I suspect the previous poster was just taking screen-shots from the games he had installed - I doubt he was deliberately trying to be unfair. If you have something different to show us, then go ahead.

Ofc - if everyone had posted "we prefer the asian style coz we really like seeing young girls", then you may have had a point. But many people have posted the exact opposite.

It doesn't matter how the female characters look. I prefer a good gameplay instead of stare at the breasts  from the female chars.

Lots of asian games look like children to me. No wrinkles, no scars, teenage body with a rack of someone with implants and the proportions of leg are way too long - the women are quite comic book in proportion. The asian ones seem to have tiny mouths, no hips but big on top which doesn't happen normally. When I look at games like aion I think geisha.  Some of the worst are the anime like big eyes - simply can't relate at all to those.

When my brother was in Japan he was sending pics all the time of wacky stuff - they are into bright colors and even sell panties in vending machines - it's no surprise that their women in games are unrealistic - and what you might call pretty if 14 yr olds are your style. Agree with someone else mentioning the androgenous look of the males in those games too - pretty boys that may be girls. That's ok but it's just not the style of lots of north american men - they are rougher and more cowboy like in their activities - they would be more likely to ride a horse than sew a pretty saddle and dye its mane.

Look, believing that someone fights in a flowing white dress and perfect makeup and has no scars or bumps/bruises is just ridiculous - asian mmos just try to emphasize the fantasy in this way to me. When I play a game like lotro with muted colors and fat characters its more realism than those offer - asian mmos are TRUE high fantasy in their color and glow.

It's about the style you like, while I find some asian mmos pretty - they still look like children or teenagers in lots of ways and I don't want to play a character that looks 14 but I'm supposed to believe that they are the "world's hope" and that they are grand adventurers with enough wisdom to combat the baddie.

Humm there's so many reasons behind it. If you take a class in photography at any college, you should come accross a subject that discuss about various styles of photography based the culture of each region.

The first thing you need to see is that in asian, most people there are thin and on adverage good looking. The climat, diet and etc probably plays a huge role there. Then check out all the northern europe girls, I guess cold is good for the skin?

Just compare the average of a city like Montreal to let's say Texas. The average in Montreal are 5'8" and 135LB. Add that with a much more balanced diet and a culture centered on walking and biking around town... people in Montreal will look great.

translate that into a video game or just a drawing... well your prime example are gorgeous ladies.

I'm just mashing up everything here but I think you can see my point... Then you have different types of drawing and style... Manga, French, Western, Disney... I think Disney are the ones with the most "sexy" bodies lol

True - but it's kind of off-topic given the number of asian games where all the characters look like westerners.

Well, to me most (not all) Asian games lack in gameplay features, so they compensate (or perhaps its because of) in the area of graphics.

I could care less what my character looks like as long as the game play is fun.

To each his own.

its not all about female characters, male too.

can someone dare not to say they dont laugh their ass off while they scroll down to western ones after watching asian ones? i showed it to a buddy without telling him whats up... jus watch.... while i scroll down from top to bottom..... and down to the western ones..... he jumped! he got scared of ugliness! hideous! goofy! funny! robotic! hilarious! no joke!

western art outside of pc game is totally different story.... jus look at disney's mermaid, anastasia, wildcats, x-men, dc, heavymetal, fantasy art meseum gallery, ben 10.... they are not hideous and they look kickass!

What I usually wish western games had from the asian ones is the armor desing.

it may be fact but playing games with ugly characters is like french kissing an ugly beast missionary, and you have to look him/her in the eye (quagmire) i cant do that. i got to have some mods.... sadly mmorpg is not like single player games like oblivion where its ugly but we have mods to live with it... while mmorpg dont.

 That was lots of DWARVES and even a wrinkled old guy screenshots in western-made mmos, so I feel "slight" preference to asian graphics to this guy who posted all those screenies.

Also, to be fair, it should be IN-GAME shots and not box and ad art, those are magnificent in western made games and you know it.

Nevertheless even if asian games in all have better looking characters, I STILL dont like their style of armor and weapons, their "heroic" poses and their faces which all look like they just came from a beauty salon even if they should be sweaty and bloody of all the "heroic" battles. 

And they all look emo.

People complain about magazine women being airbrushed.

From the comparison pictures the asian games look airbrushed.

I suppose western games aim for (may not achieve) a more realistic look?
