It's not amazing, but it's not WoW. It's different, has its own unique features, mimics some of those used in other MMO's. But it's new, it's sorta different and it's the new game. This hype happened with AoC, WAR and now Aion. But guaranteed Aion will be much more successful than AoC and WAR. Simply because the devs aren't cocky or arrogant. They never jumped on the stage and overhyped the game like with WAR. They simply stated what the game has, lived up to what they said. Had tons of betas, people are playing exactly what the devs said. The service is good, the customer support is great. Everything it was supposed to be it is. And it's also a lot of fun. More so than AoC and WAR. There's nothing unexpected or nothing that was left out. What's in the game is in the game and it's fun, interesting and different. The PvP is great, the PVE has some new features that make it slightly different. All-in-all. It's a good MMO, not amazing, not fantastic. But it's good, especially for a Korean MMO. I'd say its equal to or slightly better than WoW, but that's subjective and many won't like it. But I know a lot will and this game shouldn't have issues with getting at least 1mil subs and that's all it needs. I can't see any issues with it like in WAR. Everyone that's been playing it is enjoying it. The devs are responding to the players, rapidly updating, enhancing, fixing and improving the game. It will be all that you thought it would be and more. And what it is, is a lot of fun. Definitely nothing revolutionary. It's simply just new, and for those bored of WoW. This is one of the best alternatives to WoW on the market. AoC is ok, but the customer support is bad and the game is lacking in content. WAR PvP is terrible(better than Wow), the customer support sucks, devs dont seem to care and dont fix issues like class balance. As long as the devs for Aion continue to work hard, listen to the players and sort out of known issues before it's to late. This will be a great alternative for tired WoW players. Until a better MMO comes out, which will be a while. So ya, it's nothing spectacular, but it is new, it is different, it does have some new features, great graphics, awesome pvp, amazing game world and a nice balance of classes. I'm enjoying it atm, but at this point I was also enjoying WAR. So anything could happen. Playing: WoW, Played: Aion, AoC, Eve, EQ, EQ2, LOTRO, Runescape, Guild Wars, DAoC, Planetside, SWG, WAR, Darkfall Wanting to try: DCU Online Waiting For: Star Wars The Old Republic, Guild Wars 2. |

It FEELS fresh and that's all that matters. Doesn't matter if it's orginal or not... even though I think it has plenty of different features and thus I would call it orginal. The art design really pulls you in. It's pretty stable for a NA launch and so yeah... I would say it's amazing. Of all the MMOs I've played I would say this better than WAR, Champions Online, Vanguard, CoX, The Chonicles of Spellborn, D&D Online, EverQuest 2, and Age of Conan. It's at least as good as WoW and Lord of the Rings. The only MMOs out there that are better than this one are Guild Wars and FFXI. (That is all my opinion but it should give some people an idea of where I think it falls in the list of MMOs.) |

In wow It looked like I was playing dance dance revolution. But then again all of WoWs style seemed like a 80s saturday cartoon. Maybe you have a old card or something. But the movements are fluid and so is the cloth. Sound is even top notch.
About the topic.... I wouldnt say amazing cause its not my favorite type of mmo (Big on "sandbox") But the game is realy immersive. Ive even found myself reading some quets. One of em I dont know if it was a quest chain or something but I had to give a guy a book about nymphs and I started killing stuff. Got a book as a drop and it was about the same guy but long story short im hiding out at a waterfall trying to steal a girls dress. Graphics and art style mesh good. Animations and sound are solid (for the classes I played). Weather and NPC mob interaction are a plus aswell. |

The potential is there. Nothing ground breaking just a solid mmo that might be able to pull off a game with pve & pvp that does not suk. Time will tell. NA peeps can play OB, just reg at FP (not paying customer): www.fileplanet.com/promotions/aion/beta/ Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries... |

Guild Wars is a good game, but how can it compare on the MMO level? You can only meet other players in the cities. Once you are playing in the world you are completely alone with you 6 people party (or completely alone if you are not in a party). You will never ever see any other players in the game world. To me, the fun in mmos is the community interaction. You meet people when you are playing, you help people / people help you, you make/join parties, you make friends you would never meet otherwise, you see player events happening around you,... Guild wars doesn't have this. It's a good multi-player game, but an mmo? don't think so.
edit: I agree with the rest of your post though.

You guys are a joke and with such comment you are KILLING every single hope MMO has to get to the level it once was. Freaking Wombies - you can't go and play "more of the same". Your expectations are low and you guys are spoiled. Game is good because it is polished? Lol for real ... go play Fallen Earth or any other MMO out there that is far from polished, but at least offers something new to the genre. AoC, even WAR - all offered something new and sink because they were unfinished. Remember what EA did with FIFA - you brainless braniacs are assuring that it happens the same to MMO world - and you can see it hapenning already. Only a weak almost IQ 73 would say that the game is "nothing new but is ok because it is polished". Don't get me wrong - I am not talking bout the people who like the game for the game - but those who think it is nothing new and it is just polished should just stop playing MMO's ... |

