Britain’s broken families have produced a generation of dangerously uneducated young people, according to Lesley Ward, president of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers. She warns that many children have been taught very little because of the “poverty of aspiration” of their parents. The Daily Mail reports:

She warned parts of Britain now resemble ‘the times of Dickens’ with children beginning their education knowing only how to eat with a spoon.

Many have not been toilet-trained or eaten a home-cooked family meal around a table.

Some are growing up in splintered families not knowing from ‘month to month’ the identity of the father figure at home.

Daily Mail columnist Peter Hitchens offers this assessment of Britain’s appalling family life:

Our schools are terrible, and have been for years—so terrible that even the authorities are beginning to admit it.

But the teachers are right when they say that the real problem is in the home. And the problem of the home is actually the problem of an unhinged society that decided to try to change human nature.

Women, it said, had to work outside the home to be fulfilled. Raising children was something that would just get done in the intervals between work and sleep.

This idea came from a wild, Leftist coven whose members long ago grew up and got rich. But it just happened to suit a lot of businesses which find women cheaper and more reliable than men, and so it took off. And it has done limitless damage.

And to think we in the U.S have it bad..this what we want to emulate.

Perhaps it's a good thing you emulate families of other countries because the United States has the most teen pregnancies per capita in the developed world and one of the highest divorce rates in the world

Good old Conservative values. Shall we compare the stats to liberal countries for laughs and giggles?

Oh dear God please dont go showing the morale majority where their morales lie.  Yea,  the hypocrisy of the holier than thou crowd has always amazed.  Thats not a sole US problem though,  but we defiently have our share of it.

First of all it should be pointed out that the Daily Mail is the British equivelent of Fox news. As in they have a political agenda they dislike current goverent and regually [almost every day] inflate there storys when they reflect badly on the goverment.

As for the story itself yes there are problem areas with some problem children, but its not to the degree that the daily Mail has painted it. One thing i will agree on tho schools are in a bad way in many areas with a few exeptions, And i do agree its the fault of this goverment and the last goverment and the one before that.

As for it being said that women had to work outside the home. It is true that message was around but back then it was seen by pretty much everyone as a womens right issue [the right to equal working rights to men]. Those who were promoting this idea was the working class women none of which got rich off this just due to this campain.

An interesting topic its nice to talk about British politics rather than American....makes a nice change.

“Like many young British Muslims, I was ‘radicalized’ at college. Just as the three British-born men who were found guilty this week of plotting to blow flights out of the sky were recruited at school, I encountered extreme Muslims at the age of 16 and was slowly converted to their ranks,” writes Ed Husain in the Daily Mail. He continues

At my East London college, the Islamic society was run by the extremist group Hizb ut Tahrir, which believes in setting up an Islamic state, destroying Israel, and denounces Western values.

At first, I, too, was convinced by their rhetoric. However one awful violent moment changed me forever. A young African man was knifed to death by the Muslim contingent at the college, simply for being a non-believer.

“Now,” Husain says, “I believe I have to speak out about what I see happening in Britain before a terrible act of terrorism claims yet more lives.”

“[T]errorism is flourishing in our country as never before,” he writes. “Why? Because a toxic combination of politically correct policy, denial and fear have opened the way for hate to grow in our midst.” Husain goes on to warn about the scale of the problem:

Unwilling or unable to recognize the scale and cause of the danger we are all facing, our leaders have turned a blind eye to what is going on.

There are now tens of thousands of Muslims living in Britain, physically present in our country, but psychologically attached to Muslim-dominated countries.

Large parts of our cities have become Muslim ghettos, where you can wake up in the morning and go to bed at night without seeing a non-Muslim face.

They might as well be in Pakistan or Afghanistan for all the contact they have with ordinary Britain.

The dangerous spread of Islamic extremism in the UK is a problem British officials simply refuse to confront.

I have no idea what people are talking about when they refer to " Conservative values" in the US. We all know that there have not been real conservative values since Hollywood came to exist. Back in the day little girls tried to act like Marilyn Monroe, dressing sexy and seducing men... I seriously laugh when people think that .. REAL America is more like the movie " American Pie". parties, sex, and more sex.  That was how it was while I was growing up,  and I see that only getting worse with webcams available, and camera phones, much harder for parents to keep tabs on what their kids are doing when they do not even have to leave the house to be sending nude pics of themselves .. LOL!

Church camps these days are all about trying to get laid,  I mean why wouldn't they? That is what their camp counselors are doing ..

Women do not get together for tupperware parties anymore, they get together for lingere and sex toy parties.

AS A YOUNG MUSLIM MYSELF: I can tell you this is a load of rubbish, Hizb Ut Tahrir are very small. Their level of influence is very very small, infact I haven't even come across themin my travels, I have not even heard of them at Uni even less so afterwards. This idiot was one of very few people that get ivolved but i suppose it only takes one person to detonate a bomb, however you have to note that you have more right-wing facist extremists in britain than islamic extremists who are just as dangerous if not more. I say that because i have experienced this myself. I know Precusor will try to come up with some lame statistic from some incredibly biased site and try to push his anti-islamic agenda again, but seriously it's getting a little boring...

What exactly ARE "conservative values" in your opinion?

I consider myself conservative, and I am betting that you cannot even hit 5/10 points.

5 - 10 points? have you invented your own little game?

Conservatives in the US has been constantly trying to enforece their belief on other people. Conservatives, at least in the US, are very concerned with what other people do with their lives. Which is why they pushed for gay marriage ban, prostitution ban, drugs are banned, strict alcohol age requirement. None of it has worked.

The conservatives attempt to make sex, drugs and alcohol taboo has completely backfired.

The only real dangerous folks is the labor party and their ridiculous politically correct policy on how to treat the islamic radicals that live in Britain.

I wouldn't label that crowd the conservatives,  just a wing thats in them.    A vast majority of the country is conservative.  The democrates by many are considered liberals,  though even they are mostly made up of conservatives.

I guess the clique conservative/liberal must mean somthing more than how to acquire and spend money on a national level or somthing.  I really don't see any reason why.

Its worth pointing out those twwo words that probably greatly reduces the seriousness portrayed by the article you Quote.

The Daily Mail is well known as a strong pro conservative paper that likes smear campains and loves to find any bad news and alter and exaduate it to make the current labour gverment look bad.

As a result many dont take that paper seriously since they changed there reporting style to sensationalism news.

Liberals try and enforce their beliefs on other people as much as conservatives. Only the main belief that liberals stand for is "armed robbery is good, as long as you have an altruistic justification for that armed robbery."

Everyone tries to enforce their beliefs on others, only some of us want to enforce the belief that all people have individual rights and the proper role for government in society is to protect those rights, and only those rights.

If I had a bad case of the shits, the proper dodgy chicken vindaloo style shits and on my left was a stack of wonderfully soft silk arsewipes and on my right was a copy of the Daily Mail, I'd wipe my arse on the Daily Mail every time, no contest.

...The spread of secondary and latterly of tertiary education has created a large population of people, often with well developed literary and scholarly tastes, who have been educated far beyond their capacity to undertake analytical thought.

And on a more serious note, our school system is so bad that we had yet another year of record A grade exam results and there's not enough university places. Truly aweful school system, really.

Yes But whats the Worth of this Grade A?

Not so mutch compared to the rest of the world... Kinda like the Dollor..

A Level, A grade go and look it up, probably equiv. to undergrad diplomas everywhere else in the world, so yeah actually, probably worth a little more than the USD comparison.

Well, 1 out of 6 ain't bad. And BTW, it was the Democrats that passed prohibition, and it was democrats + FDR that came up with concentration camps for American citizens of Japanese descent.
