In my opinion an excellent review that pretty much describes my feelings about the current state of the game. |

I stopped going to Gamespy after the format change. They rely too much on 'humorous' articles and "Infotainment" I've been looking actually for a replacement to get gaming news from. The only thing I found so far is Destroid.com but even that is a little lacking. Any suggestions?
also, this article seems like a follow up on their last review, which just focused on bashing the user community of weeaboos and furries that they didn't like and seems to continue to fail to go over what the game actually has in it. It seems to think the game only issues 'randomly named items' instead of reading the backstories on some of the items you select on quests for instance boggles my mind. I am like "are you even playing the same game I did? I LIKE the backstory on the items...".

i never go by any reviewers for anything, ecspecially games and movies, and that reviewer seemed bitter about something. he only mentions what he doesn't like and says it like a whiney 12 year old. he had the character creator as a pro, but only refered to it in the "review" off hand to say the rest of the game sux. |

I like to go by reviewers if I feel I can trust em, or if enough say it is so, it becomes "Truthy" to me. This article even mentions it is a 'consensus' of reviews. I don't really buy it is a '2 star game' though or that it represents a valid consensus of objective reviewers. It seems like the same axe-grinder whose last article was shot down on there. I've played PVP and found it hilarious and enjoyable. I think the TP trick is going to get old and can see matches where "Travel Powers" are disengaged and other variants to make it a little more fast-paced/furious coming down the road. Yet, they call it basically a hot mess.

I don't think it's a shock that the people who like CO are going to think the review is wrong. But I think they should take a step back and look at the overall player view of CO.
If you read the forums on here alone you will see a lot of people are unimpressed with the game and feel it is lack luster. That review actually seems like a sum up of the majority of the posts/other reviews I've read about CO. So my opinion would be it was fairly accurate.
Anytime you are a fan of something and someone else says they dislike it, you are obviously going to disagree with them and say it must be because of something they did wrong or that they just have an agenda. But the majority of the time it actually is that the person just doesn't like the game, and in this case they are not alone. |

Considering the things that Gamespy reviewers do like i take their opinion basically...not at all...they're opinion is worthless just as their opinion was worthless with Warhammer Online. |

I do agree with these sentiments, even if contradictory with some other things they've said in the past: This may come as a surprise, but we reviewed the game as it actually exists -- not based on nonexistent content that may one day be patched in. Seriously, I don't get all the MMO apologists who defend bad launches and poorly plotted leveling flow. The "we'll patch it in later" school of design has been prevalent since the early days of MMOs, and genre enthusiasts are so beaten down that they just accept it because that's the way it's always been. This is not a good practice, and people need to expect more from their games.
Remember, it has to be fun to be a game. Grinding is a bedroom activity, and the point is definitely not to do my wife as fast as possible. |

HAHA so its just like CoH then? No suprise there. Played it and although I didnt read the article, character creation is top notch but things decline rapidly from there. Guess my main gripe with the game is that it is too linear. The world doesnt feel immersive at all. The PvP is just silly too imo. While these 3 things might not bother some or they may feel completely different, a large portion of beta testers such as myself found them bad enough to leave the game quickly. |

That review is piss-poor. Unprofessional, tinged with personal bias (like when he said the game should not have PvP, is he fucking serious?). Really, really shoddy review, even for Gamespy. It reads like a personal blog, not a professional review. |

I will say this about PvP, it should of been kept out of the game until they could of implemented a more fun, more balanced form of PvP. As it is now the mini games are boring and the powers are very unbalanced atm. Since PvP is only tacked on, they should of waited a few months before implementing it to polish it up more. Just my 2 cents tho... And I do feel the article might of been a little harsh in some areas, but for the most part it was a fair review as the game stands now. |

The review is harsh and uncompromising, but the comments made are very valid, step out of the character creator and there's just one thing to do with your creation and one way to do it. The game lacks depth and imagination in all the areas that actually make a difference. Sadly I think its because there's no-one working on it that is actually interested in comicbooks or superheros - adding more of the same sterile generic mmo tasks ad infinitum is certainly not the answer. However reviews don't make or break a game and Cryptic has a following that will no doubt carry it forward a whiles yet, who knows it may improve... just don't hold your breath. |

People might disagree with this review, but here is the real question. How many people, that go to this website see Gamespot giving CO a 2 out of 5, will this influence out of buying the game? I hate to say it will affect sales more than people know. Lets see what other reviewer say about the game.

Well the review certainly seems to ooze with a sense of frustration, however the Pro and Con i'd say is spot on. You can ignore most of the review and just read this:
Pros:
What more do you need to say? The customization is amazing, the rest of the game is pretty bland and there really is no purpose. WoW at least had a cohesive story-arch, i struggle to find something like that in CO.. |

This did seem more like a blog post than a actual review, but frankly the difference is always rote anyway. Reviews are reviews and are always a persons opinion regardless of how detailed or not one gets. This review is pretty harsh but sure did nail down some of the frustrations and silly parts of champs. The rediculous travel powers and endless holds make PvP very unfun by the time you get past level 20. The hold execution in general in this game is lame. Having to mash a button repeatedly every 3 seconds is frustrating. Lack of content is so also spot on. I'm 32 now doing level 35 missions because that's all I have left. Bad, bad idea. Power imbalances are also crazy in this game. It's awesome how one attack power is like shooting a BB gun with 1 pump while another power is like a Nuke fist missile of death. I've been playing MMO''s forever and sure, there's always been power imbalances in these games but I've never seen a pendulum swing so wildly in different directions in a game before. I mean, did they do any adjustments to powers in Beta? Any?!?! Anyway.. while this is one of the most harsh reviews out there I can't really say there's anything he said that was a wild lie. I think the industry average they have in this review is a pretty good consensus. 7.4 Middling average game that never gets better than the high point of creating your character.

If it actually had some content and didnt run like a bag of crap, it'd be a good game. The combat and stuff is good, the pve is fun and the customisation of powers is great, but its badly let down by horrendous skill balance and 99% of the content being soloable. The public quests are laughably bad and almost always empty and theres no real reason to socilalize. Get some proper group pve, a death penalty for dungeons and sort the PQs out! They should add another 3 zones for the under 30s (right now its just MC, Canada and Desert) as theres very little replay factor right now, and they need to get working on end game dungeons and pvp scenarios pretty quick.
