CoH was quite stable but the game had very little to offer when it came out: no radio missions, no IOs, you stack SOs. The game hs lot of content problem is no one wants to do anything other than AE farm... |

CO is a blast. Having fun everytime i login, period. Give it a go, judge for yourself. If you have a xbox 360 controller, plug it in - it makes the game so much better!

COH is better value.
When I left CoH we were running the same tiled missions over and over. If you had a concept for a cool hero that did not fit into their rigid Class system then too bad. for instance, I recall someone wanted to make a hero like 'Last Avatar'. all they wanted was Martial Arts and Fire. You couldn't do this in CoH
In CO, you can easily make a Martial Arts / Fire / Ice(Water) / Earth flight hero.
For the purpose of making a superhero concept CO is miles ahead of CoH
Not to mention CoH was a senseless grind to get to L50. I dont care what anyone says. It was a crazy grind running the same tiled instance over and over searching for a 'blinky'. PVE was pretty awful there.
In CO, PVE is actually fairly interesting., Problem is there's a shortage of them. Massive shortage. but they are quality and beats CoH by miles. |

I will say this though, people grouped a lot more in CoH. CoH had awesome LFG tools. And it was easy to share missions. In CO, I cannot share many quests and this is a real team killer considering mobs give bad xp
CoH, though PVE was vastly inferior, was at least easier to make teams.
CO is lacking some polish in this area that CoH had |

What is your definition of open world? seamless transition from zone to zone? |

I don't know how CoH is anymore, I played it for about 4 months when it first came out and during that 4 months I burnt myself out because of their stupid missions. Go rescue the hostages, next lvl you get go rescue the hostages and defuse the bombs same scene just bombs thrown into the mix and the missions just kept doing this over and over added the same stuff to the same missions.
I am enjoying CO, but I will admit that I really wish the game was more balanced, to make the best character you have to get certain abilities, as a fire toon I couldn't solo some super villians but after I swapped up some of the powers to what a friend told me about I easily was able to handle them. ![]() Damnant quod non intellegunt

I work in the industry and the current problem with MMOs is that publishers are simply venture capitalists that have no real passion for mmorpgs. They saw the money that wow and eq brought in and now want a piece of the pie. What happens is licenses are picked up, over hyped, and then shipped as nothing more than an organized tech demo. CO has alot of potential but was rushed out of the door by the publisher and now it is on Cryptics back to flesh the game out to gold standard through patches and daily server downtime to address current live issues. The current state of CO is a solid building block for what could be the premier super hero/villain game. Give them time. |

On balance it's just about ok rather than good. If you love to tweak and tinker with your avatar, want to develop one avatar after another according to you favourite designs and concepts, its one of the best mmo's out there, if however you love to quest and team or want to solo and immerse yourself in the world its probably one of the worse (oh and no villian play so meaningful pvp is also relegated to a simple game by design and is horribly unbalanced). A tremendous and deep character creator paired with an undernourished and generic world; the benefits offered by one severely undermined by the negative aspects of the other, your overall view will ultimately depend on the balance of importance you set between them. |

i had been recently playing Coh to kill time till Aion, was having a blast in it...kinda. i got my character from 1-50 in like 4 days (maybe 3) all people do in the game anymore is AE farm. i bet i didn't get to play my character 1/2 the time i leveled him.well more like 25%, now taht he's 50 i did do the ITF (roman armor)and another TF forget wich. made a WS planned on trying teh rest of the game out but could never get a group. but bought CO because i do enjoy the super hero MMO thing, honestly the only reason i quit CoH years ago (had over 1000 days since last played when i went back) was because it made me motion sick, must have been my old rig or something didn't happen at all this last time i played it. but i am enjoying CO atm, i like how you build enurance with your one attack to you can use your more powerful attack rather than running out and having to rest or pop something to restore it.deffinitly feels more actiony than CoH for me.but as otehrs have said CoH is a group game where CO seems more solo type, but you do get tough missions where you need a group. i'll LFG if no one is on the mission, i change tyhe channel and i'll find some one. i LOVE the ONE server with multiple channels. wish all MMOs was like taht, i can ALWAYS find some one on the mission i'm on if i look.100 people per channel oer zone is alot IMO tho when you first start out they're capped at like 50 then after i got my new powers and what not it went up to 100. not sure if they made it taht way to prevent gold farmer spam or what?(wich i haven't seen in game at all) i really like the crafting, my main is a DW blader, and crafting gives me new costume pieces. like new weapons when i equip them into my powers, and it changes my sword graphics. the power replacements i can make adds dmg procs to my attacks. others i seen adds a buff proc different depending on teh item. |

