ok, it's been a while since I visited WAR the last time. About ten months, back then I quit after 2 months. When I left there were like 30 european servers with rapidly decreasing populations, heavy faction imbalances and nearly empty RvR areas. PvE was mainly dull fedex except for some cool public quests, still there were only few people doing PQs at all. So have these flaws been ironed out? How are the new classes? And how many POPULATED EU servers are left? M

There is 6 Euro servers left at the moment and at least Karak-Azgal there is a bit of problem with Order not going out to play and Destro is just capping zones like it's Christmas 2004. Sides fluctuate all the time when populations change, should be much better in 1-2 months for Order. |

I left just before Karak Hirn was moved to Karak Norn about 6 months ago & back then Karak Eight Peaks was just about the highest population server the Euro game had. If it s "just about dead" now that's quite a shocker. |

Well I subbed for another month and just rerolled on the highest populated german server carroburg. Population looks ok there, scenarios pop in 10 minute intervals and you run into people, at least during the evenings. Still it's a bit of a shock how much the server count dropped since last year. Also I've not run across very many changes tbh. Some sound effects seem to be new, audio has three panels to adjust now *yay*, but overall it looks and feels like when I left. What definitely changed during the year are my expectations. They couldn't be lower at the moment so maybe I'm in for some pleasant surprises. M
EDIT: Uncool additional fact; my lev 34 Zealot was on one of the RP servers which were obviously merged. And my char is gone. I know they don't _have_ to keep them, but it sure would be one of the few pleasant surprises when returning. |

Oh you can be sure that I won't put in as much effort and compassion as I did in the past; or in other games. If it's fun, it will be fun while it lasts. The complete absence of roleplaying and exploration content will never be able to get me excited... BUT: I learned one lesson from SWG, they messed it up in 2005, and every year people would go "this one will shut down before the year ends, I bet my right arm on this!", what happened? - It's still there, there are still people playing. Games need to be massive, MASSIVE failures to be shut down, PLUS they need no or weak IPs (like Tabula Rasa). A game with Warhammer on it will probably live longer than many expect... M |

6 servers? Wow. I was wondering how many servers WoW have for EU and I was actually quite surprised it's that many heh. 109 EU English speaking realms. |

You can't compare WoW to anything else on the market. Not by quality or gameplay standards but by 'population through snowball effect' standards... M |

There were 126 servers at launch, so er... well over a hundred servers are closed. |

Which was, very, VERY predictable actually. At least when you look at the EU servers. People were - from day 1 - not populating a good percentage of the servers. I know because on day 1 I started on a RP-OpenRVR server and the population there never kicked off. I leveled my WE to about 24, 25 only by quests, because there would be nobody to do RVR against and no SCs popping. So that's that, adding the fact that the game disappointed a huge amount of people; From the coop-PvE lovers who started to hate the "kill valyrion firebrand and 5 axe-warriors"-treadmill to the core-PvP lovers who hated the concept of PvP with absolutely no personal consequences. So at least I was not surprised about the server count when I returned. 4 German servers seem absolutely reasonable for a regular game with some 100k subs (I don't give a damn about the subs anyways, there only needs to be 1 server with a living pop - and that's the one I'm playing on). I found most of the launch day servers to be rather full with people. 800k players over 100 servers makes for a decent number of accounts per server. People keep saying there were to many servers, but I think that is just a result of people leaving so quickly. You could really fee the drop off after the first month of the game when many players first free month was up. I think it was the second month when my group of friends opted to start over on new servers, because ours had went from med-high to low all the time. It was simply amazing how fast the game emptied out. I can fully understand a RP-Open RVR server not taking off. Somehow I don't see a lot of open RVR players being very interested in role playing. They seem to be polar opposites.

A decades old popular European based IP (Warhammer) that has six struggling servers left in Europe. Not good. I'd imagine its like if people just lost interest in Mario Games in Japan, or the people in the U.S. had no more interest in Mickey Mouse. |

I started playing war week ago on Karak Norn, so i can just talk about t1-t2. RvR is very active from 6 pm to 11 pm, you can get in scenarios in 1-2 mins. Factions seem to be balanced and win lose ratio is around 50%. Well at least from my experience. |

TBH, the scenarios and the initial fun-factor in RvR were never WARs problems imo. I think what drives the majority of people off is the lack of any solid endgame... |