From a technical viewpoint Aion is the shittiest AAA title I have played, like, ever actually. I have to use my laptop as a relay to be even able to log on on my desktop machine and that's just hilarious. After leaving the noob island there are also constant crashes, didn't have those with AoC, LotRO, WAR, etc. I guess I can count myself lucky for not having any issues with Gameguard. Some in game stuff is far from "damn good" as well, like the stoneage terrain textures. While I didn't encounter many bugs, my overall beta experience so far completely invalidates the claim that Aion was some extremely polished game compared to the recent European titles. Especially considering it's been out for the better part of a year already. |

It's a lot easier to build upon a polished base game than to bug hunt the new features on top of bug hunting the original game. |

aion hasnt superb grafics oô guess simply most pcs are shitty in here?! wow animations (and not effects, theres a difference) are MUCH better... and champions online is HELL better in effects... and look in aion at the worldtextures... mainly they are worse. wow did it in wotlk better... most other games did it better... but, hype is bigger than being realistic. and...defeating the game where someone is wasting his time (or just playing an mmo, which is the same) is a popular attitude. its just cute and a good art design. highquality models that are sexy and thats it... technicaly its a good game, but theres not much new in it. its good and bad. the good thing, its harder to fail. the bad thing, you wont get innvations. look at wow... it changed the mmo world to static themepark world. everything that was not themepark style got killed until now... (f.ex. collecting the key for strat/ubrs... instance prequests and so on...) ... hope people will cry for new things. not for another nerdy (heyho lineage2) ... or too casual (every stupid idiot is able to do EVERYTHING) game... it should serve for all parts... and not get streamlined for just dumbness ...

It lays the foundation for everything else to even feel worthwhile. Thing is, I want to see innovation, too. A game that is both polished and innovative - because if it's just polished, it will be ok, at best. Like Aion. What's so hard to understand about that?
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world. |

You keep repeating the same thing now on all the recent threads. I hope you realise that behind this facade of superiority, your actions reveal worry. Which really doesn't make much sense, it's not like Aion is threatening WoW. |

@OP, Your avatar is pretty awesome. Anywaysssssssssss, play Aion on a high end rig and you will see how great the graphics are. Also, Aion is the elite of the elite of NCSoft. Its the 2nd place mmo in the world. About 3-4 months ago, I said it could possible beat WoW in subs (zomg WoW killer zomg...sex with asians) but it wont. I dont want to make this into a "WoW is better so stfu" thread but Aion is an infant in a company that has a shoddy record of raising kids and they just dont have the focus on development extension that Blizzard has shown they have.
But, regardless, I will be playing Aion come the 20th of this month. I will be focused on reaching max level but more focused on killing whatever I have the ability to kill on the opposite faction. I will enjoy myself I think and hopefully I will forget about how much better the World of Azeroth is atm.

You don't see the flaws in your logic do you? Let me ask you why is Aion reasonably polished game - because it is almost 1 year old and to demand such polished products is science fiction and can go in 2 directions : a.)never gonna happen b.)(already existing) game launches and hosts a full subscription beta (the case with War, Aoc and Vanguard What I am trying to say is that this ilussion about polished games is just that - an illusion. You cannot even start to polish the game untill you have 100k+ players - all MMO releases showed us the same pattern before and the argument "WoW might be buggy at beginning but now it is polished and you cannot compare that x game to wow at start but of present state" kinda holds the ground but if you guys want ready mades ( :D - WoW in Louvre ... frankly I could see that happen) MMO genre will stop evolving and will become copy after copy after copy of the same concept. Implementing new features is a pain in the ass and spoiled players that want polished game at release and are not prepared to help devs polish the game for them are simply stupid. It's your turn - do you want another vanilla ice cream or you want some new tastes that requires some testing and collecting opinions. Like it was already pointed out - it is not that hard to make a polished rdm - you just take an old wheel and a chair .... but to create a wheel in a chair takes some time. RDM is a negative comment towards art - WoW is a RDM in MMO's.
Now please stop with the childish wow mentality - I WANT THIS NOW AND I WANT IT FIXED (even if it is just another branch of vanilla ice cream) and help evolve MMO's - pre WoW mentality noone even expected the game to be polished at release : all players really wanted was to be able to actually play it. |

Simple answer: For those that are looking for a solid game that might be entertaining to play, maybe. You might like it, you might not. For everyone else and people looking for something "new": No, and I wish they stay away.
Basically if you are a gamer who have been giving games a fair chance and not worried about the so called game "politics", you might enjoy this game. People think they know it all about mmorpg, but does not even learn about the game, then I have nothing to say to them since it is a waste of time. Of course, not everyone value games the same way, so there might always be sensible gamers who doesn't think Aion is the game for them. |

Aion is nothing drastically new. If your coming into the game under the mindset that it is your gonna be very very dissappointed with the outcome. However, if your looking for a game thats highly polished and pvp centered your gonna really enjoy this game. |

It is not that amazing, but like someone said it is solid experience. It also gives a PvP model that some of us have missed - which is open world PvP with dynamic objectives. There are quite few of us who dislike instanced PvP.
