Another one that I'm not too fond of is Mortal Online. You might like it but it hasn't interested me at all.
dont get me wrong, I enjoyed AOC but I couldnt get into it when it was finally fixed. The game world was so empty playing as a character fresh out of Tortage that it felt like i was playing a single player Witcher spin off. Im more mad at FC because I pre-ordered the game and was very excited for alot of stuff they offered. Mortal Online remidns me too much of Darkfall, which I do not like 1 bit. I really hope Aion pulls through or I will have no choice but to return to wow, and that is a fate i want to avoid.
Even if Aion fails which I doubt, I would rather die in a corner then ever go back to WoW. Not only that but I couldn't even if i wanted too. That game is such full of fail now that I'd play for 24 hrs at most before reclosing my account and walking away. If your really burnt out with MMO's you might want to think of going back to console gaming for a bit. I got back into playing Killzone and CoD in the time I spent not playing WoW waiting for the games I listed above.
Idk man. Hope it works out for you. You might want to relook at Jumpgate. Although it's like EVE with the space theme, It's completely different with its game controls. Unlike EVE you can actually fly the ship Yourself. It also has all the MMO favorites like an AH and arena or world pvp. The big selling point of this game for me was here playing the game across 3 screens is just godly IMO. I myself have a setup like that and am DYING to try it out.
But thats just me. GL either way.

It's ironic that you "have an issue" with people that judge the game based on "personal problems" with it, and one of the two criteria you set forth as "acceptable" for judging the game is the definition of individual preference- "Is it fun for me?" 1. Yes it works. That's great and better than most new released MMORPGs recently. 2. No, I don't find being herded through non-stop mob-grinding for 20 levels hitting 2 or 3 abilities to be fun. People keep saying the game suddenly gets great later (after 25), yet most of the people saying this haven't even played the game past level 25. One of the first responses was from someone that bought 4 months of the game without liking the beginning based on the idea that the game really gets awesome at end-game. As for other games, well, my problem is I've basically played all of the good ones out. Games that are definitely better than Aion (not because of personal preference, but because of content, quality, diversity of gameplay, combat responsiveness and variety, quest quality and variety etc- these things can be quantified and many other games score higher than Aion on all accounts) and I would highly recommend playing if you haven't yet: WoW LOTRO FFXI (although it's pretty ancient by now and they're concentrating on the new one- finding groups nowadays may be difficult) Unfortunately for me, I've already had my 7+ months fun with all 3 of these. I'm currently playing the new free version of D&D online. It seems decent so far, and hey it's free. |

Edit- I don't know why but mmorpg.com replaced my checks with ? so... yeah.
Content- All 3. Reason: for the time each game has been out, the lvl of content is appropriate. Quality- Aion, LOTR. Reason- For the time we are in the lvl of graphics and engines used for each game is "acceptable" for these 2 games. WoW ......WAS......ok 6 years ago, but times have changed. "But wait Hepisodic! Wrath updated its graphics!" Why thank you WoW fanboi for pointing that out, Blizz's "update" is hardly noticable and IMO still shitty compared to what we want from a game now. So WoW fails in Quality. Diversity of gameplay- All 3. Reason- Each game has a large group of classes to choose from and a wide world in which to explore and enjoy. [No stop WoW fanboi don't say Aion doesn't have enough classes, mostly every class you find in wow you can find in Aion. With the exception of the (soon to be 4) new class additions Aion is = in player class options. Give aion 5 years and 3 expansions and I'm sure you will see more classes to play with. ] Combat responsiveness and variety- Just Aion. Reason- WoW's combat responsiveness is utter garbage at this point. BG's and even Arena's still lag like shit when you get more than a few people together spaming the shit out of their spells. Along with Variety? EPIC FAIL for WoW. The same animations have been around for 5 years. Do you know how boring it is to see a rogue Backstab for the 1 sextillith time? LOTR is a carbon-copy of WoW's combat type so no need to go into that. Aion brings a fresh change to normal PVP. Especially for NA and EU players. It's very refreshing for myself and many others. Quest quality and variety etc- All 3. Reason- No one will argue that all 3 games have great quality quests and quest variety. Some will say Aion doesen't but you can go kill yourself because you people barely played the first 10 lvls let alone capped a toon off so you don't know nor can you say anything about Aion's quests. Some may say that WoW's suck because 95% of the quest are "kill 10 of these; bring me 50 of those; kill 100 of these". Where I'd agree with you out of my pure hatred for the game, Overall WoW's storyline through its quest is very entertaining, So WoW passes. Finally LOTR, many people love the LOTR storyline from the movies, and some from the books. LOTR delivers in its quests as you really feel in the story as you quest. You feel like you are your character and therefor I also pass that.
In Conclusion, as for games better than Aion. The only Game that gets marks across the boards is Aion... So... yeah....

