What IP would you give your first born for and what gaming company would you like to develop it?
For me, it would be "A Song of Ice and Fire" by George R. R. Martin with Turbine developing it. If Turbine didn't do it, Blizzard or Mythic (the RVR system would be epic in that situation).
The possibilities for a ASOIAF MMO are endless. You have several houses in different regions which would allow players to side with one and work toward achieving their glory. Classes could Knights (tanks), Maesters (Healers), Rangers (Ranged DPS), Outlaw (Melee DPS), Mercenary (AoE DPS), etc. The MMO practically writes itself. |

I agree with ASOIAF. For me, it'd be Shadowrun. the official MMORPG.com deadhead |

Neuromancer. Developed by Funcom. And I would play so much I wouldn't have time to take care of a kid, so the first born thing would be okay. Guess I'm a classicist - I would enjoy Shadowrun a lot, too, or even WoD if it ever comes out, but William Gibson was the first. |

Shadowrun. And you can't have my first born. He's my teammate. Maligar Kelison |

Warhammer. With the caveat that it must be an MMORPG pushing for deep combat rather than the shallow mechanics you see in WAR (faceroll ability design, and excessive crowd control.) |

Rumpelstiltskin! But seriously, Shadowrun and you can only have him it he gets to be a dev. Maybe the original Horizon design. |

I remember people getting really excited for AoC and the Conan IP. Fun Days. I think a mechwarrior MMO done right would be pleasing.

Actually, purely by coincidence, we named our firstborn Sil .... Spellborn International Limited .... TcoS anyone ? :)
My second family expansion will be in a week or 2 ... and i would like to name him Jayne or her Kaylee ..... for a sandbox FireFly MMO :D

My first born is free. He will more than likely have many issues. |

World of Darkness is in dev so I'm a happy camper... Now, back to praying it doesn't suck. Also, Warhammer 40k is in dev too... Gamer bliss that I hope doesn't get blown to bits by an Earthshaker Cannon. :( |

Originally posted by Scot Indeed it would. I like the idea of your class very much altering your gameplay experience. I imagine a Guild Navigator would have a VERY different UI and gameplay options. It would be nice to see MMOs move in this direction. BTW - I'm currently reading 'The Butlerian Jihad', Some very interesting info on the beginnings of Spice use and the war against the intelligent machines. Well worth reading.
As for my choices - Survival horror would be #1. SO much potential gameplay which requires teamwork and co-operation. Not mention comical mayhem. Check out recent threads about this subject. Some very cool suggestions in there. A world based on Miyazaki's anime. It would make a fine MMO setting. Larry Niven's 'Known Space' universe. - Who wouldn't LOVE to explore the Ringworld? Philip Jose Farmer's Riverworld. Interacting with famous historical figures as your clan claws out a part of the world for itself. Roger Zelazny's Amber setting. Some very interesting concepts for RPG play. Jack L Chalker's Wellworld The 'Traveller' RPG system Still lots of great source material untapped for MMO inspiration.
