This just goes to show you all the mistakes NCSoft has made in the last week or so . . . and it has nothing to do with the game client! http://aion.24-hrgaming.net |

Not NCsoft but NC West has the issues. Understand that NC West is having a lot of issues right now with their massive launch, probably an unstable company in my opinion. On the other hand, NCsoft is doing well. |

Maybe i'm just smart or anyone else who believes that rant means anything is just dumb... Either way that rant did not even effect me other then make me say wow... in a world filled with typo's and imperfection some tool admin tries to nit pick for what purpose? I mean I guess if you cant use a games performance or gameplay as a tool to discredit it... lets pick on the fact the devs use twitter... I use myspace and facebook... I even put announcements on there as opposed to calling people to tell them every event in my life... One thing I can tell about that is if a company posts information on their website. It's a lot less often then a personal site with tweets at the devs disposal. Get with the new age... get over it and OMG... he put the wrong time... Oh and I dont know which server will be RP!!!!!!! Oh wait.. there is no RP server, just an unofficial one. I believe the devs said "send us details on events and such and we will be glad to oblige or help". Something to that extent then again how would the admin of gaming site/portal know anything like that.
/fail "Sometimes people say stuff they don''t mean, but more often then that they don''t say things they do mean" |

I am still going to play the game because the game works and our guild had a server picked way before the "Offical" list came out. Now the Dev. team posting updates on facebook and twitter before the site i'll give you that one Played Aoc/DDO/FFXI/WAR / LoTRo / CO / Aion Waiting for FFXIV to be the game it should. so sad =( |

Actually, these mental giants are sending these messages to each OTHER for the most part. If you're following them on Twitter, you can see the posts. If not, you're in the dark. http://aion.24-hrgaming.net |

Why can we read it then? It works, doesn't it? Every time servers went down I could check on Twitter how the maintenance was going, I don't remember seeing many games with such depth of information for the player. I won't exactly say it is bad, because otherwise I doubt they would be able to provide information as fast as on Twitter through a forum or news post where it isn't as quick as a personal twitter page. Anyway you could've just made it clear that your topic was meant to advertise your fansite. |

This seems to be a trend now-a-days, one I dislike greatly but that could be fixed with something as simple as adding an automated tweet feed from the official twitter pages to the front page of the main news site. Why no one has done it yet, I dunno. I don't use twitter myself and find it annoying checking personal twitter pages from multiple devs to find out wtf is going on with a game I'm looking at. |

From what i saw so far, NC adressed problems quite contemporary in general and the flow of information was quite steady. On the other hand, I played through some gamebreakers which remained unfixed for month by Blizzard or SOE. Some major crap wasn't even adressed in the first patch after and i had to wait some more month. There are TONS of examples. At least NCSoft is working on loginproblems and lag while Blizzard often insisted on the player's providers being the reason for the bad connections that made the game unplayable at times and for weeks. Or other companies which do not even talk to their playerbase to let them know that they have recognised a problem at all. Some things weren't all straight with the NA/EU beta, so what? Talking about which company is clueless or totally muzzled, many others come to my mind way before i'd think of NCSoft. |

I'm just happy I don't frequent the OP's fansite. It appears thier forum administrators and trolls are one in the same. (DISCLAIMER - The use of the word YOU in the above post is not directed at any one person in particular, but towards those who fall into the category itself - there is no personal attack here, neither intentional nor implied.) |

Posting on twitter and facebook before the official site, contrary to popular belief, is actualy a very good idea. Infact it can be called revolutionary. I can't think of any other companies that had the gall to do this. NCSoft isn't dumb or retarded for trying a new idea...they're being innovators. I think people are just bewildered that a new idea is being experimented with in this age of templates and "playing it safe". They used twitter and facebook because they're popular. Weither or not 2 or 3 people in this forum hate the sites is irrelevant...there are still millions of loyal users to the sites and they get updates about the game on their profile(if their subscribed- not sure how twitter works though). They wanted to reach a broader audience and they wanted the people to get the info fast. Twitter and face book can be fast and there are many people that use the sites frequently. Some poeple are just very social and would go to facebook.com before ever considering visiting aiononline.com...It's a matter of keeping up with the times. It's like when emails became the dominant form of communication over regular mail and again when cell phones(and smart phones) took over and put emails in second place. This is just a new idea...someone trying to push the envelope a bit(not alot). Now i can admit that it is a bit farfetched to update twitter before the "Official" site...but how often do you ping aiononline.com? i ping about once or twice a week maybe...not often though. That and you can get RSS feeds from facebook and twitter. So you can have news fed to you on your desktop(using windows sidebar if you have vista) you can get text messages about new things on facebook...It's an extremely networked world we live in now. Sure NC could've made an RSS feed for their site but are you realy going to sub a new feed and have it giving you news over your twitter(if you use twitter that much)?

As soon as the tweet goes it builds anticipation of that announcement and you see massive upsurges in hits on your main site compared to if you simply just put the official up. You also see small game spikes with people deciding to jump in game whilst they wait on these announcement's if in a live environment obviously Aion is a little different at this time.
Its nothing more than hey theres new news over there and is a great redirection tool as is facebook and all of the social networking sites.
OP site are idiotic MMO'rs since the dawn of the genre have screamed about 1 thing "lack of communication" when MMO companies look to provide more communication be it twitter FB myspace or whatever theyget shot down for it.

Actually, the twitter idea was brilliant, since it was a beta event and the beta boards would have huge amounts of traffic if something happened to the servers bringing down the beta boards and the game. It was simple to click the link and see a blow by blow of what was happening.. The article linked to is sort of weird. He/she/it lists the problems they have and then say, "oh, well they were fixed/updated the next day."
First it complains about the launch server announcement, then admits it was fixed the next day. Clueless?
Then it complains about the head start and pre-selection times being corrected days before there is any head start or pre-selection. Only one person clueless on this one and its not NcSoft.
It complains about some server survey and Oceanic and RP servers. There will be no official RP servers. There will initially be no Oceanic servers until they see what kind of ping the Oceanic players are getting. I'm not sure how NcSoft can help you if you aren't bright enough to understand these two facts. Again, it doesn't make them clueless, just the poster.
It complains about lack of information about Siege times. Really? That sounds more like just general bitchin' and nothing very important. I'm afraid the poster's ADD got the better of itself.
Good rant as rants go. Pretty much equal amounts of stupidity and incoherence.

To error is human. Thank you for showing us that NC west hires humans. Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries... |

Well after looking at the latest vidcast, they seem to be dysfunctional humans. But, we should be happy they had an early release date for us. September is much better than November in my opinion. |
