleading statements , i want to see what is better then the vid shown. What MMO games the quoted "critic" played in the 80's that he things  is better then the sample in the OP ?

You are a unique cat Darth, I'll give you that.  I don't think the poster honestly believes that a 1980's game has better graphics.  It's a statement meant to get his opinion across, and is akin to eating some bad cooking and saying dog feces tastes better than that.  An extreme comparison, nothing more, nothing less, and not to be taken as gospel.  Just his way of stating the game's look is not up to his personal standards.  You are being a bit too literal bub.

Look at the choices the char has for running direction .there is 2 ..go left (even i am not sure if going back to the left or even stoping is provided in these game) ..go right.. Darkfall supports directional move in any direction..eh ?

i am missing other player controlled characters on the screen, is this an MMO at all ..eh ? DArkFall vid shows many intracting chars ..i guess alone that forbids any  comparsion to that game ..eh ?

And in my opinion gameplay and graphics of Darkfall can compete with any MMO out there. AoC may has better graphics but Darkfall has better gameplay for example. So its your choice ..liking graphics or gameplay. The interaction in the Darkfall video was fast paced combat between many online characters, terrain played a great strategical role and playres fought over it , using various moves and no not alone wack, wack, but switching to different weapons and using different spells having to aim everyone of them to moving targets following  real time combat mechanics and not turn -based combat. Every element of what i listed and is to seen in the vid  is just up to date technology of MMO development   and not something used even 5 years ago let alone 20 years like haters claim.

Last time on this merrygoround, and I am getting off.  The statement they made quite simply has nothing to do with honesty, and has everything to with opinion.  One hundred percent.  In this context he was using an extreme example as a way to get his opinion across, which is the fact that he feels the game suffers visually in his opinion.

Now, if he did in fact mean it literally, then it is still not dishonesty.  He may honestly believe that 1980's games look better.  And while I have a hard time believing that, IF that were the case, then it doesn't make him dishonest, that's just his taste (much like I think the movie Twilight is an utter piece of gutter trash, yet many of the female youths of this country felt it was the best thing since sliced bread, that doesn't make them wrong, it just means they have bad taste in my opinion).

Here again, you are being way too literal with things, and there really is nothing else to be said on the matter.

Nice one Darth but you very conviently overlooked the frightening similarities both of those games have:

*They both had a nice idea behind them but it was nothing new or innovating it had been done by others already and better non-the-less (UO,SWG for Darkfall and a dozen other platforms/beat-em ups for Altered Beast i 'll pick my favorite one Wonder Boy)

*They both had that idea implemented poorly ( Altered Beast with it's unresponsive controls and outdated graphics [ yes outdated even for it's time], Darkfall with its clunky char. animations ,horrible U.I ,outdated graphics etc, etc, etc (i don't really have to name every single wrong turn Darkfall took to this day do i ?)

*They were both repetitive and grew old very quick making a new player not wanting to continue after the initial month or first quarter that went into the slot of the machine

*They both were adored by a very small fanbase that claimed that the rest couldn't play or appreciate  "their" game because it was  "too hard" even though the Altered Beast club wasn't as vocal nor as passionate as the one in Darkfall ,but i'm pretty sure that everybody that reads these lines knew somebody back then that claimed he could play the "X" game better than anyone else and that he was the best simply because nobody bothered to waste a quarter on it.

So next time please try not to overlook the point that was being made ( hint:outdated graphics)look at both sides of the coin not just the one that suits you the best, i know it's a bit too much to ask of you and a shot in the dark probably but i suspect that i might am a hopeless optimistic person deep down inside of me

And that was a free lesson on how not to look like a complete Darth (now i could've called you a moron like you did but that would be an insult to every moron out there and me)

AoC reminds me of pong and i see big similarities in those too, now i go post that in their forums. I might also go post in EvE forums that Elite and Eve must be the same game..oh wait ..it might considered trolling..

btw graphics in general have never been called outdated for Darkfall ;)  They have received a pretty good review value. Shadows in particular have been mentioned several times as an example of MMO genre leadings implementation.