And even with old races you can start doing RFC dungeon at 13, or even lower, think the minimum is 10. |

It hasn't yet for me. Idk about others but it does sound like your just burnt out of MMOs if you are getting bored that quickly. The more skills you unlock the better it gets. I know that for my warrior, there was only like 3 attack moves until i hit lvl 10. Then every lvl after that just kept unlock more and more moves making me enjoy it more and more. The animations are really cool especially when you unlock that special kill attack. Veritas Vos Liberabit- The truth will set you free. |

I love how ppl say that anyone not ready to jump on the new FOTM MMO is 'burnt out on MMOs'. I'm not going to play Aion, and I'm not burnt out. I just quite simply don't think Aion is nearly good enough to put up with the garbage that is Gameguard. Simple as that. |

Desperate enough to die ? ;) Comon guy, be reasonable: look at it and think: life is just too beautiful to die for a game. ;) I smile when I see people love/hate WOW that much , they don't even realise they want to play a lesser copy of it. Leveling through pvp they jacked from WAR. Dual specs....was interesting yes but again made the game stupid easy. "hey we need 6 tanks for this... ok you 5 go dps now." Too easy too gay. Mounted combat, nice thing to say but doubt will come out anytime soon. WoW2? No one wants that everyone can agree. Even WoW fanboi's bitch about lvl a new toon. Rated BGs? come on... that doesn't even tickle me with interest. 80k ppl in LFG? you can never get people in a group or raid when 50 people are in the LFG channel. Putting more people will just make it more people sitting around fingering their @ss. (Personally, I think that when that goes into effect. Watch how much lag it will cause. I can forsee that cross server LFG causing major Blizz lag. [More than usual])
And I'm not desprate. Yes I hate WoW after what they did to get more money from the game. But I'm not siting rocking back and forth on the floor praying for someone to kill WoW. They are killing themselves. Remember when they wanted to cut ventrilo out and put a speech chat in game? That took months to work out all the bugs and Last I check people still don't use it and it still doesn't work.
IDK man. If you love the game that good for you. But that game is long dead IMO.

Well, wow has built in an impressive amount of content during the years, but it still looks god awful with its low graphical neon colored cartoons. Having to look at them in panorama would just be too painful. |

I've only played the OB of Aion for a few hours and already I find myself getting tired of it. Party because I was so hyped up that as soon as I got to play it all the flaws stuck out like sore thumbs. Lot's and lots and lots of the same running and fetching over and over and over. Honestly I was saying to myself... "ok I'm here now when does the fun part start?" Plus the textures are just [RELATIVELY] bad. Yea I said it. Not bad at all for an average computer game, but B-A-D for a mid 2009 9.5Gb download MMo using the crytec engine that is a paid for game and subscription based. They need a high resolution pack for those of us who like more detail and less gaussian blur!!! There are obviously going to be views on both sides of the fence but I'll tell you from the perspective of a guy that builds his own computers and runs most games with all the eye candy maxed out... this game looks and plays too similar to WoW. It's another game that wants to be as close to wow as possible but have enough tricks up it's sleeves to earn some market share. Good attempt but not quite. Now for the good news. You can goto IJJI.com and download Soul of the Ultimate Nation and have almost the same quality of game [RELATIVELY} for free. Of course it doesn't come across quite as polished and it'll be cash shop based (I don't see the down side of cash shop...) but I've played a good portion of it now and I can say it's been a joy-ride. From logon to logoff you'll be pulled down into it and have that old MMO feeling again... you know the one that makes you feel like you didn't just waste 2-3 hours of your life that you'll never get back? I hate that feeling.

I have not been very impressed with what I have heard about Aion, but I thought I might as well give it a shot, so I played it to level 15 today.
Was pretty decent to start off with, few bugs or lag and interesting music, but the gameplay quickly became a constant loop of quest hub after quest hub with exactly the same style of quests over and over again as well as straight grinding, and spamming the same five or so skills over and over. It probably didn't help that I was a templar as it took a year to kill anything.
So after about 10 hours of gameplay I am pretty much bored out of my mind, and I don't see things changing very much for the next 10 hours. I suppose pvp will begin to happen, but as a Guild Wars fan, I am not that keen on levels / gear > skill. And trust me, a player only 3 levels higher is extremely tough to overcome. Levels make a massive difference.
As for what else? I am a little wary of Mortal Online, but I am willing to give anything a shot that doesn't do what Aion did. I am also greatly looking forward to Global Agenda.

Honestly the combat was pretty good. Well here I am in front of my computer at 3 am and thinking about Aion, I would sure play a little more if I had the time As a templar I has hitting: 1 a special attack with the back of the sword that lowers target's damage 2 a special attack that does more damage 3 a shield triggered by 2 4 a blocking ability 5 an ocasional shield stun 6 another special attack triggered by 2 too when shield is in cooldown. Add to this a taunt if I was in a group. That makes 7 different actions at level 10, which is very good. |