I would echo what others have said in this thread. I played CoH for about a month and just didn't enjoy the game. I was very skeptical about trying CO but after having played the Aion beta I already know that it's not for me. I decided to give CO a try and I'm not sorry I did. The game is solid, and despite a lot of the complaining it really is running fairly smoothly for this early in its life. Yes, there are bugs in the game and yes it definitely needs content added. However, the open endedness of this game just makes it fun. I feel like every day I have an idea for a cool super hero. It really lets you use your imagination and run with it. The combat is fast paced and well thought out. I wasn't there for the launch day "nerf" and I'm pleasantly suprised with the difficulty level of the game. It's not super tough but it does make you think at times. Anyway, if you're willing to go through some of the initial bumps and bruises of the early life of an MMO then definitely give CO a chance. If you're looking for CoH 5 years after launch with better graphics then I suggest waiting 6 months. |

Of all the new MMO's I have played... CO stands out as the best, for where it is as a new MMO. I have been MMOing since EQ1 launch day. Fact is there is only a handful of end game content but that is true of every new MMO I have played. Beside that is a rich list of new content coming out with a very active dev list that seems so far to be interested in their customer base. They have made many changes that has been asked on the forums. The small short falls of this being a new game is out weighed by a great open class system (still being balanced, and doing a good job of that IMO) Fun to level and some really great stories so far (if you take the time to read them) and some of the story is voiced over dialog. The Nemesis system is the most unique thing I have played in any MMO and on it's own makes it worth playing. The list of things the dev are talking about adding to the nemesis system makes me very happy I bought a life time sub =-) If you don't play CO now because its a new MMO still being polished. Pop by in 4-6 months. I think any MMOer is a fool to not come see that this game is not just hub bub. My wife and I are in LOVE with this game. Ooo ya and feels good to have combat not be parked in one spot. Combat is not action arcade like they claim but is by far more action based then any other MMO I have played. I really feel like a super hero! EDIT: I have been a member of MMORPG forever and CO is the first MMO that made me want to come here and speak my mind and say pls COME and play =-) |

I have played both and was disappointed in CO. You may like it, but unless you have monay to burn, wait for a free trail. I after several major disappointments, I never waste money on a game before either trying it in beta or a free trial. While reviews can help eliminate games that are just plain bad, you can't really tell if a game will be fun for you personally without trying it. Some people have plenty of money to throw around and don't mind wasting $50 on a game that they'll never play again after the first week or two, but I'm on a limited budget, so I'm careful about where I spend my $$.

This game is retarded! When one of the "features" is nothing but a nuisiance, you really cant give this game or its devs any credibility. Im talking about the Nemesis system. I cant believe they list this as a feature. On top of that, you never know where you stand when you log in. One day you can solo everything, the next day the henchman and wiping the floor with you. It is a single player game that requires you to group every few missions depending on the day and how broken the game is. It has zero replayability, as its all the same content / missions. Its just dumb. This game is Tabula Rasa 2. With no enemy faction and nothing to do but PVE, it will bleed subs quick because it is borring. The PVP is a joke. Its cage match no objective death match that is just retarded. I am a huge fan of PVP which is why i play MMOs, and I refuse to PVP in this game because it is retarded. The travel powers and the character customization is nice
When people arent stealing your quest objectives while you are killing the guard mobs, the community is pretty decent, much in the same way that mongoloid Corky was on that TV show. They are constantly apologizing and defending for the deves, and handing out passes for a bad product. No lesseons were learned from 2008 it seems. |
